Amazing region pics, I now get a feeling for the true height of Defender's Cliffs. The transportation map was great too.

I love your region and nice to hear that you are expanding your use of non-maxis stuff it will really do some diffrence. I think you are doing a really great job with the maxis content allready.

Keep up the good work.

Wow, two pages.  Awesome.  Anyways, REPLIES!

bbfan02:  Thank you!  There will be continued expansion!

    Shanna:  Thank you!

    2nerdy4u: Thank you!

Smary218: Thank you!  Hopefully I'll stick this long enough to fill it up!

jacqulina:  Thank you!  With so many beautiful cities on this (and other) website it's hard NOT to be inspired.  I just hope that you all aren't too bored with my mediocre and slightly ugly cities2.gif

suomi2005:  Thank you!  So far my computer hasn't been bogged down too much by what I've already dl'ed.  It just takes its time loading the game.  My next machine will be bigger, stronger, and faster.

Somebody:  Hah, ok.  I was aiming for nice patches of nature to break up the constant concrete of the city, but I know they can be made much more elegantly.  This is something I aim to improve.  Sorry to have hurt your eyes so.

suplado!: Thank you!  This is probably going to end up like a Japanese-style city where it just expands and expands leaving nothing but houses and mountains across the landscape.  It's really quite something.  Tokyo just goes and goes...  I'll show some pictures in the following update.  Today we're going somewhere a little different.

And thus we segway to THE MOUNTAINS!

    2056684590_21237c9561_o.jpg

Mount Ahrens is just north of Port Matthew.  It is at the base of a rather sizable mountain chain and the gateway to a vast park.  Because of the unnatural way it was formed, some of the shapes are a little odd, adding to the strange beauty of the region.

    2056684592_f111d2e6f9_o.jpg

The north end of Mt Ahrens is the tale end of civilization.  A few high-tech labs have flourished in the shadows of the mountains.  People here are near work and near play.  It is thus a happy place!

    2056684604_d606a7ac67_o.jpg

Heading west, the town has spilled into the bottom of a valley as water would do.  The houses have melded into the land.  There will be no highway through here, just a two-laner, Michigan style!

    2056684610_26ea0233d0_o.jpg

Ahrens Square.  This is the center of the town, and the last sign of civilization on the way to the wilds (eventually I'll have a name for it.  "The wilds" will suffice for now).

    2056684616_0fbc4d6db5_o.jpg

And finally, an overview of this fair town, looking west-southwest.  Next time, I'll remember to make the visual settings a bit higher so we can all see the little houses in the distance.  Sorry about that!

Once more, thank you for your comments!  I hope to continue to improve and become more interesting!

*EDIT*  Changed "east" to "west."  Haha, sorry about that!  Got turned around there 9.gif

    Great Update NMUSpidey.

And no way...your city is not ugly friend. Just like jacky said above....You will see you learn and improve on things...believe me...I have LOL. Read a lot on other CJ's too, they help with creating your own ideas also, and listen to contructive criticism. If you ever need help friend. Please PM me. 4.gif Ill be back again for more.

Just a side not....there is a tool in the God -Mode that will smooth out terraine too. Will make it a lot easier to biuld onto smooth areas...even slightly hilly, it will make your property surrounding your structures look more custon, rather than "block-brick walls" It's a trial by error process. But your CJ is wonderful. 4.gif

Hello everyone!  Thank you very much for the kind words.  I suppose I'm overly critical of myself2.gif

    Anyways, REPLIES!

jacquilina:  Haha, I know what you mean!  Next time we're in central Port Matthew you'll have seen many changes since the last visit!

KingTitan: Thank you very much.  I actually think I have improved dramatically since even earlier this year!  I'm starting to become a bit more proud (prouder?  I'm not sure...) of my creation, and I think this next update is some of my best work yet!  I'll keep the God-Mode thing in mind as well.

suomi2005: Thank you!  Hopefully I'm a few floors up from the bottom at this point!  I have high hopes for myself.

Skram: Thank you!  I like the rock mod too.  The stock brown look was just kind of dirty and ugly, huh?

bbfan02: Haha, maybe at the top of the mountains?  But imagine having to plow the driveway in the winter.  Although if you can afford to live up there, you can hire a bulldozer!

The Big Z: Thank you!  More trees are coming.  Eventually I want to get the really cool and realistic-looking trees I have seen in some other cjs.

suplado!: Haha, I thought that was a good way to frame that particular picture.  I still have a couple more from Mt Ahrens I'll use later hehe.

Schulmanator: Thank you!  Mt Ahrens is a sledder's dream come true!  The kids LOVE snow days.

OffTopic: Haha, I hope you'll like today's update even more!

2nerdy4u: Yeah, I think so.  It's difficult to get the roads to curve properly.  In SC2k everything was evenly spaced and I felt I could follow the hills' curves much easier (and prettier).  The hills don't pay attention to the grid and it makes it tricky!  Of course, you already  knew that!

    UPDATE!

Staying to the west of Port Matthew, we have Mount Plains (haha, a great name if I do say so myself) and Bedford.  Mount Plains was originally a farming community, but with the expansion of Port Matthew its economy has grown and changed to more high-tech things.  The farms have moved farther into the countryside.

    2069977923_9af94718e5_o.jpg

First, Downtown Mount Plains.  Mount Plains has a radio station (WPLN, playing all your favorite country hits!) and is home to the Port Matthew Fairgrounds.  Midrise development helps ease the transition from dense Port Matthew to the countryside.  These are the "foothills" for the steel mountains of the city.

    2070771504_ec45e25f17_o.jpg

Moving away from downtown, we have SUBDIVISIONS!  I grew up in one of these outside of Toledo.  This is almost like home!

    2069977929_3a5615f441_o.jpg

I'm  just so proud of these.

    2070771506_5d8c27f1aa_o.jpg

I should be exclusively a suburban developer!

    2070771500_c554c10239_o.jpg

Mount Plains was originally two small, poor farm towns with dismal education and no prospects beyond the farms.  As PM expanded, so did MtP, and a new artery was built to slice through unused farmlands to connect the two villages!  Man, I can barely contain my excitement!

    2070771508_94788262ff_o.jpg

I have to say though, without simgoober and Deadwoods, none of this is really possible.  Those two BATers are just awesome.

I had the settings too low when I took the pictures, so an overview will come w

Very cool city. I like the mountain and peninsula in the bay downtown.

My favorite part is how the grid continues no matter what the topography is - it reminds me a lot of San Francisco.

Those are really cool subdivisions. I know I don't have the patience to make my suburbs that realistic.

I also like your mountain town two updates ago.
