We've had multiple set backs at the labs. Several experiments were declassified.. but maybe not. There is a government conspiracy... it is so bad that even though somethings were declassified.. no one will ever know.

I just went back and read a few pages that I missed, including some replies... Top 15, huh? Wow, I didn't think I'd spent that much time here 2.gif And I didn't realize you kept such a close eye on your statistics!

Today is a special holiday in Schulmania… Wirdle Day! Today is the Supreme Wirdle’s birthday. This is a day of great happiness and festivity. Parties, celebrations, parades and more will occur across the land. Here, have a drink to toast the day!

Perhaps you would like to participate in a traditional Wirdle Day game of Wird-L-Cube?

And, now, let us see some of the celebrations occurring across the land.

An added Wirdle Day bonus: I checked Schulmania Volume 1 to see how ST 6.0 has done with load times... and it is much improved. So, if you have always wanted to see the first 268 pages of Schulmania, give it a try. Or, if you miss the oldies, go back and fall in love all over again.

But, you can't post in it; 'tis locked. When the dust settles at the new CJ section, there may indeed be a Volume 3 over there to contend with as well.

Continue celebrating Wirdle Day and remember:

Congratulations Wirdle with your birthday! How much years of you glorious live have you lived now? (AKA: what is your age?) BTW: Why do they launch the fireworks during the daytime, they look lots better at night. The Wirdle-L-Cube can't be really hard to solve, as it is a rubix cube with six equal sides, now, that can't be hard.

From the stats I conclude that there is a jump in views after an update, which then sinks towards a lower level, only to rise back up after another update.

Happy Wirdle Day... looks like great celebrations coast to coast and as always great data information, something I don't do for my CJ, but am forced to do in my classroom a lot.

As the Executive of Franklin, we like to have strong diplomatic ties to all nations, but I confess that I'm not a follower of the Supreme Wirdle. That said, I like the SchulmaniStats. They're always strangely interesting.

OK, folks, time for an informal survey. Fear not, you are not being scored on this, so don't cheat off of your neighbor! As I am getting the next update ready (I am running behind due to extensive yard work over the weekend), I am noticing a lot of activity in the new CJ section and not quite as much in the old CJ section. So, I was wondering about the following two items. (Eventually, I plan on starting a new volume over in the new section, so I am doing my homework before I get very far in that.)

    1. As a viewer, do you like how the new CJ section displays threads? What about this format do you like or dislike? And, how might the new format be put to use in a way to make viewing easier/better for you?

    2. As a CJ creator, how do you like the new CJ section? What new features have you taken advantage of? Any challenges in the new format? How has it (if it has) changed how you do a CJ?

I am not yet ready to start Volume 3, but I am giving it serious thought. As I do, I would like to hear from folks and use their experience to help me determine the nature of Volume 3 when it is released.

Thanks! Update coming soon... weather is turning bad so no yard work for a while!

i dont post here much, so apologies if this is not aimed at me... for a viewer the new section allows for longer updates to not ruin your browsing experience. sometimes in a frequently updating CJ you find two 30 picture updates on the same page can be a real drag on your browser. it also means that you dont have to go routing through pages and pages to find a specific update.

as a CJ'er, well i was inspired to start up a CJ because i thought how much easier it would be for the viewer. but also, i can use the new entry feature in other ways, your backstory your maps, your polls, your competitions, your replies can now be seperate clearly labelled entries that will make it significantly easier for me to manage as well as browse. It will take abit of getting used to but it is a very powerful setup potentially...

EDIT- in fact looking at your post awards it seems this may infact be my first post..... i suppose i should now consider myself intrigued....

1 & 2. The main thing I like is how each update forms its own page, with the update at the top. No flicking back to the previous page if comments push it one page over. Seems like loading of each page is faster than the old method.

Challenges are the bugs that appear, mainly. Sometimes it is hard to get it to accept a comment, sometimes it is hard to edit updates. I am sure these will be sorted out over time.

My Opinion as A viewer and City journalist at the new CJ Section

    As a viewer:

I think that the city journal section is very organised. It is tidy and it is much easier to find a specific update from a CJ you like. On the other hand, the New CJ section does not have the "subscribe to topic" feature as of yet and recent replies and entries do not show on the homepage of ST. This makes it a litle less accessible for people.

    As a City Journalist:

I like the new section. It is very organised and tidy. It has a "rate this cj" feature. It guarantees no more page flip bug due to it's blog format. There is only one entry per page. You can ost comments on a specific update whenever you want. Again, as I said, the cj lacks the "subscribe to topic feature" and  and latest replies do not show up on the home page. This is bad because it limits publicity.

My solution was to keep the thread in the forums alive as well as the new thread in the CJ section and I let the people choose which place they want to view the CJ.

It hasn't really changed the way I do a CJ, but it has made me more organised.

That is what I think if the new CJ section.

    All the Best,

    Rainyday

As a viewer of CJs, the best characteristic of the new section is how each update has its own page, and the ease of navigation. The worst characteristic is the marginalization of comments, which many times can be important, as I have seen in FC. Add to that the fact that it doesn't increase my post count.

As a creator of CJs, here are the things I don't like about it:

    - No customization of the title formatting for updates (FC uses dark red, extra large font)

    - As i said before, the marginalization of comments

    - The rating system, which might stratify who gets comments and who doesn't (i.e. a correlation between high rating and high commenting)

    - The fact that avatars are represented as the "face" of the CJ; in the old CJ section, it is the same as the forum

    - The lack of a topic summary, instead we have a description

    - The separation of entry and comment count

In my view, there are more cons than pros, and I wouldn't reccomend moving a CJ there. On the other hand, I believe that the format can be very nice for showcase CJs and the likes of them, but the new format, and Franklin County are incompatible. It wouldn't work for a CJ with my style to move there.

    1:

Brad2.jpgBrad: It does make it easier to look at a CJ because there is only one update per page.

Brian2.jpgBrian: However, it could be harder to keep track of replys as you can reply anywhere, which could cause problems in the post count awards...

Brad2.jpgBrad: However, last time we checked, it limits the maximum reply size a bit too much--

Brian2.jpgBrian:  --making mega replies hard to do, as they must be split up into 3 posts... this hasn't been checked recently, though.

    2:

Brad2.jpgBrad: With the new format it is easy to organize the updates, as it comes with a ready made table of contents.

Brian2.jpgBrian: So no more need to post links off to various places, the site does it for you. All you need to know is where you want to go in order to go there.
