I was interested by the trees in this last update. I never cover my tiles in large numbers of trees, since I'm addicted to the Mayor Mode trees. I like them better, but they're impossible to place in large numbers. Now, if someone would mod the nicer models into the easy placement system in God Mode, that would be really helpful.

I'm looking forward to the airport!

Well first the update. It's great, as usual. You've really mastered the art of making a small peidmont town. Keep it up!

And yes I too sometimes forget Mechanicsville is in Hanover. The border follows the chickohominy river at some points, but then breaks from it and then goes back or something. US-360 is the worst road in Hanover, the traffic is horrible. Especially north of I-295. The amount of lanes needs to be at least doubled.

Now, why did I not discover this CJ sooner?  It's not fair that I didn't discover it until now! 4.gif

I'm not quite caught up yet, but I do plan to get there.  You are doing a magnificent job here, Dan.  The signs and traffic signals, as well as the maps, really do add so much realism to this CJ.  This has officially made the "must-read" list for me.

EDIT: Oh, no, I got page-flipped.

I haven't been around here lately, but you've been doing a great job. Like the HOV arrangement, though it would be nice if we had reversible HOV lanes like I-95 and 395. Denton looks really nice, and the new traffic lights behind the old ones are very realistic. Congrats on the Trixie, I nominated you for it and the first comment is actually mine. Looking for more. 44.gif

Before I get to replies, I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's support of "Winchester" and I am honored and humbled to win a Trixie and be nominated for 3 other Trixie awards for my work on this CJ.

    repliesnewoy3.jpg

SimsAmerica: Thanks, the Peg corner shops look great in small towns.

Raysfan16: Thanks, glad you enjoyed the update!

DeathtoPumpkins: Congratulations on your Trixie. I thought it would be cool to show old signals with new ones waiting to be turned on. Glad you liked the rural areas too.

Bruce (Schulmanator): Congratulations on your Trixie. I nominated you for best use of custom content. Glad you liked the SR-630 intersection.

Hawkeye9: Thanks, glad you liked how Denton looked.

Haljackey: Congratulations on your Trixie. I forget what I nominated you for, but I think it was Awe-Inspiring CJ. I like the additional FAR pieces with the new NAM. Glad you liked the update.

Equilibria: That's a good idea... realistic God mode trees. Sounds like a job for you to do haha. I love ploppable trees for their realism, but for the density I like, I put in a lot of God-mode trees in God-mode.

Travis (SCDawg): Thanks. I really like making small towns, something that was hard for me to do in the beginning. I don't think I've been on US-360 east of Richmond. How does its traffic compare to the sprawl along US-250/Broad St and US-60/Midlothian Tpke?

    ComputerGuy890100: Thanks!

Metarvo: Thanks! Glad you've enjoyed what you've seen and hope to see you back for future updates. I took a look at your thread about power lines. They look really cool and would really enhance rural/suburban areas. I'll be looking forward to the completed versions!

KJ3400: Thanks for your Trixie nomination and comment. It means a lot and I'm honored. Reversable HOV lanes would be cool, though I like the I-270-esque (well a hybrid of I-66, I-64 and I-270) set-up of I-34 in "Tidewater"....Something I've been working on with OWR's and ground highways, but without the realism and credibility of the new RHW

Packersfan: With regard to foliage are you also referring to the rocks, weeds and flowers? I use the RRP Pasture Flora, which is available on the SC4D Lex. Congratulations on your Trixie Nominations... while it ended up futile (because of me lol), I nominated you for Best Roadgeek CJ

Benedict: Thanks! I thought I'd "update" the graphics I used to some higher quality ones. Glad you like the new logo/signature too. I think it invokes more of what my CJ is about than the other logos I've used. Congrats on your Trixie nominations. I nominated you for best Story in a CJ

Penguin007: Thanks! Glad you liked the new interchanges. It's been fun playing around with the new RHW. Hopefully I'll see a new CJ from you soon!

And now... a "Teaser" of an upcoming update which shall be completed when I have more time:

Thanks for visiting and thanks again for your support!!

Is that airport built on a hill? That could be a bit hairy!

Congrats on your Trixie win; it is well-deserved. I don't often comment in CJs much as I used to, but I'm trying to make my rounds...

although this might involve a mod but if you type in buildingplop in the Cheat codes box it lets you plop growable buildings, theres one for that peg lot that lets you plop it on the actual corner with the parking behind it, Its called country country store. the things in alphebetical order but they may be under odd names and it could be somewhere else like most of Pegs stuff is listed as Peg but its under just country country club, its on the corner like JBsimio's stuff.

I got a CJ, Waterbridge, i'm not a hyperlink expert but search it and it should come up :)

Congrats on the Trixie Dan! Well deserved. The airport looks great.

US-360 isn't quite as bad as Broad, but it's worse than Midlothian is. 360 is definitely catching up to Broad though, the whole area has exploded with sprawl, seems like every time I go through there a new strip mall has opened up. Wouldn't suprise me if they reach Pole Green Rd by the end of 2010.

Looking forward to the Airport Update!

That looks like a nice airport, Dan.  Who knows, maybe you'll do some airport signage.  1.gif   I really like your traffic signals, and the road numbers make this CJ incredibly easy to follow.  For some reason, I started to think about "ghost malls" when I was reading earlier.  I have seen some myself, and it always deeply saddens me 8.gif, but this sort of thing is part of life.

Congratulations on the Trixie, Dan.  To tell you the truth, it was the Trixie that helped me discover W&tMP.  I have read this magnificent CJ from cover to cover, and I am now ready for any updates you have, Dan.  Keep up the good work!  44.gif

Great start to the new ride. Those rural roads were what I was looking for, nice details along the roads.

I also liked the airport teaser.... I'm looking forward to the roadgeek attempt of an airport 2.gif.

And congrats to your Trixie, Dan! Very well deserved!

Hello Dan! Sorry for my absence lately, you won't believe how busy I've been. At least now it's calming back down again. 4.gif Congratulations on your Trixie! 9.gif If there's anyone who deserved the Roadgeek related one, it's definitely you.

Nice work so far on the airport, I know I can't wait to feast my eyes upon it. 3.gif

Heblem: Thanks, glad you like the traffic signals, especially considering the cool roads and signals you've come up with.

Raysfan16: Ha, not sure if my airport is all that great, but thanks. Thanks for the nomination too.

Dan (Dsrwhat316): Thanks. Congrats on your trixie, you do a lot of custom batting so it is well deserved. I nominated you for another catergory... best parks since I particularily enjoy you parks. Yes, the airport is in a bit of a hilly area, done a lot of obliteration of mountains and hills in the area to make sure the planes are ok coming and going.

SimsAmerica: I didn't realize the plop and growables of the Peg corner shops were different, thanks for the tip.

DeathtoPumpkins: Thanks! Glad you liked the teaser.

Travis (SCDawg): Thanks! The only part of US-360 I've been on has been southwest of Richmond going toward Amelia, Farmville, etc (Hull St). I don't remember the sprawl too bad past VA-288.

Packersfan: Thanks! Hope things are going ok with rebuilding that lost city tile.

Metarvo: Thanks... There will be TONS of airport signage today. As for the dead malls, I find it interesting how things change having lived in the suburbs of DC most of my life, how sprawl pushes further out of town, urban decay fills in the middle, and so forth. Dead malls are pretty much the personification of this.... first the downtowns died, replaced by malls; then malls die replaced by lifestyle centers further out of town... what's next? who knows. Glad you've enjoyed everything so far and hope you enjoy the future updates.

PhilsCafe: Thanks! Congratulations on your Trixie as well, you do have a great rural CJ. It is well deserved.

    Hawkeye9: Thanks!

Will (Penguin007): Thanks. The airport is in a bit of a hilly area.

Kyle (Ky72x): Thanks! Congratulations to you on your Trixie too. It's been busy for me this year too. I don't update or play nearly as much as I'd like, but then again I prefer to be too busy than have not enough to do.

    And now...

    u47headerfc1.jpg

Today's update will focus on the area around Mountain View Regional Airport, which is the main airport serving Winchester, Salem, and much of western Massopax.

But first, here is approximately where we left off last time on MP-39 heading northbound.

    u47pic1cj9.jpg

MP-39 transitions to four lanes as we get closer to the airport vicinity. Here, there are some hotels and other commercial development where we cross SR-633/Marsden Rd.

    u47pic2bp1.jpg

    u47sign1oi7.jpg

Just past the signal we see this sign as we approach MP-379.

    u47sign2zc9.jpg

Here we are going to turn right to go onto MP-379, which is a short limited-access highway connector from I-79 to Mountain View Regional Airport

    u47pic3mj2.jpg

    u47sign3vo5.jpg

Here is the view now that we're on MP-379 eastbound.

    u47pic4lc7.jpg

Here are some signs as we get closer to the airport in advance of the impending fork in the road.

    u47sign4ou8.jpg

Here is a view of the electronic sign to show if the Short-term lot is full (on and off view).

    u47sign5ud1.jpg

After going up and down a hill, we're going to exit off to go toward the Kiss-and-ride. It's Valentine's Day anyhow lol.

    u47pic5id2.jpg

A sign at the diverging point:

    u47sign6io9.jpg

And this sign we now see:

    u47sign7ir8.jpg

Here is the view as we get closer to the airport which is just around the curve.

    u47pic6or4.jpg

    u47sign8cy6.jpg

Here is the main entrance to the airport.

    u47pic7lz7.jpg

    u47pic8ro2.jpg

Here's a high resolution view, click on the thumbnail to view. Despite the somewhat hilly area, the Bush administration approved the airport grounds. We'll see if the Obama administration reviews this approval.

    u47pic9kz4.th.jpg

Continuing on, we'll make our way back to MP-39.

    u47pic10ga6.jpg

The signage at the above fork in the road.

    u47sign9wt6.jpg

    Continuing on...

    u47pic11ys0.jpg

    u47sign10hs2.jpg

And here we'll exit back onto MP-39 to go northward. Presumably, we could've staying on MP-379 to get to I-79 for a faster way into Winchester.

    u47pic12sz6.jpg

    u47sign11iq6.jpg

And finally, the signal at the end of the ramp.

    u47sign12du0.jpg

    Hope you enjoyed the update!!

Wait, where's the actual Kiss and Ride? Now it's 8:45 and I still have nowhere to kiss my Valentine! haha

Anyways, I like your update. The jumbled road mess approaching the airport is very realistic. I know cause of a recent visit to Tampa International Airport. >_>

Good RHW interchanges and signs as always. Did you make that parking set yourself or download it?

EDIT- 200 posts! Glad I could make it in such a great cj!44.gif

I definitely don't trust that airport...chalk up another failure for Bush.

On a positive note however, the roads look as great as ever, and the airport sign really looks nice! For some reason I really love the bands of colour.
