So I'm not totally convinced that the color scheme has been revealed to us.

November 16, 2008 2008 Trixies Will Be Coming A Little Later Than Usual! 2008 Trixies Just wanted to let everyone know that the 2008 Trixie Awards will be coming a bit later than usual.  Typically, Trixie nominations open up in November, and close near the end of the month for the awards.  For this year, only, we are changing the dates to early January.  So expect nominations to open up shortly after the New Year, and awards before February!  Keep looking forward!  Cheers...

The date was never actually set. It never has been. The first ones were spontaneously done in August of 2003. Originally they were called "The Golden Llama Awards", with "Trixie" being the name of the llama on the award statue. But they ended up getting called "Trixies" for short, and the name stuck. Kinda like how everyone calls the Academy Awards "The Oscars".

Anyways, in 2004 they didn't show up until October. In 2005 they were opened in November and awarded in December, with the same being done in 2006 and 2007. Now they've slipped back even further for reasons unspecified.

Point being, it's always just sorta happened. There's never been a formal date when they were supposed to open for nominations, they always just spontaneously did. And then they wouldn't come out on a set date either, it would just happen once the selection committee (otherwise known as the admins) had gone through and decided the winners, the mods had given their commentary, and the new medals and labels were made up. And this has progressively taken longer and longer each year as the site has gotten bigger and bigger, more and more nominations have been received, and more and more awards have been given out. In 2003 the awards came out almost overnight. Last year it took a week after nominations closed for the initial release and even then it was longer before all the member of the team awards had all their medals.

Okay, granted, the medal icons and custom labels didn't show up until early 2005, so the 2003 and 2004 ceremonies didn't involve any of that, but still.

Actually, we don't "select".  We count.  We do wade through the nominations doing some validation, throwing out things that are obviously nonsense, like nominations for BAT awards from people who don't BAT, and nominations for CJ awards for people without a CJ and so forth.

And we do break ties.  If one guy comes in second in 3 different CJ categories and is tied for the 4th, he will probably get our tie breaking vote.  If you want to call that "selection".

Actually, looking at the history, very few categories are decided by a landslide.  Most of them are very close.   Your nomination really does count.

Hmmm... Trixies in January?! :'( I am deeply saddened by the delay, but, I am hopeful that it will be a very interesting one.

It will also be my first Trixies too, but I do not expect anything at all from it. Anyhow, I am just dreaming what the Trixies will actually look like...

For the colour of the Trixies, I'd go for orange... it's the only colour that hasn't been done before and would math the medal.

And I actually find it good that the Trixies have moved to January. Allows me to get my new CJ running and maybe have a chance of winning a Trixie this time!! (only had few nominations last year)

But I'm sure the extra time will be used properly to make them extra HOT this year XD

PS @ Greekman: See it as a beauty pageant then, the winner of for example, Miss Belgium of 2009, get's chosen in 2008. =p
