I like the region! Awesome! Cool airport too. I'm going to check their flight schedule to see if I can catch a red eye to Philly!

Guess who's back?  I thought about honoring Schulmania or Jargeah with my return, but to single out just one cj would be to exclude so many great and deserving creators.  So, I'll just honor myself and commence with posting as usual9.gif

Thanks to everyone who added my cj to their sigs.  I'm can't express how thankful I am to you guys.  So, first things first: REPLIES

cleaner475: Haha, thanks for the kind words.  As I've seen more and more cities, I have begun to notice that my water mod looks less tropical than weird.  Still, I haven't seen others use it, so I'm content to be weird but unique!

bbfan02: Haha, see above.  Thank you!  The interchange is part of my attempt to be a bit more interesting while remaining realistic.  My skills will continue to improve.

suplado: Thank you!  That is high praise indeed coming from you.

Schulmanator: Thank you.  I am merely trying my best.

The Big Z: Thank you!  I've been working on this for almost a year now.  I definitely have no plans to stop!

krbe: I may try that eventually, if for no other reason than to see how it works.  I rather like the odd terraced look though.

suomi2005: Thank you!  I spent almost a day on that airport.

jacqulina: Haha, thank you!  The time one puts in really does pay off in the end, doesn't it?

    Joetropian1: Haha, uniqueness!  That's what I've been saying2.gif

nottheboss: Well, now that it's being brought back to the front page you won't be able to miss it;D

Hester: Haha, thank you!  Keep on lurking, Hester.  I'm glad to have heard from you at all2.gif

zelgadis: Wow, that's quite the generation leap.  2k is still one of my all time faves.  If you're lucky I may add some SC3k to my cj.  Thank you!

    sims co.: Thank you!

Khorasaurus: Thank you.  I've always had a thing for coasts...

Smarty218: Thank you.  I am continually trying to improve how it looks and functions.  And Star Wars rocks indeed.  May the Force be with you.

Hester: Thank you!  NWA or JAL should be able to pencil you in.  However, it may not be nonstop quite yet.  PMI still has a ways to grow9.gif

zelgadis: (again, haha) I used the same pack suplado! uses in Jargeah.  I believe it's the SWAP pack coupled with ACB.  I could be wrong though, it's been more than a month since I downloaded it.

And for a special update, some live shots of Port Matthew Imperial Palace and some views of sunset and nighttime over the city itself.

And one last look at sunset in Port Matthew, looking west over I-12.

Next week, a real update with SC4 pics!  And thus heralds the return to the city of Port Matthew!

Ah, I'm so glad to be online again.  I really missed this website.  I can't believe I lurked for so long.  You guys are all so nice, but alas I was shy.  Or busy.  I very well could have been busy.  Anyways,

    REPLIES:

connorc24: Thank you, James.  I'm trying my best. I have an extra special pic today I worked on for like 12 hours.  Ok, maybe more like 3, but still for quite some time.

Hester:  Haha, thank you!  I'll be around!

    jacqulina: Yes, definitely.  Thank you!

bbfa02: Thank you!  I'll keep em coming!

Smarty218: Osaka is great.  You have to do this thing that they do called "kuidaore," which basically means eat and drink until you burst.  There is so much great food there and the beer flows like rivers.  I highly recommend it.

Schulmanator: Haha, thank you!  Glad to be back.  Sounds like you have some pretty cool neighbors9.gif

    And now, UPDATE!

I've done some periodic alterations to Port Matthew, trying to get the commute times down and fix destressed buildings.  I still have a bit of a problem with that, though, leading Port Matthew officials to begin planning a new underground rail service to complement the current transit system.  The groundwork and final lines have yet to be begun, but it is said that PMers won't be disappointed (and how could they be disappointed really, with commute times hovering around 1 hour...)

    2208884998_71fc330ee0_o.jpg

It is said that the new subway will begin construction here, since the Defenders' Square underground mall already sprawls beneath Southport.

    2208885014_3d62801edb_o.jpg

Port Matthew Tower is always lit at night, creating a love/hate relationship with neighbors.  It looks fantastic, but it shines into many bedrooms...  The mayor controversially told them to get thicker curtains.  Despite initial bad press, most found it a reasonable suggestion and many people now sleep better.

    2208090767_832987cdd5_o.jpg

Overlooking Port Matthew Tower is the Imperial Palace.  Built in recent history as the home of an eccentric automotive company founder, it has since become a treasured landmark.  The surrounding parks are a welcome spot of green to workers in surrounding buildings.

    2208885018_b31832a86a_o.jpg

The Cliffs has benefitted greatly from the New Crossing.  Commute time have been greatly reduced, and buildings no longer go immediately abandoned after commuting is discovered to be a huge pain.  Land reclamation is being done to make way for new developments.

    2208885006_1f239c8bc4_o.jpg

On the other side of the New Crossing (sometimes called Shimbashi), East Bank has further developed.  Denser construction and the rapid growth of coastal cities Streeter Bay and Rumikoville have created a huge push for a subway to be dug by area residents and businesses.

    2208090731_0985d846c8_o.jpg

East Bank Plaza also has newer developments.  I am pleased that this area also has limited repetition.  There does seem to be a problem with lots that plop down and simply say "Blank $$$."  No one seems to know how it happens.  Apparently there are even apartments and offices in these blank lots.  Some speculate it is the beginning of an alien invasion, but those people are ignored by those who think there is a bug in the Matrix.  Time will tell who is right.

Wow! That's a great map! Looks as real as they get. And quite a thorough system. I'll bet it helps a lot with commutes.

BTW, sorry Ohio State lost this weekend

It's looking really nice there! I particularly like the positioning of the castle. 4.gif

That monorail junction near Port Matthew Tower could use a bit of work. It's a little messy as it is. Perhaps a slight rearranging of the roads to accomodate a smaller link there?

Well, this will be just a quick update with the announcement of Port Matthew's intention to join the Simtropolis Hockley League.  Matthew Dome officials have been looking high and low for teams to put into their arena, but have missed deadlines and come up short just prior to negotiations.  This time, however, the entire city has gotten  behind the project and people are very excited about the prospect of seeing professional hockey in their own town!

    2229885124_c6a20035c9_o.jpg

Port Matthew, now home to the Port Matthew Defenders STHL team. With the added transit capacity to soon be offered by the new subway system (still in the design and planning phase, please be patient!), it is expected that each and every one of the tickets for every game will be sold, and people will show up to cheer their beloved Defenders, no matter how much they stink2.gif!

AAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNND, a new shot of the PMDome:

    2229935098_6079a770df_o.jpg

    Now, REPLIES!

Schulmanator: Man, that took a long time to make.  But hard work sure does pay off!  BTW, so am I, but hey, not the end of the world.

Smarty218: Thank you!  More is on the way.  I'm planning a subway system and a special treat of a city soon...

Shanna: Thank you!  Once I get Gonzo's night mod and fix the BAT lighting thing, I'll post more4.gif

bbfan02: Thank you!  I'm glad to know I'm improving, even if only a little9.gif

anarchy0029: Thank you, see above reply2.gif

mentarman: Already there.  Love the thread!

suomi2005: Haha, the abandonment really irks me.  My new subway system should help also.

canuck3360: Haha, I'll just ignore that comment since you're a Tigers fan, and everyone knows the Tigers are the best MLB team EVER.  Well, my next vacation is in May, so perhaps I'll have some time to work on the Superior Dome then...

    zelgadis:  Here you go!

    2229935102_6079a770df_o.jpg

That bothered me too.  At that point I had *just* finished the arduous task of putting a "sunken" highway on an incline and had to reroute all my monorail lines.  The hill made it difficult to work with, and I wanted to maintain my road grid, so it ended up ugly.  This looks MUCH better.  I hope you approve!

That's all for now.  More to come, plus a surprise!  (at least I hope it turns out ok...)

Wow, looks interesting. I will definitely be waiting for the next update. Personally I hate, hate, hate, hate, etc. the Tokyo Tower but it looks nice in your city. The highways look great, it always seems like I have to double the amount of damage a normal disaster would cause just to build it and end up with half my city in ruins. Keep up the good work!

PS, it would be interesting to see that mountain in Port Matthew get steeper if more land

    around it gets flattened out.

PSS, glad to hear there are other Ohio State fans in the world... I was born there grew up there and lived there all my life. Come to think of it, I've only been out of state twice.
