Ok, Lurker here. Thanks so much for all your hard work with the NAM, to all involved! I've been enjoying it throughly for a long time now.

Reciently, SC4 has gone crazy so I purged my plugin folders and am re-installing the NAM. How do I add a different "Traffic_Plugin" file with the new installer (Specifically the 10XCommute file)? It seems to install only the default plug-ins, based on what's selected in the installer. Thanks for your help!

Don't know whether its a request and.or already covered, but it seems to me that Maxis went ahead and wasted a lot of real estate for the different transportation modes. NAM addresses this to a point. But where is, for example, a head station for rail? Or an under-the-city tunnel for rail, perhaps leeading into a station similar to NYC's PENN station? And - again perhaps in the wrong place: are there standard sized (ie, same lot size as the original) rail station replacements with higher capacities? Or are you indeed planning to include such in the forthcoming updates?

well...this thread seems to have died a bit. Anyone have any news on when the next NAM will be out? Or maybe what % it is complete?

To create a MOD containing custom tunnel entrances I need a few 1x1 LOTs with tunnel entrances including attached road/rail textures in the MODEL itself. Entrances may be created with BAT like models for LOTs. Entrance models show the entrance on it's front sides and are like a cube to the other ends.

If somebody wants to create models, please leave me a message!

I just want to say a "Big Thankyou" to all the batters, lotters, testers, and probably most importantly, the modders for all their wonderful work on the NAM. It is without doubt the biggest and best addition to the game. Without it, you would have seen everything the game had to offer done a long time ago. But, with it, you always see knew transport ideas and set-ups popping up in the CJ section. So many new transportation configurations have been achieved. So a "Big Thankyou" to all who have, are, and will be involved in work on the NAM.

Okay, if the NAM project never dies, when is the next update coming out? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last update was LAST OCTOBER!!!

the NAM may not die, but its members have real lives as well. the next NAM will come out when it's finished.

<p>When i install nam i can't choose to have both better pathfinding and 10x commute/speed.<br />I choosed 10x commute & 10x speed. Can i install the seperate better pathfinding mod too? Or will that ruin both of the mods? I've just re-installed all my plug-ins because nam wasn't working, i think i had some mods installed that doesn't worked with each others. And then i wonder about the 10x commute time, will that make so the sims can travel for 10 times longer than original or does it make so they travel 10 times slower? Why not make a nam with 100x times everything for those (like me) who want to have industrial REALLY far away from the rest of the city.</p>

There can only be one traffic plugin installed at the same time. The NAM comes with a wide variety, but feel free to customize the values to your liking by using the Traffic Cop program. "10x Commute" means that the maximum allowed commute time is ten times higher than default, so abandonment due to long commute times is less likely. The readme files supplies detailed information about the traffic plugin files, so please read it carefully.

Hello, I have a problem with the NAM that I downloaded. When I play the game and I build something that was a new feature from the NAM (ie. a pedestrian mall) and then I try to build another and tab through the pieces, my simcity closes by itself. Did I install something wrong or am I missing something?

Sometimes the game will crash when you try to put certain pieces over others. This is a known bug in the NAM that I hope they are working on.

So if i have NAM installed i can just use that program over NAM? Cause i don't want to lose the other things NAM do, i just want to make so that people can travel for as long as possible.

I would recommend you to download the iLive Reader have change the settings there. If you download the MAC version (just a zip file instead of an installer), then you can see what the different between the traffic plug-ins. What is it you what to do with the traffic cop / traffic plug-ins ?

KeanoManu: I believe you can only have either one of the 2 installed as they tend to conflict with each other and produce uncontrollable results. However if I were you I would stick with the NAM.

what i want with traffic cop is to make it 100x commute and speed instead of 10x.<br />But as MiniMark said so is it easy for thing to conflict, i had so before and then NAM wasn't working at all, i removed all my plugins to get rid of it and installed everything again.

Traffic Cop is a program, not a mod, so you can install it at any time. It comes with a traffic plugin file, but you should delete this, since it contains the same data as the traffic plugins that come with the NAM, but with outdated values. The only difference between the in-game traffic simulator values (and the file that comes with Traffic Cop) and the NAM traffic plugin files are the new values for the ANT (Additional Network Tool, aka "Dirt Roads"), which also comes with the NAM.

Traffic Cop can't modify the values for the ANT, but it should work perfectly with all other values. Please refer to the NAM readme, there's also a paragraph about Traffic Cop. If you don't use the ANT, you don't have to worry at all. Traffic Cop can be used for altering the network speeds, capacities, transit costs, transit preferences and pathfinding accuracy, but not the maximum allowed commute times. You have to do this with the Reader, as vester_DK mentioned. Look for a property called "Commute trip max time" and change it to your liking. The default value is 6, which is 60 minutes (one-way), I guess. Higher values will increase the max. allowed commute time.
