Very good work with the diagonal housing. I've already seen SimCoug's Diagonal residentials in the download section, but as of now I haven't found a way to actually use them. BTW, are these grown or plopped?

Most are grown, but after spending just over an hour growing, demolishing, growing, and on and on, I just lost my patience. About 1/4 houses are plopped. :)

are those secure farms available anywhere?  LEX, STEX?  It looks amazing

If I ever have the time I will make it my first lotting project... thanks for the kind words!

And thanks T-Wrecks and Pegasus for the bits and pieces! IRM filler lots add a lot of realism.

I love all the roundabouts, and the pylons, and the lake, and the diagonal home and well I could go on! ;)

Here's a picture of one of Manitou's (now renamed Manilow since I noticed, rather embarassingly, 9gruntsand1hammer's town beared the same name) neighboring towns. Settlers didn't have seem to have much fantasy left when naming it.

Actually the city was called Sault Ste. Marie but the neighbourhood was called Manitou. I based it off of neighbourhoods in my city such as Manitou Park because I'm not good at coming  up with my own names.

Anyway you town looks really good.

Nice use of ploppable water and other MMP. That countryside looks very relaxing.

I usually start my cities as small towns.  Here are a couple:

@vortext That image looks fantastic , though I think it would fit in the "Show us your farm land" thread as well .  And it really does look great . No grid to be found there . Awesome .

Though Traelonisk is offically the first proper city in the region, it's still small enough to show in this thread, right!?

Damn... that's just beautiful.
I have a hard time
reconciling that this was something that was made in SC4. It looks more like the terrain map of a RPG game.

OHIO CITY, INDIOLA

Located on the far southeast side of Waukeagan, Ohio City is a popular tourist destination and a manufacturing hotspot.

Though Traelonisk is offically the first proper city in the region, it's still small enough to show in this thread, right!?

Whats even more amazing is that there's nothing in that photo that's original vanilla SC4 content. Which I find interesting.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Well technically the smoke effects are vanilla content.  In addition I use the Castle Set quite a bit so. .  still some Maxis after all. :P

Here's another small town which afaik haven't shown here yet.

rPIQEZs.jpg

Gaellithorp is one of the oldest settlements in the region – both in terms of fictional history and actual development. This spot right in the middle was rather difficult to fill. I wanted some kind of communal building however, none of the churches I tried were a good fit. More so because I imagined Christianity didn't reach here quite yet. Rather the villagers would still be pagan, mixed with some Roman influences. A proper temple, on the other hand, was way too exotic. Then one evening I suddenly remembered this particular BAT by Swi. And as it turns out it's actually called 'Dutch Forest House', which I took as a sign this was the appropriate building for the spot. :]

Ah, I thought the Smoke was photoshopped. Also since I never really used the Maxis Castle, I was wasn't aware of how it looked.

That Dutch Forest house looks like something out of LOtR!

I like the zoomed-out view best. Great combination of water/beach mod, underwater flora, boats, and other MMP assets! Just like looking out of the airplane window on a flight to some tropical country and looking forwarding to lying in the shade of a palm tree and swimming in the sea... a very welcome association on a grey January day. :thumb:

I have an alternate set of tropical terrain probably identical to that datpacked together that I could just swap in and use but it looks a little ridiculous in a continental region setting.  That, and my primary region already contains probably about ten million (yes, that's a reasonable estimate) temperate climate trees and you kind of need the flora to match the terrain.  Therefore I always enjoy seeing when others post these island settings!  (Now I just want to see somebody try to recreate an island like Saba.)

I'm assuming the airport is intended to be a combination airstrip/seaplane base?

Washington City, which is WIP, is a small town/small city south of Bristol Bay, inland on the Pontum River, instead of Bristol, one of California's (fictional) largest cities, being the county seat, it's instead all the way at the southern end at the edge of Washington County, in the city of Washington City. It's 1930s-1960s styled downtown, makes it feel like (especially when it is done), like it is stuck in time. I do apologize in advance that the picture is at night, with well, no lights on. The buildings didn't feel like cooperating with me for the picture it appears.

Sorry, but...

Unfotunately, that small and almost entirely dark picture is more food for imagination that candy for the eyes. I'm sure you can take a better one.

Very loosely based off similar communities you'll see all over the Norwegian coast.

I really need to remake this in a higher quality some day...
