    Schulmanicus: Prehistoric Prying

Someone was watching. The Schulminions showed great promise: intellectual, peaceful, and they could carry quite a tune. All they needed was a spark. Something to jump start the process and help these Sims make a quantum leap in their development. The little tribe was oblivious to the observers. Advanced technology had allowed the observers to note the tribe's progress and see its enormous potential. There was quite the discussion at the observers' headquarters about what to do. There is the doctrine of non-interference which stipulates that societies should develop on their own, unimpeded by outside forces. The faction supporting non-interference had the upper hand.... Until word came back that the Schulminions had made an enormous leap in their intellectual capacity. The loosely associated group had been a fairly egalitarian one, a concept which is rare for most societies at any stage of development. But, now, for the first time, the Sims had banded together to choose a leader. The reasonable group decided to go for the most capable leader. They chose the wisest and strongest leader they had - one who had the greatest potential to help the Schulminions tame their island home and begin their path to glory. In their infinite wisdom, they chose the mighty Wirdle as their leader. The Supreme Wirdle was the right choice at the right time. That selection showed a genius which convinced the observers that this tribe was the wisest of all and deserving of a special catalyst to their progress. For, you see, the Supreme Wirdle was not a Sim at all. She was a cat. These Sims had earlier domesticated cats (or, vice versa) to harness their wisdom and skills. A cat is a natural leader. Anyone who has ever had one around knows that cats are skilled managers, getting their directives followed with purrs and rarely resorting to claws. She and her line would be the natural leaders for the tribe and carry the banner of Schulminions across the known world (which, at that time, was still just the island of Schulmanicus).

    wirdlesupremecz5.jpg

The newly chosen Supreme Wirdle plans great things for her nascent empire.

This brilliant decision turned the tide in favor of the Schulminions and the decision was made to initiate the anachronismator, a device which allows for technology to leapfrog several steps of development over time.

    schulmanicusherecomestheufo2si7.jpg

    Deploying the anachronismator

    monolith2001aji6.jpg

The anachronismator glides gently down from orbit

    2001monolitheclipsebf4.jpg

The device lands just outside the small village in the late afternoon.

The Sims were busy petting their new leader and providing laps for her entourage, so no one noticed the black monolith descending from the sky. But, one curious little monkey did...

    curiousgeorgezt8.jpg

This little monkey activated the anachronismator. And, in a brilliant flash of light, the world changed. The Supreme Wirdle suddenly had a vision showing her tiny settlement, perched along a small hill near the shore, morphing into a vast collection of buildings, connected together by streets. She just saw the future. She saw a city. A Sim City.

connor_v       Thanks! We'll see a lot of stuff going on here soon as the Schulminons get up and going.

blade2k5       Thanks for your comment. I had to find a way to work in my son's favorite monkey. He may make a cameo appearance from time to time as well!

jacqulina         Thanks! More is coming - check back often! :-)

    Schulmanicus: Old, Old School Sprawl

As is typical with civilizations, once the Schulminions had the tools to master their environment, they set out to do so. Under their inspired feline leadership, settlements began on several parts of the island. Four small villages began near strategic resources: Buss, Wanda, Wirt, and Stell.

    island4settlementslz5.jpg

The four settlements on the island. The top one is Stell, the middle is Wirt. The bottom left is Wanda and the bottom right is Buss.

Buss and Wanda were on opposite ends of a large cultivated area. The primary crop form this area was tomatoes. These were used to satisfy the hungry tribe of Schulminions in multiple tasty dishes. Archaeologists were able to use chemical residue analysis to determine the diet in this era included such dishes as salsa, pasta marinara, pizza, and beefaroni. On the other side of the island, apples provided nutrition with deliciousness.

    newfieldsax9.jpg

These tomato fields fed the Sims in style

Note: Country lane lot used to join the settlements together

Let's tour the four settlements and examine the importance of each.

    busssettlementwildlifevisitmb3.jpg

In Buss, elk roam the dirt streets while the Schulminons tend the tomatoes.

    stellsettlementhu0.jpg

Stell features an apple tree farm. Sims feasted on apples, apple pie, apple juice, apple sauce and apple streudel. Occasionally, they would bob for apples, creating the first spectator sport in the history of the Schulminions.

    wandasettlementlj5.jpg

Wanda's perch on the shore allowed for Sims to farm the tomatoes as well as wade out with nets to catch fish. Archaeologists are not entirely sure how many kinds of fish were present at that time, but they have found evidence for at least two kinds: sticks and fillets.

    ]wirttreefarmlc7.jpg

Wirt hosted the tree farm, capitalizing on the extensive hardwoods growing on the island by cultivating several types for use as fuel, building materials, and for whittling. Legend has it a bored Sim can whittle a forty foot oak down to a bowling pin in just one lazy afternoon.

Sims began to spread across the island. Soon, they would farm the entire island and develop settlements much grander than they could imagine. Communication was easy across the island, thanks to the network of roads between the villages.

    intersectionku7.jpg

In a precursor to congested roads and massive interchanges, this is the first intersection ever created. Traffic count at this time: 1 cow. On a busy day, up to 25% of the estimated 400 Schulminions would travel through this intersection.

Luckily, these forward-thinking Sims were able to develop the island free of worry. Each settlement continued to grow and the number of fields expanded as the population quickly surpassed 1,000. These Sims continued to develop their culture and technology, living in open villages. One day, this serenity was shattered. A tribal elder had a terrifying vision - one that sent the Sims scurrying for protection. He saw...

    TEASER!

    tomatokillerat0.jpg

This is the biggest threat the Schulminions have ever faced! What will they do? Who can save them from falling into a vegetative state? Is this plucky group of Sims stewed? Or are these tomatoes not as rotten as they seem?

    Tune in next time....

KRAM4346       Thanks for your comment. Please check in periodically to see how the Schulminions are faring!

GMT         Thanks for reading. Glad you like it thus far!

Jacqulina         Thanks for stopping by again. The Supreme Wirdle and I enjoyed visiting your CJ's update. She sent you a purr - she likes your CJ too! ?

Moganite          Thanks for dropping by to read my CJ. It was not a typing monkey that started this chain of events. Just a little monkey who was a bit too curious and changed the course of history forever. Now, to find that Sim With The Yellow Hat!

Cancerspam88       Thanks for reading. Glad you liked it! I want my CJ to be serious in a way but not taking itself too seriously. There's no reason not to have fun with anything you do!

ledge69             Thanks! Glad you like it. This CJ is like its namesake- a little eccentric!

hamsterTK             Thanks for dropping by. Let's hope this happy go lucky group of Sims can slice their way through this tomato problem!

connor_v          Thanks for coming back. Once the tomatoes are faced down, there's no telling who could come next: combative carrots, radical radishes, grotesque grapes....

UnkleS27        This could be scary! Problems with tomatoes must have been simmering a while to turn them red with anger. Let's hope all will work out - without blood (or juice) shed!

raul39          Thanks for reading! Rumor has it that the Treaty of Marinara may solve the problem. We'll have to see. Of course, if the green tomatoes get fried, it's go time!

apiz2k          Thanks for reading the CJ! In the future, Schulmanian movie producers will look back at this and create many a feature film: Vengeful Vegetables, Return of the Vengeful Vegetable, Attack of the 50 Foot Carrot, Death By Daikon, Dial J for Julienne, Night of the Living Sprouts, and the all-time classic - Garden of Evil. Be sure to stop by your local SimMovie Rental Emporium to have a great movie marathon this weekend!

PhilsCafe       Thanks for coming back. The cat is the editor and she insists that her natural talents be highlit as often as possible. When she is not mentioned, I have to bust out the tuna to avoid the wrath!

Jacqulina          Thanks for coming by again! Glad you like the pics. More nature pics will be coming soon - hopefully with peaceful scenes of coexistence between Sims and their gardens!

Nice CJ you have here! I like your beginning and I like how you clearly use what is here in Simtrop. Nice use of the villages and the tomato farms with the dirt road. I like how things are going and waaaaah, Killer Tomatoes! Oh no! Can't wait for the next update! =)

    Take Care,

    Charles

    |Heheh, you've done a great job with introducing some unique aspects of humour, and so on and so forth. Like the farms - did you know these very same buildings can be put onto single lots for modular goodness?

Woah lovely farmlands perched on rolling green hills. 5.gif It really takes a lot of courage to built farms on uneven terrain. Sometimes when I do so the individual pieces of lots of the farm just jutted out of the place.

And from your CJ is realised how beautiful can the default terrain and water colour of SC4 is. I use mods to change them btw. Keep up the good work! 44.gif

Charles Rodulfo      Thanks for your kind comments. I think STEX has a lot of great stuff - and I like a good bit of the Maxis stuff as well. Together, it's a winning combination. Hopefully, a combination strong enough to fend off angry veggies!

Shadow_Assassin      Thanks for dropping by. Which ones were you thinking of which could be done in single lots? I am always up for some good tips.

Jacqulina        Thanks again for dropping by. I am making sure as I go forward to include some nice nature pix for you. ?

KRAM4346     Glad you dropped by. Let's hope the vegetables don't get too steamed and all will work out!

Meastro444         Thanks for checking out Schulmania. Glad you liked it and will come back to see how this plucky little group fares. Hopefully, peace can be established before there is juiceshed!

Nik-nik        Thanks for your kind comments. I like to plant some humor where I can. When it sprouts, it's a good thing. Hopefully, the angry tomatoes will think so too!

Terrymunweihao          Thanks for coming back. I do like the default terrain and water, but sometimes I do want to change it. You are right, farms can be tricky on rolling terrain. I try to engineer it so that the farm rolls gently over the hills - not too steep - and that the rolling part is fields, which tend to conform better to the landscape.
