I have had official confirmation that the delegation has made pawfall on the far western reaches of Schulmania...  in Port Schulmacisco.    After a quick prowl around  looking and a meal of fancy feast, they are expected to leave at 9.30pm (local) and take the 'red-eye' transcatinental overland route to arrive back in Schulmania at 6.22 am 06-27-09.

What they don't know of course is that if they thought the internet access rate of 70c / min was high at the various accomodations during the visit...   (hence the lack of planned 'on the prowl' updates...  )  the internet access rate for "lounging about" at the Ambassador's state residence is actually quite a bit more...   especially for the 'other' member of the delegation with something known as an 'iPhone'.

I am however happy to report that the delegation is returning with their most unexpected discovery...  an item known as a packet of 'chicken potato chips'...   apparently this particular flavour is completely unknown in Schulmania and they have negotiated for further supplies to be sent by the WCC around general times of 'Thanksgiving'.

A side note: the BART trains in San Francisco make a sound, when one's eye are closed, sounds exactly like the monolith music from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Weird, huh?

Zelgadis ZJ was actually right on hand to greet me as we returned from the state visit. He was appreciative of the uncut lawn.

Devonshire: Monkey Festival

It is time for one of Devonshire's favorite annual activities - the Monkey Festival. The events center around food, family and fun. The fun was often "monkey business", leading to the term and the simian mascot for the holiday.

Celebrants across the principality gather and wear festive hats for a day of events and perhaps even a nice holiday cake.

An exclusive food vendor, Catbury Chocolates of Schulmericho, has been granted concessions to distribute special treats just for the Devonshire Monkey Festival.

Hurry! These are available for a limited time only!

Celebrations occur across the principality on Monkey Festival Day, but are more elaborate in the western section of the region. Governor George has been more supportive of public expenditures in the Devonshire District than has his counterpart in East Devonshire, Gov. Eula Bird. Let's see where the parties will be underway. Festivities begin the night before the festival begins. The late night "Let's Avoid Bedtime Party" begins in the holiday in style.

Citizens take to the streets to celebrate avoiding bedtime... what better way to start the Monkey Festival than by ringing in the day with a raucous party?

Wondering where all of the lights came from? They're gas lights. Wondering where the gas came from? Probably better to not ask that one.

Who knew Schulmericho was such a party city?!

If you squint, you may be able to see some of the citizens walking about already having donned their Monkey Festival hats.

Don't get the blues during the Monkey Festival, stop in at the new Château St. Curious, the first luxury hotel in the principality.

The excitement builds as the evening wears on - can anyone sleep?

A few anxious citizens are making last minute stops to buy party favors... do you have yours?

An evening church service was well attended, marking a peaceful diversion from a hectic day ready to unfold.

Someone has better corral the partiers and send them to bed, lest they miss the beginning of the festivities. I hear there's a bacon eating contest in Memorial Square. Wanna participate?
