Remind me never to catch a plane or ride the light rail in your region....3.gif

No, but the university looks great, and Witburg has a awesome transit system....I'd just hate to be on a late train....

"Was that another train?"

"Yeah, but the good news is that we're going to make it to class on time..." *explosion heard in background*

Keep it up!44.gif

But the other one was smooth sailing..

Awesome videos.. keep up your high standards of work both here and at devotion as well..

I haven't commented in a long long time. But as I can see at least one thing has changed on ST. You're updates have gotten even better. The highway infrastructure is as always uniquely impressive. The university looks impressive and large to match the scale of your city (that's a good thing).

One thing I really liked was the "U-Turn" on the GLR. It's a great detail that a lot of people seem to leave out and yours looks just some of the major real cities. Great work.

Also, the Sanye A380 picture before the update is awesome! Great amalgamation and I would appreciate a link Haljackey. Even though the last pic was intended to be funny I do like your airport exterior colour. It looks great and has a complex layout (just like any real airport, right haha 3.gif)

Well the best of luck and I will be lurking around here (classes are lessening now so that means I will finally revive my CJ).

Cheers.

jacqulina:  Always great to hear from you Jackie. I like that funny pic too!

    Update time!

This update will be pretty straightforward.  I will be constructing/reconstructing a highway interchange in Witburg's southeast end.

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with SC4D's picture size limits (800x600 STRONGLY recommended for MD's).  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this Mayor's Diary (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Here is the interchange in its current state.  I quickly constructed this ground highway cloverleaf in order to establish a temporary connection to Witburg.  I knew some day I would need to upgrade it.

-Although its a cloverleaf, there is no weaving as only one of the four loop ramps are being used by traffic.

    Witburg-Apr9971235509454.jpg

Pretty pathetic eh?  I will be constructing a sunken stack interchange where this cloverleaf once was.

-Here, I have demolished the interchange and sunk the ground.

    Witburg-Apr15971235509752.jpg

The stack interchange fits perfectly into the new depression.

    Witburg-Apr19971235509774.jpg

Time to "hook it up" with the existing highways.

-Note the use of double-height elevated rail at the top of the image.  Without this feature, this interchange could never have been constructed here.

    Witburg-Apr23971235509922.jpg

Adding some snazzy support walls and a overpass.

    Witburg-Apr27971235511983.jpg

Adding lights, signs, and other eyecandy.

    Witburg-May20971235514629.jpg

A closeup of some of the new signage.  As you can see some of it is extra-large sized to ensure drivers know where they are going.

    Witburg-May23971235514657.jpg

The sunken segment is extended further east to connect with this avenue.

    Witburg-May3971235513586.jpg

A zoom out of the interchange in its current state.  I have also begun to add roads to this area in preparation for zoning and development.

-Sorry, this image is not available in full resolution.

Anyways, that will do it for now.

The GTR has had a huge increase in readership since the 2008 Trixe awards.  The number of  views have skyrocketed!

-Not convinced?  Check out Jill Jacobs Weekly Top 20 for proof.

What would you like to see in the next update?

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Maybe so, but exploding trains are not fun either....3.gif

Nice region view. My region is and probably will get nowhere near as dense as that is.

This page flip bug is getting really bad (someone get me the exterminator!3.gif). Maybe you should start considering making a new topic for this awesome CJ soon, like Schulmanator?

That's an awesome GLR network, especially when you can see it in action. By the way, just where did you get the license to drive that thing!

    Hi, haljackey,

That was you in the green Subaru that tried to cut me off, wasn't it?  I can't believe I managed to force you onto the sidewalk.  See, I got tired of driving, and got on that bullet train that you were piloting.  Man, you are merciless!  No wonder your views have gone up.  I was just trying to get to the U to sign up for that community ed class on defensive driving...and the other one on how to use GPS...

I like the buildings you've chosen for the university.  It's a combo of new and modern just like most campuses become as they grow.  That building with the globes is something else.  It's nicely detailed but kinda bright.  What is that white and blue building with the arches in the high tech corridor?  It almost looks like it could be a very modern chapel.  I also really like that rather pyramidal building across from the city college and the Caliban tower.  I think one thing your university needs is a bell tower, a campanile.  But that's just me.  It all looks really nice.  And I see there are plenty of parking garages.

    Nice stack interchange, too.

    Bye for now.
