  1. Altering lot statistics

Just find it in your plug in manger, they will be in the residential category and change the capacity satisfied value. Double click it to bring up its stat file, there are 2 numbers in that bit. For Low Wealth Residential there is a number 4112,Medium wealth is 4128 and High Wealth is 4144,dont change that, its a demand ID as it will tell you if you in the info bar down the bottom. Its pretty self explanatory. Change the second number and click apply then OK and your done. You can change the plop cost, monthly cost, pollution and garbage values and all that in there easily with only the PIM. It is as simple as that. Not sure what will happen to houses that are already in the game if you do that though.
  2. SimCity 4 Keeps Crashing on multiple cores

Adding -CPUcount:1 to the short cut fixed my crashes full stop. Its an old game designed to run on old machines. Be sure to add the space...just tack it onto the end of the target line. Right click on your short cut in start menu and bring up the properties box and tack that onto the end. Im running windows 7,it should fix it.
  3. The Bat Cave

I decided to do some lighting projects to get a real handle on how they function. I am getting some nice results so far. I wanted an open type area to work with at first,so made a bit of an outdoor ampitheatre. And working on this other little building I use for lighting tests discovered what I saw Cockatoo call his projector method. I really like what can be done with the projector map function. Max finsihsed downloading in good time and told me it had a corrupt file and please download a fresh copy and try again. I only have 2 gig Ram so might not bother with it at the moment. Would have been nice to have a play with it though.
  4. San Fran stuck at 250k

Getting citiy population past 250K is extremely difficult without a few (additions) lets call them. I had been playing this game for years also unmodded and had this problem too. Its to do with the way sims nove about. About a month ago I downloaded NAM and wow what a difference that makes. They actually use the transport systems you put in and travel more intelligently. The city I was playing at the time was next to a city of 250K and had 131,000 in there. As soon as I gotr NAM the population swelled to 436K! Plus the extra bits for roads and networks in NAM (Network Addon Mod) are totally worth it. The NAM,an Air Purification Plant and a Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Faciltiy transformed my cities. I would reccomend Pacthing the game up,and getting NAM at least. If you dont want tot do that, you gotta stick with the oddities of region play. The game seems to know how much of each type of workplace are about and you obviously know how one city can affect another. You could maybe bulldoze or undeveleop the other city thats got a lot of CO in it and the demand might transfer back to where you want. Or you could boost population even more and add more industrial only workplaces and maybe CO demand will rise again. Making the area you want CO in highly desirable with plazas, low pollution(air and water) will help too. Yes Monorail and regular train will help too,but try getting your sims on it. Ahhh, just had a look at the pics and one thing stands out. CO$$$ just love being in high traffic areas. You have all those avenues there with nothing developed on them. Try zoning some right next the Aveneues and Highways, but you have only R demand, follow the demand trends and add more people. Its the only way out of that there,no I or C demand either. .....oh yeah and get NAM. Its the best thing by far for this.
  5. The Bat Cave

Thanks Twrecks.....I kind of like the comms tower too. I thought a big intro would be better considering all the "Where's the Bat's?" comments in some other new users threads. I better hold off on some stuff then hey? I have only been at this since i joined up...whats that, one month now. Been reading and going through tutorials mostly, when not engrossed in modelling. A big thanks to everyone who has posted tuts on here too, there is a wealth of knowledge on this site. 2% of Autodesk_3ds_Max_2012_English_Win_32-64bit.exe downloaded Greater than 12 hours I use to be student lol.....maybe I should enrol again for something before they ask for confirmation or something once I have it installed.....
  6. Time keeps getting stuck

This happens to me too sometimes. Its like the game is thinking about a bunch of stuff, normally its about to grow a whole stack of buildings,or massive popilation growth and the video card cant keep up or something. It runs faster on Rhino or even normal speed when it does that. Just click on a slower speed for a bit and then try cheetah again. Its probably not because of plugins, just the way the game is at times.
  7. the biggest project of simtropolis

LOL! Thats a big errrrrrm uh building........What the hell is that thing?
  8. The Bat Cave

Thanks Jack3oh3.....I redid the grass houses and toned down the colors, cos they came up too bright in game. I havent got a newer pic online yet. The big tower is only a very very very rough draft.....Im not gonna name it yet,cos its a highly desired item. Kind hoping someone recognises it......It deserves some serious modeling, the building itself was intimidating me a bit and i just wanted to get one in my game quickly to get a feel for it. Really not looking forward to rendering it considering how long that piece o junk took.....its only got 8 pieces in it....the real building is gonna crash my computer Im sure of it.
  9. The Bat Cave

This thing.......oh man,I learnt some things about gmax with this. Very loosely based off the Arts Centre spire in Melbourne,I didnt have any pics at the time, just wanted to muck about with this kind building. It turned into a bit of an abortion. I didnt have any real clear idea of what I was building, just kept adding things to it. . Anyways so after building it and lighting it up,it looked ok in preview, then I pressed export......oh man....was thinking just export this to test it out and go on to something else. Hahaha.....like 4 hours later it finished rendering. Yikes.....so now I know. Somehow it lost a few textures and turned out a bit different to what I had expected. OMG what a monstrosity! This one taught me that I gotta nut out the lights and what they are doing a bit better. Cant do my usual, make something, light it up,preview, export, lot it up and test it out on big and complex structures, redo it and check it again. Makes me want to learn how to model more efficiently too. Just a few odd pieces. Something interesting happened when I tried to open the BAT4MAXv5 download mzp file in Gmax,(which i found out you are not supposed to do). I went into the Gmax icon on my desktop, gmax only, not the BAT. And ran the Maxscript to open the mzp and something happened. It came up with an error so i closed it down, thinking oh well, that didnt work. Went back into the BAT and started working on a model and when I went to the nitewindow textures I noticed that I now had NeonRed available as a nite texture in there,as well as the standard Beige,Green and Blue. There's a neon sign on the front of this. I like the neon....glad I did that. Its gonna come in handy. Anyways, theres a few BATS...
  10. The Bat Cave

Well I think I need a bat thread to show some things I am working on and allow them to soak in advice, and allow them to be scrutinsed properly before uploading anything before its really ready for it. I will probably ask any questions i have about things in here too. First up is something I really wanted to upload. So glad I read the Stex codes of Conduct before I did though. Anywas this was originally gshmails in avenue GLR station. I ripped the prop off it and transformed it into a Melbourne style Tram Stop. I have the W Class melbourne Tram running around my cities now as default LR and wanted a fitting stop for it. Plus I kinda love our carflipping crash barrier thing on them cos they just scream potential. I wish that had have happened on one of the Melbourne stops, would have looked so much better. Some buildings I am slowly fixing up. Am still getting the hang of night lighting and texturing. A mid rise building kind of inspired by Crown Tower on Southbank in Melbourne. Its not based on it from photos or anything, the shape of the building I have always liked and come up with this. Showing a little evolution of this model. i dont mind how its looking at the moment except for the base of the building which comes up too bright and distracting. A very quick and rough as guts on some mystery tower......just wanted to get a sense of its scale and geometries and to see whether this will actually be possible to do in gmax. One 300m high box and a few others with a few modifiers on them and texture,no lights or anything took a fair while to render....I will continue with it,but have my doubts about how this computer is going to be able take that structure. A few randoms bits and pieces..... Icelandic Turf houses on a test lot. Am still mucking about with these. Matching the colours to the game grass so they look like they are growing out of the ground takes a little time. That'll do for now....thanks for looking and commenting if you are inclined to.
  11. Bunnings Warehouse Megastore

Looks exactly like the one in Crannie, except the garden centre is on the other side. Spot on Mate!
  12. New

Just a quick note. If you want the Nitelites on downloaded buildings to work, you will need to get the EP1 Patch for SC4. And maybe (I am not sure about this) need to get the BAT and the update for that too so the lights will work. I got them from SC4D,there are links around somewhere to get the patches and updates. Patch the game first before adding stuff.
  13. High Tech

HT will grow in a city next to the one with demand even with no people or Co in there. Demand seems to spread to the adjacent cities. Can I ask how to do that? I downloaded that fix and the census one too,and when querieing buildings it was saying that Occupancy was higher than Capacity. Was that because of the HT Fix?? I will remove the HT fix and see if the census info changes. Edit* nothing changed by removing the I-H fix from plugins. The Census info still says that citywide and Regionwide Occupancy is greater than the capacity. Must be standing room only at work for my sims lol.
  14. High Tech

I think there is a fix for it somewhere. I have read posts about it.I normally dont worry about it and let the rich folk work in the offices and turn all the poor factory workers into HT workers. Here is a better pic I just took of that spot to show you what I am talking about. See all those tall white frothy things? they are all the air cleaners i put in here to attract HT and you can see where the HT starts with those yellow and black buildings. Try as I might the HT dont seem to want to be in that top corner. I have bulldozed those IM joints numerous times. Thanks for that quick link JackSunny.
  15. High Tech

You need well educated Sims, which you probably have since you've got the demand. The zones normally need to be very low pollution areas for them to develop. Pollution turns them away badly. Use the desirablilty view to zone for them initially. They normally want to be close to resi areas too,but thats not a prerequisite. They seem to not mind being near farms too cos the air pollution is normally low. Bulldozing an entire previously dirty industry area sometimes works if you wait for the air pollution that built up to dissipate. I just use some air Purification Plant I found on the Stex,as well as a water treatment plant. (Reverse Osmosis Water Treament Facility) its called. Plop these things in and watch the high tech go for it. I have built cities where I had a fairly decent High Tech Industrial area and then built some dirty and manufacturing near it and the High Tech moved out. They hate pollution. Be aware that High wealth sims dont work in HT cos of some bug. That area you bulldozed was probably still a bit too dirty for their liking. High Tech and CO$$$ dont like having pollution about. A pic of the city would help though. Dont even bother trying to put them near a Coal Plant if thats where you industrial area is.. Not sure if you can see it in this pic,but the whole left hand side and top left part of this city is industrial area, mostly high tech. There is a garbage dump in the top left corner and the high tech dont even like the smell of that even though there is no water pollution and super low air pollution. Righ click and save it and zoom in and you might be able to see the area thats IM instead of HT,up there near those three vehicle mission indicators. Although that area used to be dirty industry too,now that I think about it. You can put high tech zones right next to Residential zones. Sims dont seem to mind cos HT doesnt produce pollution, except for a bit of water pollution which you need to treat, and the jobs are close, meaning low commute times.
