I think is a lot more snow now since last week. Saw some images yesterday of the place where the Portuguese team is staying during the World Cup full of snow. About your next update, can I vote again? Axis City ! 9.gif

Thanks for all the comments again.

Battlecat, you're right, you already voted for Axis City.

Voting is still taken, as I said until the next update, as cowcorn said....Vote for the City you would like to see in the next update.

    Here are the choices again:

    1.  Axis City

    2.  Gloryville

    3.  Nexis City

    4.  Pharaon

    Sofar the votes are:

    Axis City      :3

    Gloryville     :1

skyscraper, glad you dropped a line.

Leech10, you and some others liked my Teaser?....lol....how about another one (see below)

timotheus4, you better stay tuned, because I will be talking about your character in the Axis Harbour update a little bit, but the mainstory is still to come, when we visit Gloryville and New Saphir.

    aleking, welcome back

purpledaddy, that must be the first time here, right, or am I wrong? Welcome.

Micah, well as much as Leech10 you will like the other teaser below, and the airport has been shown before, it only changed a little bit in the last 50 years.

another one that likes teasers, right sloppet?

Rayden, yes I have seen these pics also. Will the worldcup be played in the snow this year?......lol

If I would tell you that the picture below is taken right smack in the middle of Downtown New Saphire, the new capitol city of Genesis and the biggest City of them all, would you believe me? Well......kinda do believe me, because it is true.

    Saphir-Teaser1.jpg

Be back by the end of the week with the Axis Harbour update.

The last picture is just too great. Mastery of the water transparency effects. Didn't I vote for Nexis City or it's just that I don't remember?

Wow, that last teaser picture must have made a big impact to get so many replies in a short time. Thanks for the encouragements and thanks to the posters. ( I will show you some more teasers of Saphir and Pharaon soon.)

Yes, this is some park in the middle of Hi-Risers of the Capitol City that I am working on at the moment. Big job, but this City is the best yet imo. But I suppose you all will tell me once the time has come to open the curtains. 2.gif

    Here's the update:

    Axis ...............4 votes

    Nexis..............1 vote

You're correct!  Thanks!  Even though the art forms are somewhat different, I've been looking through the City Journals, especially the quality ones, to see the various styles and tricks of the trade that I can learn from to develop some professional Sim Diaries for Simtropolis.  I'm looking forward to thoroughly reading yours!

The End Part VIII...................Part A: Axis Harbour

I thought that I would be able to make this update in one shot, but time limits the fact that I cannot, so here is part 1 of Axis Harbour and part 2 with Syris will be tomorrow or later, if I find some time. I would have liked to have both of them at the same time, because they both belong to Axis City. One is the harbour part and the other is more like a suburbs of the Mega City.

It wasn't quite clear in the beginning of this Baycity what the Mayors of Axis were going to do with it. The idea to create an harbour was great, but the position at that time was bad though and it didn't last very long. When the new Mayor (it was Oriole at that time) got the hand on this part of Axis, the harbour was closed because of missing funds and only a few residential growth was observed in the following years. But halo, when another mayor took over and Axis Harbour became independant, then the town was starting to bloom. The harbour was bought out by Mr Sven and the Sirius Group. Mr Sven had other ideas for the harbour than just a commercial or industrial zone, so at some time appartment blocks were popping up all over the olkd harbourlots.
The Sirius group seemed to only have bought the other half to invest its money into land and space, since nothing was moving with these parts for many years.
Meanwhile the harbour found its roots in Tenzel Outlet and things were going just great until a new fellow entered the extending buissness managing of the Sirius Group.
It was then when Mr Timotheus became a member of the group, and together with the CEO of Sirius, those plans for Axis and Tenzel changed. A lot of money was invested back into Axis Harbour and Tenzel Outlet slowly but surely was slowed down and Axis became the principal Harbour on Genesis. Mr Timotheus, today the CEO of the immexe Empire of the Sirius Group, has received a statue in his name in Axis City only a year ago and in honour of saving the City's existance. But we will get back to him with more details once we reach Gloryville, where he now lives aged at 79 years and still directing the Group.

It grew like nothing else seen in the region(Axis Harbour) and soon the building spaces ran out and the harbour invaded somehow the residential areas. The residents moved over the bridge to the neighbor county, Syris, which got populated within the next 30 years aftern the re-opening of the harbour.
Today , everything is calmed down and growth is back to normal in both townships. Axis Harbour is still the number 1 Harbour and Syris is considered as the suburbs of Axis City, one of the biggest Cities on the Genesis Planet.
Axis Harbour is separated into three parts now, the mainland and two islands, one of them entirely created by mankind. The harbour at one time had to spred over to the Syris Island, when room started to get scarce.

    1AxisHarbor-view.jpg

It isn't a beautiful city at all as we will see during the next pictures, no landmarks, no natural or manmade attraction and really no style, but it is a city that moves a lot. One third of Axis City's citizens and about 20% of the Gloryville population works in this industrial Mega-land. When Mr Sven bought a part of the old harbour to make a residential Paradise, he expected it to become, but as mayors later decided to continue the industrial invasion with help of Mr Timotheus, that dream broke and today the old island is more of a slum than anything else. Polution of the industries have killed the residential beauty. On the two next pictures you can see the imensity of the industries of the harbourland.

    2AxisHarborIndustry.jpg

    3AxisHarborIndustry2.jpg

Even Tiel Oil, the biggest Oil Company on Genesis situated in New Sholes, owns some part of the harbour now with one of its oilrefinery. Smaller manufacturing shops fill up the empty spaces in between the giants, such as Slayer Inc, Smurfer steel, Swamper Signs and many others.

    4AxisHarbor-night.jpg

Oil and byproducts are probably the biggest exporter here in Axis Harbour. Before there was an oilexport in Tenzel Outlet, but when time had come to renovate and renew the installations, they decided to move it to the Axis Harbour, and that was the final death of the Tenzel harbour, which completely closed a year after. Now Tenzel Outlet is entirely residential, belonging to Gloryville.

    5AxisHarbor-OilTanks.jpg

Like I said, there is nothing special to this city and I would even say, that it looks kinda...... boring. The residential area is more like a suburbs than anything else, without really having a downtown nor an important commercial sector. But let's not forget, the city has a population of more than 150,000 citizens, which makes it the second biggest suburbs of Axis City (the biggest is Hawklyn Valley, which once used to be farmland)

    6AxisHarbor-Residential.jpg

Here are 2 pictures of the harbour itself, the part with the smaller fishing boats and then the bigger commercial harbour with tankers and Cargoships. Everything that is produced or manufatured in the Genesis region and made for export to other regions will have to go through this harbour at one time, which is the mainconnection to the neighbors. Cargoboxes and containers can be seen here by the thousands, all containing something that was produced and manufactured here and waiting to reach their destinies beyond this region.

    7AxisHarbor-Harbor1.jpg

    8AxisHarbor-Harbor2.jpg

The Axis Harbour bridge, well known , connects the islands with the mainland and even from here you will be able to reach other regions further on. Since Axis was running out of room for residential living at one time, the islands were opened for construction and the invasion of the Syris Island wasn't too long. This Syris island itself belonged to the Hawklyn Family, actually to be more precise, it belonged to Jimmy Hawklyn, the brother of the famous Adley Hawklyn from the Hawklyn Valley Farms now situated out in the west, and the father of the very famous Helick Hawklyn, the Grand Mayor of the Capitol City of  Saphir. Both Hawklyns sold their land to the City of Axis some 40 years ago and moved to the west to rebuild their farming empire there.

    9AxisHarbor-Bridge.jpg

Here is a retro picture when the first mayor of Axis City had big plans for the harbour. It surely has changed in the last hundred years or so. At this time, the construction was considered as the second biggest construction site ever undertaken, just after the Hydrodam in Grand Dam City. The futur looked good , but hard times killed their dreams. Only about a century later, their dreams have come true. This city is an important part of Genesis's economy and existance.

    10RetroAxisHarbor.jpg

From here on we will be going to Syris in the second part of this update later tonight or tomorrow, which also belongs to Axis City. After we will have ourselves a Mega-update with Axis City itself, downtown,Hawklyn's suburbs and South Axis suburbs. Only the northern part of the riverland belongs to Axis while the south, the City of Axis South, is gouverned by Gloryville.

    Have a nice weekend now.
