Swamper,

I figured that the file would have to load after the NAM. I've been reading the omnibus and I've been lurking the forums. I just have to let my file catch some z's. 3.gif (Bad pun, I know).

ben_sb_vex,

Are you sure it's the normal in-game roads you are using and not the ANT (additional network tool)? It could be that you unintentionally used the ANT in those sections with "no road" zots because the game won't develop on the ANT. It's a quirk in the NAM that the guys that made it can't eliminate. Try dragging regular roads back over those sections and see if that solves your problems.

I read in the Roanoke Times (highly liberal bias) that in Blacksburg, about 40 miles west, they will build a roundabout to improve a crowded intersection. The article was in the paper a few months ago, but the proposed roundabout will be the only one I know of in southwest virginia. I know that there are a few in WashingtonDC but those are the closest.

Hey everyone,

I have a small problem after installing the NAM mod onto Sim City 4 RH (June 07 version).  Traffic lights on avenue-avenue and avenue-road intersections don't work properly!  They stay permanently green for both directions! (well, almost for avenue-avenue intersection).  Road-road intersections work fine, strangely enough.

As you can see in the images, the traffic lights are also in the wrong side but that I can live with it.  It's just driving around my city that is the problem.  While it may be great that there are virtually no red lights, it's just getting to my destination requires A LOT of guesswork as other cars seem to randomly stop and go at any of these intersections.

[Click here if img doesn't work] Only the middle traffic light changes, but even then it is ambiguous.

I live in Australia and we drive on the left hand side of the road (right-hand drive).  However I was shipped with the US version from a relatively well-known Australian gaming site which has the completely opposite drive.  I did manage to convert my game to right-hand drive (drive on left hand side of the road) by using the "EnglshUK" folder and changing the registry accordingly, but NAM has somehow messed with the traffic lights and now I can't drive in my city properly!  (I did choose that I have the UK version installed - left hand drive option).

I'd really appreciate it if someone can find a solution for this.  Thanks!

Note: I did have the older NAM installed previously which had the same problem.  I hoped the June 07 version would fix it but it didn't 3.gif

AuHouse,

The NAM is designed primarily by right-hand drivers, but there is a plugin for left-hand drivers that fixes the paths for the users that drive on the left, which I see you noticed.

Someone would have to edit all the network tiles in the game to fix them for left-hand drivers. Network tiles are a special set of exemplar files in the game that place the props along your roadways and at intersections. Without them, there would be no traffic controls at intersections between networks and no decorations along your roadways.

Some of the custom props in the NAM would have to be re-rendered for left-hand users, such as the stoplight pole assembly that is used for the Avenue Turning Lanes. I'm not saying a fix of the network tiles for the left-hand users can't be done, but it will take a lot of work to do it. Most of the NAM Team have real life (RL) to deal with, so there isn't much spare time for its members.

I hate to be the bothersome person to ask about it, but how do you get those ramps? I've looked absolutely everywhere I thought possible, and I do have the most recent NAM. Just no luck in finding them at all.

Domino Hobbes,

They are under the "Single-Sided Parallel Onramps" button. They are near the end of the Rotation Ring, so use "Shift + TAB" to access them quicker after clicking on that button. They only exist for Ground Highways to connect to the raised roadway puzzle pieces.

Does anyone know how to get the T Rail level onramp to elevated heavy rail to work?

- Place it on slope of the trench that you are planning to send the railroad across.

- Drag the rail tool off the end of the puzzle piece, inline with the tracks that are on the puzzle piece.

- Drag either rail or another network perpendicular to the railway. At this point, you can choose to leave the perpendicular network in place or you can bulldoze it. Bulldoze by removing a tile from beside the tracks.

Ok, heres what I noticed with the nam, why are the hidden split avenue intersections not possible? Are we ever going to see double left turn lanes, or other types of turn lanes?

Hello! I was playing my game today and realized my avenue roundabouts weren't working, and found I had old NAM installed. I took that out and the avenue roundabouts worked. Then I ried custom bridges but some still don't work (fukuda's) But my MAIN problem was when I deleted the old files, EVERY single road intersection in the game lost its texture, along with several other spots on the road. I tried to click them all back but it took ten minutes per tile, and I can't possibly do every intersection in a city of 200,000. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything, please help. 41.gif

Could you tell me how, or at least, point me to a place to find out how, to do this?

JaxCoJazz

I'm definately using roads and not the ANT, so pretty sure that's not the issue. The no-car signs are now appearing on houses connected to streets whose only access to my transport network is through a newly-created roads.

If anyone has any other suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks,

Ben.

Ok, I narrowed the "No-Road Access" problem down to road intersections, which seem to be causing the trouble. Only when i drag a road across a road (so that there is a traffic light, or at least a 'zebra-crossing' intersection) do the no-road access bubbles appear. Depending on how many intersections there are and whether an area can only be accessed through these intersections dictates how many of these bubbles appear. Waiting didn't appear to help unfortunately Joe, but thanks for the advice nonetheless.

Is it possible that another modd i have might be interfering with the NAM functionability?

Would the Transit supermodd (ie pathfinding modd) or Euro Road Textures effect it?

Ok, I used cleanitol (again) and reinstalled the NAm (again) and somehow the problem resolved itself, so all is good!

Thanks for all the advice guys,

Ben.

I've been on and off with using the NAM. I think I've dLed it and then taken it off my computer like 5 times. The last time, I noticed that my mass transit usage decreased somewhat. I used to make a $30,000 profit on my MT system, but it got reduced by half. I looked on the transportation graph and it showed a decrease in bus, subway, train, etc, and increase in car. I know that the NAM increases speed and efficiency of the pathfinding, but does it make using the car a faster means to get to work? So in effect, more pollution/traffic?

I don't know if I should be in the NAM Requests thread, but does anyone think that it would be possible to have a highway system with a variable amount of lanes and options to include shoulders HOV lanes etc?

This would add a lot of realism to the game, or does anyone know of a place where all of the highways are 3-lane?

Thanks

Could you actually give me the address to the page where the multi-lane/mis thing actually starts being discussed/made?

Hi, I've had the NAM for a while with no problems, but I've been trying to have road overpasses over rail, and I've been using the road corner piece. Almost every time I use it, the game crashes either immediately or a short time after I plop it with no explanation.

I have a custom train station near the bridge so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but if anyone has any answers, that'd be great! Thanks.

Hey everyone, this question has probably been asked before but I just can't seem to find the avenue texture that includes the turning lanes in the middle instead of the barriers of the default Maxis texture. Where would I go to find this particular texture and if possible a direct link would be much appreciated. Cheers

Misterquicks

Search the STEX for Ryanb_SC4.

These textures are non functional and are just pure eye candy. There is a mod in development that will make this system functional, and will eventually become a part of the NAM once enough progress has been made.

supersimpsons

This is a known and documented bug in the NAM. It results from how the game rotates the puzzle pieces automatically. No way around it. Just remove the station, place the puzzle pieces, and then put the station back. Hovering over any Transit Enabled object with a puzzle piece selected causes the game to crash.

I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I would just put it here. Okay here it goes. I just recently moved my SC4 PC (it doesn't have internet yet but it works; the PC I'm typing off of was already here). And now, when I use the NAM, there's no problems using the puzzle piecs but...for some reason all of the menu icons are duplicated. In other words, there's two avenue roundabouts, two custom interchanges, two ped mall tiles; you see where I'm going with this right? Anyway, just a question, how could this have happened and what can I do to fix it? Thanks in advance,

-Yoshiisland
