Great work! Although I do suggest Gizmo's darker night mod... That would look good with the light towers...

Wonderful interchanges. Your citizens must be proud of the department of transportation in your region. If only I had the traffic density...(my biggest city so far has only 138K!)

You have an impressive and eye catching transit grid in operation (and definitely not a capital G grid!). And an equally impressive set of buildings which blend in seamlessly! 5 thumbs up for this update!

Smarty218:  Thank a lot!  I would like to try out that mod.  Would you be able to provide me a link to it?

gabry85: Interesting.  Like I said, I don't consider myself a "roadgeek" though.  All I want is a system that works!

bbfan02: Thanks, hope I can keep you impressed!

kj3400:  Thanks a lot!  I hope they are!  You need a big population to support such a big network!

Schulmanator: Thanks!  Its not a grid, but it can get "griddy" in some areas.  The buildings are what makes a city a city!  Just a bunch of roads won't get that city prospering!

    Update time!

Well, continuing the trend, here is highway/interchange showcase #3!  Hope you enjoy it!

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1440x900) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

I think my favorite pic in this showcase is the one where you've got the construction... I presume you're going to continue the collector-distributor ramps under highway? Anyhow, good work overall.

NMUSpidey: Thanks a lot!  Lets hope this envy stays Green as I continue to build, build, build!

hamish: Thanks!  Its okay if you miss an update.  As long as you see it before 2 years are up, because after that they are automatically deleted!

dfnva:  Interesting... glad you liked it!  I hope to do this.  Back on the first few updates I discuss why this interchange is such a pain.

wir3d:  I have high demand.  A high population and high number of YIMBEES (good things like parks) nearby helps achieve high density.  I also use the super-demand for commercial offices ONLY.

Smarty218: Thank you!  Glad you liked the last one!

    Update time!

Steering away from the Interchange showcase, I have a new interchange to showcase!  Although that may not make any sense to you, the story and pictures below explain exactly why.

    Pictures:

Click on the Images to view them in FULL RESOLUTION!  (Please see my PICTURE INFORMATION on my last post if you are new here.  Thanks!)

Here is exactly why.  There is no interchange to showcase!

    http://aycu01.webshots.com/image/46920/2005583851873810928_rs.jpg

    That is... Until Now!

    http://aycu17.webshots.com/image/45096/2005566913255926001_rs.jpg

    http://aycu39.webshots.com/image/46238/2005517989722947157_rs.jpg

    http://aycu25.webshots.com/image/43664/2005594451463799851_rs.jpg

Here it is nearly completed.  The area around the new interchange has been zoned as well.  To the north, the highway widens from 8 to 10 lanes through a Multi-RHW configuration.

    http://aycu30.webshots.com/image/46029/2005586821247372602_rs.jpg

That should make it easier for motorists in this part of town.  The tunnel was removed and replaced with an overpass, so this shouldn't hinder cross-traffic.  Drivers on the highway can totally bypass this interchange by driving on the express (or inner) lanes of the roadway.

    Best,

    -Haljackey

bbfan02:  It is intense!  You'd get confused?  Its a simple interchange LOL!

hamish:  You can get into the express lanes via transfers.  There are many transfers displayed in my previous updates, so have a look at those!  Another transfer can be found in my first photo in this update!

    -Congrats on 666 posts!

dfnva: Thanks!  I am basing mine off of Highway 401 around Toronto.  There is an excellent photo gallery of the collector/express system found here if you're interested:

KingTitan: Thanks a lot!  "Although i do like to use the actual one's available already".  What do you mean by that?  There was nothing there before!

-Also, I heard you are a CJ reviewer?  Does this one "have what it takes" to be reviewed?  Feel free to post or PM me about it!

Smarty218:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Glad you like the sound walls!

    Update time!

Back to my interchange showcase!  I will continue from where I left off in Interchange Showcase #3! (my first post on this page)

    Pictures:

Click on the Images to view them in FULL RESOLUTION!  (Please see my PICTURE INFORMATION on my first post on this page if you are new here.  Thanks!)

North of the new interchange displayed in the last update, the Multi-RHW swells into a 12 lane configuration before splitting off to local roads.  The express lanes continue to form the remainder of the highway north of this interchange.

    http://aycu08.webshots.com/image/45007/2005191291410272705_rs.jpg

A more centralized view of the interchange.  This was my first interchange to use the MIS, and I posted its development back on page 5.  It is now 100% open to traffic and is working much better than the interchange that used to be here.

    http://aycu31.webshots.com/image/43310/2005143434116669385_rs.jpg

A y-interchange near a RHW.  There is construction on the RHW to improve the curves here as well as fixing the partial interchange at the bottom left of this photo.

More great interchanges! Is there any way to link express and collector lanes without the collector ending altogether? I wish there were exits to the left as well.

That's pretty cool that you're on wikipedia. Guess you're just that good, eh?

Oh, I'm sorry, just ranting on...

So now you're taking Wikipedia by storm, huh? It just just gets better and better.

All the previous interchanges are great, no complaints here.

    Can't wait to see more...

I'll bet there are a lot of accidents at the interchange in your penultimate shot with the risque statue there. haha. I don't think my eyes would be on the road.

I was looking at some of the pictures in the links you had, they were interesting. I found it interesting that the signage is very similar to that of the United States but one thing that struck me was the use of blue guide signs (I hesitate to say blue BGS) on the c-d ramps, I don't know if you're from Toronto, if you know why that is? Maybe to differentiate between mainline signage? That used to be the case on I-395 in Northern Virginia as the HOV lanes had black signs. They were replaced with regular green guide signs back in the mid-1990s.
