Wow, there have been some great additions here lately!
Has anyone else mastered the art of making 16:9 high def videos using Youtube's new widescreen player? Just remember to set your in-game resolution to a 16:9 format such as 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

Make sure you watch it in HD (it's 4:3 but still HD quality). Hal, it's just a coincidence that my highway video is also Highway 1 and it's the same length, I promise that wasn't intentional
HD troubleshooting:
-I found out that you need to have Java Player 9.0 or better to watch HD Youtube videos.

My name is Janbiya here, but on Youtube I go by Thunk00. Since February, I've been recording and uploading SimCity 4 let's play videos almost every day to my Youtube channel. The let's play focuses on new city development and infrastructure projects in existing cities in my first SC4 region. (I just started playing in October after many years of playing less robust city building games, but I like to think that I've been a quick study.) In fact, today I just uploaded the last video of a 35 episode long series of retrofits aimed at replacing the region's original Maxis Highway system with Project Symphony and RHW. If it's bad form to advertise here before posting in other threads a little bit, I apologize, but hopefully you'll click on one of my videos and enjoy it all the same!
As far as my play style, I try to remember to use tons of custom content everywhere and generally aim to build plausible looking cities and neighborhoods. No massive commercial districts or uneven orthogonal blocks for me! While admittedly most of my creations fall well short of true realism, I think I've gotten a lot better at it as I've spent more time "studying up" on Google Maps and learning new ways to utilize custom content. Transportation networks are probably what I spend most of my time on in the game, similar to many players. My LP style is influenced by inactive let's players such as Casper, xI2ei, MandelSoft, haljackey, Adoxx Productions, and, last but certainly not least, Bonecanoe86.
There's only so much I can say about my own work without sounding like a complete shill before others see it. So without further ado, here are some links to my playlist and a couple of my favorites from the videos that I've uploaded so far.
Even if you aren't intent on sitting down and watching 49 videos over the next 24 hours, looking at the thumbnails of my playlist will give you an idea of the kind of content I upload.
The first episode of the aforementioned expressway retrofit project. I show off two previously built-out cities as well as explaining what's going on with that!
I go through a number of the first SimCity 4 towns that I ever built in this episode in order to showcase off camera work and reminisce about the history of the regions.
This is one of my better "typical" episodes for the expressway retrofits, and New Guilin is a good example of my typical development style.
The final episode involved with freeway retrofitting in my old region, at least for now, and probably one of the most interesting and action-packed all around.
