I think this has turned out really great Nofunk and it looks quite nice in game. I think making the bricks larger was the right way to go. If it were me I would still enlarge them just a little bit more. Maybe cut out 3 or 4 from the total uvw. The lot is a little bare where the truck trailers are. Maybe add some cars parked along the left side? Maybe some wood pallets somewhere? Some trash?

Yes, RJ boxes is just really a term among some of the NDEX BATers. 3.gif Anyway, the building looks really good ingame. I would love to use this in my cities. The window textures are just amazingly detailed.

Everything's looking great!

The only thing I'd have to add, now looking at it, is having one of the loading doors open (would require re-exporting though), and making the grass texture in the LE a different one (less $$$).

Looks great Nofunk! if you haven't yet uploaded to the STEX, I would add more of that small fence...it looks kinda awkward.

    Thanks everyone!

spa: I actually did put some parked cars on either side, they just decided not to appear for the screen shots. (I should have been more patient.) Maybe I'll add some pallets or barrels as well.

Jasoncw: Added some bare patches to the grass to dirty it up a little.

XSpiderman: I agree. More fence or remove it altogether?

OK, so just a little more tweaking for the lot, and a readme file, and it'll be ready to go! I'm offering it as a landmark, manufacturing growable and ploppable (even though I know ploppable industry doesn't generate freight traffic). The lots will all be 5x4.

I also considered an R$$, since in real-life many of these buildings are being converted into lofts, but I realized it would really require me to remodel the loading bays... and I'm lazy. But if you guys would appreciate an R$$ as is, I wouldn't mind making one.

If you're really asking, then I suggest Ford Field. Is that too big a project? Just trying to help . . . TopCliff

topcliff: wolverine has already started Ford Field, actually.

sEAhAwk fAn121: Just out of curiosity, what would your suggestion be?

What I plan to do is finish up some of the many projects I have sitting in the wings right now. But you never know what might inspire me!

I didn't know Ford Field was already being worked on. Seahawk, I think he does Michigan stuff, not Kansas City, KA/MO. I admit though, that that is one cool building. Maybe you could do some monorail stations from downtown Detroit for the game. They are really needed, as there is a lack of them on the STEX. TopCliff

Yeah FF was kind of far along.  I've considered restarting.  Here's a few images of it.  Died, Revived, hopefully will survive.204968481_c6b956d0fc_o.jpg

As you can see, they never really got that far, although some further than others

The Guardian! Or One Woodward! Or 150 West Jefferson! or the Ren Cen! I don't know what you should do next, but whatever you do I'll be looking forward to it.

Topcliff: Detroit doesn't really have any real monorail stations, but they are definitely needed.

I'm doing One Woodward Avenue (it's quite a ways done).  Skyfire is doing the Ren Cen.  150 West Jefferson would require a lot of thinking, because of the way that it was built around another building, and how the people mover runs along it.

Detroit has people mover stations, but most of the stations are built into buildings, and many of them would be very hard to lot because of how they run across the roads and things.  And on the outside, they're not very special.  The insides have art work and stuff, but the outsides aren't special.

The statler? It looks like it will be rather simple, besides the base and top. Oh, and I'm loving Gratiot Motors!

I remember Allan was doing the Statler but that all kind of fell apart. Actually, I have quite a few good reference photos. It is a building that needs to be done though.. definitely.

Seahawk fan, do you mind pm-ing me some more links to closeup images of that building you posted?

Wolv, why am I not surprised you're jumping on that Western Auto building? 2.gif

I could probably start work on the Statler... I'll definitely need some reference photos though.

I'm looking at the possibility of doing Western Auto. It's got that difficult curve though. But I was able to find some images that shows heights and dimensions.

If you ARE indeed taking suggestions, then I would suggest the Fisher Building. I have some floorplans if you're interested - I always like to BAT from floorplans or elevations if they are available.

Floorplans aren't too hard to find... First, you need to find out whether there is vacant space in the tower. (For Detroit, this is probably not a problem) Then, you need to determine the real estate agent who is marketing the empty space. 2 out of 3 real estate firms will place the floorplans on their website.

Note that these are not the architects' original plans, but drawings created by present-day architects/draftsmen who are commissioned by the realtors.

Just for example, here's one I dug up for the Guardian Building. Unfortunately, the "enlarge" link is dead, or I could have gotten you a high-resolution PDF. floorplan206rh3.jpg

Cool, next time I start a building I'll have to use one.

I sort of did this with the Penobscot Building, but the plan was really small and old, so it wasn't mega useful.  Plus, the building is not square in real life like I'm making it for SC4.
