I dunno, those avatars look far too cartoonish, even more than Sims. I would prefer a more grown-up set of avatars, personally. The scenery screenshots make up for it, though.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

Hmm... this looks vaguely familiar... 9.gif

FrostBank_000.jpg

Not an exact replica or even the same height but I think it's pretty clearly modeled after it. There's no mistaking that characteristic crystal roof! Too bad they can't use the Frost Bank logo to make the so-called "owl eyes".

Kind of flattering to see this! Even thought I'm not a particular fan of such a glass dagger being in my city, but hey, that's what carpet-baggin SOB's from Cali and NY do to a good honest city! LOL

Also, those are some visually jarring angles when the road goes from slope to flat and back again at that intersection. At least a little more grading might save the suspensions of those cars. All in all though very exciting- nice to see the inclusion of climate.

MODERATOR EDIT: Dude I'm sorry, I meant to quote you and instead hit 'edit'... so some of your post was cut out. I'm an idiot 3.gif -89

EDIT: Dood, you're killing me. 14.gif No worries. I'm sure it was only some of the greatest prose written in the 21st century. . .

I agree, I hope there is a way to make more realistic slopes.

Yeesh, not too fond of the two new screenshots. That first one with the snow has a cartoonish Santa's workshop feel to it and the slopes do not look like an incline I would like to drive on. Also, the curving roads in the second one look very angular. 34.gif

I quite like the first Screenshot, dispite the 'Santa's Workshop' vibe it gives off. I hope that all types of buildings can get covered in snow on these winter maps, not just the wooden Alpine looking ones.

Not particularily interested in the GEMs or ski trails in general, however I love that rocky, snow-covered mountain in the background! 19.gif

I glad that everyone is so happy that this game is coming out... I ain't impressed All i want to see is one flyover ramp ... a city with real freeways and not big avenues with ridiculously big sidewalks...

I probably won't make use of the Ski GEM but it sounds really good, reminds of the 'Theme' games that used to be around, Theme Park, Theme Hospital etc.

I love the terrain though, it looks like World in Conflict terrain. The village also reminds me of Cascade Falls from WiC, although, I bet you can't Nuke it... 3.gif

Wow, I must say I am impressed. I just hope this isn't as big of a failure as City Life. I bought CL and could not install it on my computer. I got NO support from Monte Cristo at ALL. I spent almost three days trying to get support from them. My poor, 10 year old mind.... I still remember that from three years ago, wasting my hard earned $40. I will buy this game at some point, though, I know that, I just won't forget the City LIfe situation.

Holy Sidewalks, Batman! Look at the size of those suckers in the last screenshot.

EDIT: I hope that was done BEFORE the blog post on reducing their size.
