Nice stream... I notice it ends on a beach littered with blue beach towels. Did your resident pick them up in bulk while visiting a new town near a volcano?

As for your diamond... how's about a town clock with plazas around it... and name it the Peter Parker Plaza!

There it is, the beach again, very nice beach front. I feel like hanging out on that beach and having a (Lipton) iced tea 2.gif.

I have no idea for that 2x3 spot... a fountain maybe 4.gif.

Great work on Lipton! I fully agree that you need some more custom content. But, I see you are improving. I love that stream by the way!

Wow, how lucky are you guys?  How many updates in one week is this?  Hopefully this will be another step forward in my ability to show good content!

    REPLIES:

granto93: Thank you!  I'm working on the whole adding stuff from the STEX and LEX.  I'm picky though and it takes some time before I hit the "download" button.  Also dependencies are a pain.

jacqulina: Thank you!  Perhaps we'll see more streams later down the road.

    Hester: It loves you too.

Schulmanator: I've actually heard they were imported from a far away land.  Hmm, I wonder where that would be...  A clocktower?  Not a half bad idea.  I love the name, too!

Philscafe: Thank you!  Which flavor?  Fountain.  Hm, maybe a fountain AND a clocktower?

    vivydu29: Thank you!

bbfan02: Thank you!  Haha, working on it...

    And now, let's head north.

    2270335439_7807a10833_o.jpg

The highway from Port Matthew cuts through a couple towns (I believe we've been there, but I can't remember).  It winds its way through the town center before passing on into the frontier.

    2270335429_be5e9f7521_o.jpg

Northport is the original capital of the region, but was moved away to be closer to the region's physical and commercial center in Port Matthew.  The Fallen Soldiers Monument stands as a reminder of those who fought and died for the region's freedom.

    2271128404_91ca6f5d94_o.jpg

Near Capital Square, a number of small businesses have set up shop, as well as a minor league football team.  Unfortunately as a senior prank, students at the local high school broke in and repainted the field and erected mock goals to mess with the football players and fans.

    2270335427_8c4116394d_o.jpg

Best Buy and Barnes & Noble have set up shop in Northport.

    2271128400_3e52f1f448_o.jpg

The Capital Square Mall and its two statues is a very popular destination for tourists and visiting businessmen after meetings.

    2271128398_dbe20d6ff6_o.jpg

And, the overview!  After this, we will continue northwards to the very edge of Port Matthew proper.  Thank you to everyone who takes the time to look (and not leave comments, haha) and thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave comments!  I'm working on more custom content.  Thanks again for commenting!

Looks like a nice place despite not being the capitol anymore. Is there a capitol site still in town?

The new water mod is definitely better. 4.gif I used to use that old one too and it looked too cartoony...

And the medium-density suburbs are quite nice too. Lotsa Maxis content though. But it isn't easy to find custom content in medium density residential. Not a popular BAT choice it seems. Your city looks good regardless though! 9.gif

Wow, love that big underground mall in the night shot especially, the statues are a great addition! I would suggest less on/off ramps, though. Excellent work nonetheless! 4.gif

try not to use a gridsystem as much as you do.. the pictures are really nice, but it could be more realistic without only grids. Good luck!

So this time we're really going out into the country.  We'll head north from Northport and then circle back southwards along the coast, stop in Port Matthew again, and continue southwards.  But first:

    REPLIES!

vivydu29: Thank you for your kind words!

jacqulina:  Thank you.  This is an older city, so it doesn't show off what I've learned recently.

Schulmanator: Yeah, it's not a bad little town.  The capitol site, alas, burned in a fire.  The War Monument stands in its place.

zelgadis:  Haha, thank you.  Yeah, I kind of agree...  I looked everywhere for hours trying to find suitable midrises.  They're not all that common.  Some of the ones I saw were rather plain and I want to try to keep a more modern look to my cities, so I'm stuck with European and Houston buildings (although I found some nice smaller buildings that those with sharp eyes may be able to catch in upcoming updates...)

    allez l'om: Mendokusai!

gabry85: Yeah, I think that's probably the best shot from the set.  I worked a bit on my highway today too, so...

    2282172195_9dbf7cbbd3_o.jpg

I think that's quite an improvement (sorry for the lone dilapidated building in there, I thought I bulldozed the sucker3.gif)

Gn_leugim: Haha, save your money, my friend!  I did a lot of looking for the train stations and downloaded them through the STEX and a number of Japanese BAT websites.  If you pm I may be able to send you links to the ones you want.

Simtastico: Haha, I'm working on improving that aspect of my game.  Maybe today's update will be a bit better.

    UPDATE:

    2271126034_ce2685b989_o.jpg

Due north of Northport are two small farming towns with the bare edges of Northport commerce encroaching onto the countryside.  The first is Cassiopea, complete with a Taco Bell and a Little Caesar's

    2271126044_0cd08eca54_o.jpg

The same strip is also home to a Toys R Us and a Chili's.  All the conveniences of the big city right nearby (although for Christmas shopping, Port Matthew is still the area's premier shopping district2.gif)

    2271126048_65da3d57ba_o.jpg

Two farmers own most of the land in these towns.  They saved money by ordering the same design for the silos and barns at each of their plots.

    2271126038_9d6d455fc1_o.jpg

And Cassiopea is the more developed of the two despite the lack of a highway...

    2271126052_1e91afb45e_o.jpg

...Which Hanford sports.  This is really more of a link to the rest of the world anyways, and people use it more to go to Northport and points south than Hanford.

    2270335419_d523a92d47_o.jpg

And this is the northernmost point of the Port Matthew region.  No one is really sure what lies beyond since PM is the center of the universe2.gif

    2270335423_bbdb72c3f8_o.jpg

And the rest of Hanford.  Development really gets rural the farther one travels from the city!

And just to let you know that I really am working to make this a more interesting place, a couple teasers of new developments in Port Matthew:

Nice looking famrs! I like it when you have farms over hills!

I also think you should look at the way I set my farms up!

My way is to put a bunch of trees and have little spaces for farms....

Lemon... or I might try some new flavor.

I like the sunken plazas & Capital Square in Northport and the rural feel of Casiopeia.

Wow, you sure did get a lot of the grain elevators. Some people don't like those, but I rather like them. 4.gif But the farms in SC4 are rather difficult to develop anyway...

Wow, PM (Port Mathew) and Vicinity is growing quite a bit. Are there any cities isolated on islands harboring ancient secrets!!!??? Or any small towns nestled in the middle of mountains awaiting impending doom from volcanoes!!!??? lol, keep up the good work.

This week has been much busier than usual for me, so I haven't been able to spend nearly the amount of time I'd like playing and posting on ST.  But, here are some replies and some vintage SC2K pics to keep you all satiated!

    REPLIES:

bbfan02: Thank you!  I thought about downloading some farm buildings, but I'm really dang lazy so...

Schulmanator: Haha, I miss Taco Bell so much.  There are no Mexican restaurants in Japan AT ALL (and I know Taco Bell isn't REAL Mexican, but whatever2.gif).

GreekMan: Thank you!  I was shooting for a bit more like you described.  There is a lot of countryside surrounding Port Matthew, so quite possibly I'll be able to progress towards something a bit prettier.

    Hester: Thank you!

Smarty218: Thank you!  I like the sculpture too.

Philscafe: Lemon, no problem.  Thank you, also!

    jacqulina: Thank you!

Gn_leugim: Thank you!  Good luck in your searching!

zelgadis: Yeah...  They're a bit easier than in SC3K, though.

Joetropian1: Hahaha, no isolated island volcano harbors.  Thank you!

Joetropian1: Again, I'm still in development (re: I haven't had much time to play but maybe something new will show up this weekend2.gif)

So here is the ORIGINAL Port Matthew.  I worked on this city in college (all my original SC2K cities were lost in a computer crash so in college I created new ones, most of which I showed you earlier).

    2082463861_c1fe3d81da_o.jpg

Downtown Port Matthew is at the mouth of the Thunder River and surrounds Thunder Bay.  It is a pretty exciting place to be with an observation tower, sports stadium (shared between the football and baseball teams) and a great deal of shopping and art galleries.  It also has a vibrant nightlife.  A subway system helps whisk people through the city.2082469321_ef8caaecf1_o.jpg

Thunder Falls is the wealthiest and most attractive neighborhood in Port Matthew.  The waterfall is a thing of immense beauty, and most of the landowners have purchased the property to maintain much of the natural beauty of the area.

    2296605435_fdb73fdaf7_o.jpg

You know how you can zoom way in on SC4 and see all sorts of great details, like billboards and people walking around?  You can even find different types of cars driving around!  We have come a long way since SC2K, haven't we?  Anyways, this is Port Matthew University, home of the Thunderbolts!  The campus is quite large, but also very comfortable with Campus Park where many students and professors relax when not curing cancer or solving Gordian Knots.

    2296605439_578aef6bd9_o.jpg

Holy jeez, the repetition...  This is Crescent Lake.  The bay is a low-lying area, and the strip of land between the lake and the bay is actually a sandbar that was extended when the city began running out of room to build.  There is some industry nearby, and you can *just* see the tip of the airport.

    2082463883_b0df59d8ff_o.jpg

And the overview.  I used this style of landmass for a city lost in my high school computer crash, but with a different name I appropriated from an anime I once watched.  Ah, those were the days.

So, thanks for watching, and hopefully Sunday or Monday I'll have a new update with SC4.  So, before you ask, no I'm not giving up on modern SC4 Port Matthew.  Comments are always appreciated!  Go Defenders!

    EDIT: 450 Posts!  Ya
