Oh my...I guess my plugin folder size is just PUNY compared to all you people! As for me, fireing up the game takes less than a minute (let's say 45 seconds) and loading a city takes about 2 to 5 minutes(depending on size, costumization, and other stuff)

    Computer specs:

    Desktop eMachines

    AMD Athlon 6400

    ATI Radeon Xpress200

    160 gigs of disk space

    384 mb of RAM

and a whole bunch of other stuff 3.gif

I am kinda surprised at the loading times you guys have on SC4...

    (and your computer specs, too)

read my signature, the lower right... nothing more to say.

I've never counted the plugins or folders or files, it's just too much.

i just started modding and adding things from STEX, even though i've had simcity 4 for like 2 years. it's pretty sad now that i think about. i keep thinking how great to have had this before. anyways, my plug-ins folder is about 25.1 mb. i always see some posting about something going wrong or not downloading too many things. so i've been pretty weeny about dLing more. hehe,

About 10 minutes to start the region, then about 5 minutes to load a blank tile. 6 for terraforming, 8 for a full city. 2 minutes to open the landmark folder. So yeah, an hour to start a new small city 3.gif. Torture.

Actually, I just increased the size of mine...I now have...

    5.39 Gigabytes, 16,753 files, 4,008 folders.

Up a gig from yesterday...I really loathe CAM. 3.gif Where's DATpacker when you need it?

I don't know how to count them, but to put it in perspective, my computer is the most powerful and has the most memory of any of the other's in my house, we have installed extra memory thingies, and it still takes (and this was actually tested by me) a full 30 minutes to start my game, and nearly 20 to load most large cities. The parks menue takes about 3+ minutes to open.

EDIT: Edited to fix spelling. Sorry, I don't have my contacts in...

When I booted up my computer today, my plugin folder was ~ 30MB [NAM and various other mods, no buildings]. As of now, I have 860MB, due to downloading CAM and ALL of the necessary files. I still have to install the Commercial Office lots, and quite a lot more dependencies... for all the files that are currently available for CAM.

I haven't done a cold boot of sc4 since I woke up. Right now it takes ~ 10-15 seconds to go from opening sc4 via Startup Manager [no intros], to SimCity 4 logo screen, and about 5-10 more seconds to go to region view.  Load up times, saves and return to region view vary by city, from 10 seconds to maybe 30 seconds.

    My current stats are:

    AMD64 X2 4200+ 2.4GHz

    2GB DDR2 533Mhz

    Western Digital SATA 160GB

    Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS

[continues on the quest for CAMeLOTs]

I have 589 mb of plugins. A nice amount. I've got a fairly recent computer with a recent RAM and video card upgrade and it takes 10-15 minutes to get into a full populated large tile city from desktop to city.

Neat numbers.  So the quad processor is at least twice as fast, eh?  Do you think this has conquered the overhead of Vista?

Actually the numbers are a bit deceving.  I messed up the clock on the first start with the quad, and that is the second start.

The additional starts with the C2duo is as low as 8 seconds.  I didn't time any additional starts with the quad.

A 60 MB city loads with both machines in about 30 seconds.

I have a whopping 38.5 MB consisting of 266 files, although to be honest I didn't think I had quite that much. I'm learning Japanese, so eventually this number will swell as I raid the Japanese sites for Asian style content!

Well WAWAY, it is a complete city, not just a city with residentials.  I have a region with 8 cities that range between 54, and 59 MB.  They are cities of close to 500,000 pop, and are gridded 6x6 with avenues with turning lanes.  They are complete cities also.

i guess, (sometimes) it really depends on how long the member has been on this site...usually the old-comers have lots of plugins and the new-comers have less...

what do you mean by a "complete city" TUNGSTON?

when i said i had a 15mb city, that was a city with 1 million people, lots of commercial buildings (and plopped ones too), a custom airport, parks and transportation systems..isnt that a "complete" city?

My largest city is a little over half your 60MB one and takes like 5-10 minutes to load and when I finally get in it lags like heck for another 5 minutes.

I was finally able to decrease load time.  Turns out all those EXE installers and .zip folders double or even triple your plugin folder's size...41.gif

Wow I thought mine was big lol but I guess not! (10GB of plug-ins would take up 25% of my tiny hard drive...)

    Heres what mine looks like:

    818mb

    3052 files

    501 folders

Takes about 7 minutes for the game to load, another 5-6 minutes for a city to load

    Plugins Folder:

    867Mb
    2975 files
    495 folders
~11 minutes loading time (lg. city, fr. desktop to city)
    1 very frustrated John94538

I ran DatPacker once, but it messed up the game because I deleted everything except Plugins_compressed. LOL brown boxes appeared on like 90% of downloaded buildings!42.gif I'm never trying that again...

Note: ^ I mean deleting everything in Plugins, not DatPacker. ^
