HSRP - The End for now

The new HSR Project uses starter piece technology to add two new model variations to the game, HSR (elevated High Speed Rail) and GHSR (Ground High Speed Rail), this means that monorail is left alone and can coexist along side HSRP.

Please read this post first before asking questions, but if the answer is not here feel free to ask. 4.gif

Any downloads from the LEX require registration at the LEX (Note LEX registration is different to SC4Devotion.com forum registration)

INSTALLATION

1) Remove (uninstall) the original HSRP
2) Install the Network Addon Modd April 2008 (see links above)
3) Install the new HSRP (see links above)
4) Install the refurbished HSRP hub (see links above)
5) Enter SimCity 4
6) Redraw any monorail or HSRP lines you had before installing this project (use cheats to avoid losing money)
7) Enjoy

FAQ

1) Why is the cursor greyed out or red when I try to plop puzzle pieces?
The reason why this happens is because you have an old Controller in your plugins folder, you need to remove it and install the latest NAM (see links above)

If you have datpacked you NAM files (including plugins) delete it and do a clean install of the NAM and do NOT re-datpack it!!!

2) There are no pylons/supports under my old monorail track, why is this?
You have to redraw all your old monorail tracks, and the pylons will reappear, they is no way around this, but in future versions of the new HSRP you will not have to do this.

The reason they dissapear, is because the new mod removes the pylons from the entire monorail network (that includes HSR and GHSR) and then the pylons are added back in using T21s, which will only appear on the specific networks tiles built after the specific T21s were added to the game, in this case when you installed HSRP.

3) Why are the canteneries (overhead wires) missing from HSR and GHSR?
These were left out to allow a quicker release, but they also happened to be a quick way of telling which HSRP modd is installed, this can be quite helpful when troubleshooting problems, but don't worry they will be added in next time, when there's more time and most people who use HSR should be using the new version

4) My HSRP hub doesn't work, it has lots of jobs but sims don't use it to travel on HSRP, why?
I don't know much about Transit Enabling Stations, but I think this is because the Transit Switch Cost is too high, this will be fixed and an update released.

5) I run MacOS and so I can't use installers, how can I get the HSRP hub?
At the moment you can't, when a fix is released (see number 4) there will be a MacOS zip.

6) One or two of my lots that are unrelated to HSRP or NAM change to HSRP textures in certain zooms, why and can this be changed?
Yes it can be changed, a fix has been made for it and is waiting to be intergrated in the installer, but due to RL issues this hasn't been done yet.

It's really great you got this project back up, it would really stink if your hard work disapeared into the depths of cyberspace; kudos to prince of sims! As many have said before, it would be nice to see corrugated tin fences, and maybe some gantries if it's possible. I'll see if I can cook up some models for you. 2.gif

    Because GHSR won't have a cross intersection I hope to make the monorail and HSR over GHSR draggable, but if it can't be made draggable it will be made using a puzzle piece. The current HSR speed is 6000 KpH, and the monorail speed is 200 kph, to me the HSR speed is unrealistic, I have never heard of a train going that fast, Unfortunately there has to be a speed which is suitable for HSR and monorail, so if people could come up with some numbers, that would be good. EDIT: I have no idea what happened to the text on my 1st post.

    Thanks for all the comments, I thought i had posted after SWAT-MEDIC but it must have been when the Server upgrades was.

    Yoshiisland: It would fantastic if you could come up with something as I'm not very good at BATing.

    And to anyone else how could make models that would improve on the current ones please do not hesitate.

    The Paths just don't I have done everything correctly as far as I can see but still no paths. Maybe someone from the NAM can help me?

    The shadows are important because it visually looks awful in software mode and quite bad in hardware mode. I have added Textures that are blank (the whole alpha is black) with a different GID and the same IID as the straight model but nothing changes.

    UPDATE: Copied from SC4D:

    The T21s are now being done by MIncroabl after he has done his modd, lots(T21s) under elevated rail, here*** The are two main advantages to this, I'm useless at T21s and MIncroabl isn't and the GHSR will also be compatible with his modd, and vice versa.

    So the next on the list is paths which I still haven't mananged to do and do need some help as I don't understand why they don't work. But I don't think it's the actual paths, maybe if they time, JPlumbley or Tarkus could help?

    OK I have done the monorail over GHSR, it is draggable, unlike GLR, as there are no GHSR crossing over GHSR intersections.

    As always ingnore the pillars they are being sorted out.

    I voted "other". Here is why. Why can't you do both? You could make the underpasses draggable, and do puzzle pieces for the overpasses.

    Just to let everyone know, now: I can't do the underpasses unless someone BATs them for me. I can do the overpasses as there are allready in game.

    Shasta: Good Idea, although if that does happen it propably won't happen in the first release.

    Someone already has. Marrast did both road and avenue underpasses a while back. They released an updated version (UDI and civic compatible) on SC4Devotion's LEX some time ago. Those underpasses would work nicely.

    Shasta: Firstly Marrast's lots are lots, they need to be split up into tiles to be made into puzzle pieces(There is probably some way to do this in BAT but I don't know how.), Also I have heard the LODs are a bit weird, and I would need permission from him and don't know if he is still active, if yes where he is active.

    @warrior: About the GHSR, how wide will the tracks be in terms of tiles? I know I need a 1 tile, 2-track gantry, but how many size variations will there be? I need to know this before I make the models. Also, do you have any measurements for curvature and diagnols? Sorry, does this sound to confusing?

    SimRabbit: Is the file made in gmax or 3ds MAX?

    The model needs to be split into 16x16m tiles (SC4 game tiles)

    Also could you make a ramp but as a seperate model without a texture, also split up into 16x16m tiles.

    Please ask if you dont understand or something isn't pssible.

    Yoshiisland: There is only 1 GHSR track so far  the 1 tile one, the diagonals and curves are exactly the same as the current HSR modd except lowered 15m, but that may change slightly.

    The gantires need to be seperate models so to make them into individual props for T21 exemplars.

    I hope I have made myself clear please PM me or post if you don't understand.

    And I would like to know who voted the 2nd "other" and why.

    Any way the el-rail over GHSR model is finished.

    if there are ANY ramps in this thing from HSR to GHSR, they will need to be EXTREMELY shallow. or the only adapters would be GHSR onslope pieces that go into HSR

    No, this doesn't replace anything. It's an addon puzzle-piece/draggable network for the monoral much like the GLR is for EL-Rail.

    I will only be able to modd a transition if someone BATs it, like most other models that aren't track, or intersections.

    EDIT: Unless I use the current Ground Rail to NAM El-Heavy-Rail. The transition can't be too realitsic because then the transiton will take about 10 tiles which is impratical in game.

    I will be able to make an onslope piece, as far as I know, but I haven't tried it yet.

    I am quite useless at BAT which is why I can't make new models

    I can make intersections with other networks because I merge just the 2 models together using custom groups in the reader. 

    I can make the track because it only requires slight editing of the current HSR modd models.

    Sorry that's quite a lot of sentences beggining with "I"


    The underpasses will probably draggable, hopefully using SimRabbit's model, and the overpasses using the current NAM puzzle pieces, as suggested by bwatterud (?)

    Please post if you disagree, I want this modd to be something that as many people as possible will like, as it can be frustating if there is something you don't like.

    Sorry about the double post.

    The Maxis-El-Rail over GHSR will be a puzzle piece until I get round to re doings of the RULs for El-Rail over Monorail. This will be the same for El-Highway over GHSR, I'm not sure about HSR over GHSR, but I will find out at some point. I haven't amde a puzzle piece of this type yet so I'm excepting trouble and for it to take a long time.(hopefully not to long)

    The Paths have still not been fixed yet but Tarkus is looking at them, which means they should be working soonish, as Tarkus, generally everyone knows, is a wonderful modder.

    The way to do HSR over GHSR will be a tricky set of RULs.  I have to do something similar for SAM with the inter-SAM intersections sometime in the future.  My RULs will be easily transposed for the GHSR, or should be anyways.
