Perfect materials.. What are the settings you use to get that awesome water material or is it a secret lol?

It's similar to a mr glass material except the color that it reflects is a very very ligh blue and the max dpth is 600' (with a color of dark blue to black) and ior is set to 1.33.  A lot of the "shape" of the water comes from a fluid simulation from a different software.  Unfortunatly I'm no expert at operating it so I didn't quite get thh results intended (hence the three "water people" at the end of the pool, and the large wave right at the waterfall).  Some of the sparkle you see in the water is just noise actually!  If I set the settings much higher it will dissapear.  And it is a jpg.

Beautiful Render the water does look incredably (SP?) real, the whol thing looks ready to go into an office or mall somwhere, love the use of color, not my personal choice, but it is your render. stunning absolutly stunning. by the way, I think the wave is a good thing.

Very nice render mate.

As for the lighting, how did you set up your daylight?  It looks more like an overcast day than sunlight.

For the gamma, Simfox's gamma correction is, in my opinion, a load of crap.  Last night I finally got mr worked out down to the basics and saved a sunlight render preset.  As it turns out, gamma correction had absolutely nothing to do with my washed out texture problem and all it did was screw up all my renders and make them too dark when I saved them.

If I were you, I'd ditch the gamma correction.  I can also give you my mental ray render  preset if you want, see if that works.  For me now I can render well with mental ray without screwing up my gamma.

I used a standard skylight for this one, nothing fancy with the lighting.

The problem is with log renders, is it tends to make some parts too bright or to dark.  Gamma correction in the scene tends to counteract this problem... or at least for me it seems to help: here's what I mean:

No gamma correction.                                            Gamma correction.

The latter one will fit into the game more readily and is a bit less "Extreme" with the coloration... that is it's not too dark, which tends to be the problem.

nice work scipio, I like your buildings. Nice detail

BTW, the things autovino does (like the stairs) arent that hard at all, if you know how to do it 3.gif I see mostly standard arch and design materials: Copper railing, Glass. I guess He adjusted them a bit but still. I like how he did the water under the stairs. I probably wouldn't know how to do that 2.gif

Then he was like, "Why Jan?"

New project: it will be an apartment complex, name pending. I've finished the basic modelling, now I gotta finish up the model and then I'll begin texturing. I prefer comments to be placed in my thread, links in the signature.

Okay, here are my best results without actually modeling everything. I'm not totally happy with it, it doesn't look as thin and ornate as it should, but what do you guys think?
