Me being a hardcore Xbox fan, i like to have a contest to see which is better.

The prominent PS3 or the well-known Xbox360?

The deciding factor on which is better is down to which one would you rather have, money being no object. PS3 is the best in pretty much every aspect except price, and money being no object, thats the one I would take. I can't care much for some of the exclusive titles on the 360...

Unfortunately this isn't fantasy and money is an object, so i'm being subjugated by my bank account into getting a 360 7.gif

Acctually, thats the main thing I hate about the 360... its a budget console. I mean, its one you'd play... unlike the Wii which is the worlds greatest dust collector.

It really depends on your gaming preferences. While the 360 is geared more towards multiplayer shooters, the PS3 is geared more toward RPG's and what not. Personally I prefer the 360, I can download music, tv shows, movies, games, anything really. With the 360, even if you are like me and can't afford a lot of games, you can still get plenty of enjoyment out of it. Also, the 360 syncs well with your PC, I guess because they are both Microsoft..hmm..

I go with the 360 because I like the games on it, the PS3 doesn't have anything that interests me.

I have a PS3, because I despise xbox's!

I asked my ICT teacher which was superior in terms of hardware, and he said the PS3 was, but the cell processor on it cannot be programmed properly to be taken full advantage of yet, because currently no one knows how!

Just to let you know, the PS3 can do everything you listed above aswell, or is designed to do so only problem is that there's no offerings.

plus you can hit it with another os than the stock one and you'll have a tv mounted desktop pc.

the main reason is the money. I had luck and got my ps3 for a mere 100€ (150$) less than normal price cuz it was a discout event at the mall this day that included hifi hardware aswell, so the money I saved on it (yes I intended to buy a ps3 anyways) was just enough to get it there.

The 2nd, often refered reason is the games. it is right that the 360 offers more variety. but why? because at 1st, the 360 is longer on the market than the ps3, and 2nd the money (again), because publisher think twice when it comes to releasing a game on a powerful, older system that was the cheaper one right from the start (-> better game sells cuz more ppl have the platform) or to release it on a even more powerful, rather new system with the drawback of being rather expensive (-> not too much of a clientele for games).

so it's more than just the everlasting xbox vs ps thing. It's pretty much an offer and demand thing that makes the 360 better than the ps3.

BUT, when it comes to performance, the ps3 starts to sweat when the 360 is exhausted (exaggerated but you get the idea), so I think the ps3 is worth every cent in the long run; it definitely has the far better hardware.

I would have to go with the xbox 360. The main reason is that it is cheaper, and I'm also a hard core microsoft fan. I don't like that foregin stuff. Also like Frankie said, it works well with the PC. XBOX 360 RULES! MUHAHAHA!!!

PC for me, but if I had to chose, it would probably be the 360 because there are more games and it's cheaper.

I have to pick the Xbox360 because of the Halo series, high selection of games, and price.

PS3, it has more in development than the 360 (and pretty much anything on the 360 can be bought on a PC or PS3 anyway) it has some great unique games, like Gran Turismo, it is the most powerfull, the controllers feel more comfortable to me, it has the blu ray support.

I could go on all night if I had the time.

Which I do.

So here are some more reasons for the PS3:

-Free online play compared to the X box's subscription fee.

-More Powerful Graphics processor.

-Wireless controllers that charge from the USB rather than the X box's battery powered ones.

-Wireless built in, rather than paying for an external one like on the 360.

-Playstation Network Development tools will be more powerful than the XNA stuff when it comes available, I cant source that but i'm a developer so trust me on that.

-Sales figure: The PS3 took 14 months to sell 10million units, the 360 took 18. source

-Playstation isn't Microsoft. Thats a big reason for some people.

-Back compatablity with the HUGH library of Playstation 2 and 1 games. (bar a few games, but thats the same with all 3 7th gen consoles, PS3 now supports most PS2 titles)

Oh one last thing, I would like to note that, if it were not for Microsofts intervention, Halo would have infact been released on the Playstation 2.

As a Wii guy, I have little interest in either of these consoles except for a small handful of games (GTAIV, Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBigPlanet) but I would think the 360 would be the obvious choice since it has the most extensive library of games right now and an amazing online component. But... as you can see, I would personally go with the PS3 because I like their lineup more than the 360's assortment of shooters.

I have a Wii, but I am deciding right now weather to add a 360 or PS3 as well.

So far, I am thinking of getting a PS3 mainly because it has the Blu-Ray and you don't need to pay online fees.  Even though the 360 is cheaper, those fees would eat me up in the long run and I have heard of many, many more problems with the 360 than the PS3.

Unless anyone can convince me otherwise, I think I will be buying a PS3 rather than a 360 in the coming weeks.

Best,

-Haljackey

Do a search and the PS 3 is headed to the graveyard. The PS line up will start soon meaning there soon will be a PS 4 then a PS 5 and yes maybe a PS 6.

So wait until June when Sony makes the announcement at E3.2.gif

Yeah it didn't!

Anyways i would vote for the Xbox 360 because i have been a fan all my life.  And Xbox 360 has some great graphics to. Not to mention the great games it has like Halo 1, 2, and 3.  FIFA 08 and i think Call Of Duty 4.  And PGR 1, 2, 3, and 4.  Forza Motor Sports 1 and 2.  That is just a list of some great games it has.   I'm not so sure that the PS3 has all of these games.  But i love all them with passion.  No seriously you still these games from me and I KILL YOU9.gif

halo doesn't count, cuz it was planned for the ps until mr gates' battlebuddies came and and forced it to be an xbox exclusive. fifa and cod are on the ps3 aswell (I played the demos a while back).

pgr isn't available for ps3, same for forza.

but, in terms of racing games, GT is a ps3 exclusive and easily shoots out EVERY other racing game.

as for ps4 and stuff, me and tonkso said it already: not until 2012 at the earliest.

I just read a very speculative text today from not exactly inside ms, but from someone who follows the marketing strategies for about 20 years now, and the author guesses a new xbox to be released in 2012 (what a coincidence).

And I guess the same counts for the ps, +/- a year and/or a half

360 for me.

-Bigger library

-Amazing exclusives like: Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Forza 2, PGR, Fable 2, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell

-Otherwise most games not listed (that I like) come out on both consoles

-More powerful GFX processor

-XBox Live puts the Playstation Network to shame (you get what you pay for)

-Despite what Sony would want consumers to believe the PS3 IS NOT 2x as powerful as the 360.  The PS3 CPU is a hair more powerful, but the 360 has a simpler architecture and a slightly more powerful GFX processor, so it balances out in the end.

Why shouldn't Halo count?  So maybe it was originally going to be released on the PS2.  But it didn't and it's an Xbox exclusive now (regardless of how it happened)

I'm not saying the PS3 is a piece of crap, but for right now the 360 has a good edge over the PS3 (for now).  if I ever decide to buy an HDTV I will probably pick up a PS3 for the Blueray.  And I'm sure sales will even out between the 2 just because of that fact.  Sony will have the upside of the Blue-Ray and MS will have a bigger library and cheaper price.  That's why I won't be surprised at all when Microsoft comes out with a 360 with a built in Blue-Ray drive (for movies only, no game support).

We only need enjoy one day at a time.

Sony was afraid that the production cost of the ps3 put them too far in the hole that there might not be another playstation. but thats only what was said years ago. Ill be selling a couple in a week also.

I got both, I like both for different reasons. Both are good, though the Ps3 is a better system in terms of hardware.

But, the XBOX 360 has some great games as well, like the Halo and Forza games.

If I were getting one or the other, I would get a 360, because I really have never liked Sony's controller design and that the Xbox has more games that I would buy. Also, my cousin and uncle have 360s, so we could play and chat on XBL. However, I am in no way able to shell out like $300-$400 for a system (not including the money for games etc.), especially considering that I already have an Xbox, a GC, a DS, and a fairly recent PC. Hell, I play the games on my iPod more than any of those (especially Scrabble- I kick ass on it.).

    PS3

    _____

    - Blu-ray (One of the only upgradable blu-ray players available plus blu-ray won)

    - Bigger games possible (with MGS4 saying they can only juust squeeze everything on 360 and GTA IV has 360 'limitations')

    - No internet fees

    - Exclusive games and features like Gran Turismo 5 and PS3 Home + Little Big Planet

    - Last until 2016 (sony says a PS4 might not come til 2026 whereas next xbox in 2012 - means better value for money)

    - Realiability (stats are something like 40% of 360 owners have had to have replacement 360's or have had technical problems with their 360's)

-Amazing exclusives like: Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Forza 2, PGR, Fable 2, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cellquote>

    Ninja gaiden's on ps3.

    PS3. Why?

    GT5. quote>

Yeah a great game I can't wait for it - Shame you can't put 360's on the track and run over them 3.gif
