Snow?

I'm playing now and i discover this:

Snow? How? I didn't download a mod that changes the terrain. I don't want snow, so why I have it?

It's a bug or just a feature of the game because today it's Christmas?

Its a feature in the game because its Christmas, I think it says something like that in the manual.. If your system date is set to December 25, then your game appears to have snow on it.

It's a programmed "easter egg" from Maxis. When you're playing on Christmas Day, you'll get snow. There' nothing wrong about that

AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I just got finished spending three hours systematically removing EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN in my folder... and still I couldn't figure out why my snowcap changed... I was just getting ready to uninstall the game completely and start from scratch when I read this. DOH!

I've just spent the past week and a half totally cleaning up all my plugins and textures and systematically testing them all and organizing my plugin folder to speed up my game and reduce desktop crashes. I was JUST about finished this morning and getting ready to burn the plugin folder to a backup DVDRom and start playing again when this happened. I couldn't figure it out? Had I just installed a texture pack with a conflict? I started removing my most recently tested mods one by one. Still snow. I took ALL the plugins out. Still snow. I deleted the startup manager. Deleted the main logs out of the maxis program folder. Was just about convinced that something in the main .dats for the game had been altered somehow...

And then this.

Wow. This goes on my all-time stupid list. Almost as bad as the day I asked a guy on the street if he had the time. He pointed up at Big Ben. Forgot I was standing beneath the most famous clock in the world.

anyways, its a cool easter egg, and i think the only one maxis built into it

I also had something like: hey, I havn't installed any low snowcap mods for my terrain mod. So i uninstalled the whole terrainmod, and it was still there! And then i thought: aww yeah, it's christmas, probably an ester egg.

So I got to find my terrainmod again(on the internets) and install it again

that I didn't have any snow yesterday in my game... not even on the highest mountains on the map, where I have snow even with the highest snowcap settings...

It's kinda sad. Most of my cities are low-lying areas and I'm unable to see the easter egg. I did see it one time on one of my cities, but it was only a small hilltop and I noticed it had a small snow cap. It was the only time I've ever seen it and it happened that day. I haven't played on that city since and I've never seen the magical snow again.

So a long time ago I evidently downloaded a snow mod. Well, I need to get rid of it. I just started playing SC4 again. The mod puts snow on mountain tops and it changes as the calender months move along. Well, every time it updates it lags my game. I do not know what it is. Any ideas as to what mod it is would be helpful so I can find and remove it.

Let's just move all these here...

You might have the snow capped mod,i think that's what

it's called.

 (It's hard to help with that as more info& maybe a screen shot is needed).

Edit:I completly forgot about the Christmas snow Easter egg,well if it goes

away after the 25th thats it then.

There is also an Easter Egg in the game, so you get snow (starts off in the hills then moves down and covers the low lying areas as well) on Christmas Day

I just switch to a new computer with windows 7 and now everything is covered in snow! I have tried changing around all my plug-ins and no matter what combination I try, I still get everything covered in snow! It is not December 25th on my computer, I have no snow mods turned on, my city is at a base elevation (near sea level), and I cnnot figure it out! Any ideas?

Did you try removing all plugins - from both plugins folders?
