i too was under the impression that we were going to be getting huge rail yards, im pretty sure i read that over on the offcial site. what they may have meant was that grand rail station, which happens to be nothing like what i was expecting. about the u drive it missions for trains, you need to have more than one passenger and frieght stations for them to become available simply because the missions require you to get to multiple stations.

    It'll be really good to have several different rr lines in a city...like in, i dunno, Kansas where several railroads have yards...Speaking of which, didn't I read someone on a forum that RH would have freight yards for rail?? Also on a similar note, its a bit annoying how in RH all the LE stations created prior to RH won't work  They have no efficiency and no capacity or anything.

    I remember the comment somewhere that Maxis was hoping to include railyards and (I think) other rail facilities in RH.  But, I also remember reading just before RH that they were not able to get it all working right in time for the release.  Maybe they'll put it out for free on the website or include it in a second expansion.

    BTW, I've still got plans to release a pack of diesels from the major western American railroads.  There have been a couple of roadbumps and delays on the way, though.  I'm now having trouble inserting new FSH files into the DAT files in ilive's Reader.  It wasn't an issue until recently, so I don't know what's going on. (I've sent a report to ilive.)

    could you do articulated buses? you know with the join in the middle?

    Having it bend in the middle would be hard to do. It might be do able if some one can duplicate how the semis and trailers work. If that can be done it also might be possible to link a tender to a steam engine. I haven't worked with the steam engine any because it just bothers me not having a tender.

    ok trolca, after a bit of searching i have found where the rail yard information was posted. although the information is not specific in any way it would still lead one to believe that there would be large rail yards in the game. "Rush Hour will also add 50 new structures, also focused on transportation, such as seaports, rail yards, helipads, historic train stations, and more." thats from gamestop.com, heres the link--gamestop.com. The info is in the third paragraph down, first sentence.
    Maybe this will shead some light on the situation, i for one would have loved to see this included in the game. The rail system as it is in the game is horribly unrealistic. Just my two cents.

    It looks as if we were misinformed on a number of points. I do not recall having a helipad. As for historic train stations, they would of been right if they removed the s. I hope they stick to their word with expansion patches.

    A request and a suggestion.  The request: could you up the font size a notch?  It's a bit hard to read...And for the suggestion, if you can't get the iLive Reader to work, use DarkMatter's DATGen4 tool, it's real nice.  I believe he has worked out the issues with FSH files and such, so it should work fine.

    all of the things mentioned are in the game
    "seaports (already in game), rail yards (already in game, cargo station), helipads (on top of hospitals and deluxe police stations), historic train stations (Grand Central Station type rails station),

    sorry they're all there, even if you may have misinterpreted it

    Two things: one, Trolca, can you use the LE?  If so, can YOU make us some rail yards?  Two, we were talking about real rail yards, with sidings and discarded cargo and all.  However, it's true that everything Maxis promised us is there.

    Over-lays with track would be needed plus new props of rail cars mostly. Has anyone made custom props yet?

    It's possible, one thing would be needed is to make some lots that could be placed on top of main rail lines for as a connection between it and the yard or siding.
     
    For now, here is two hopper (coal/ore car) set. This set is two cars that replace the originals. The second in the following post is five cars that do not replace any of my current work.

    I read you have problem inserting FSH using the Reader.  If you have sent me some information about this problem, I didn't receive anything  8.gif (my mail doesn't seem to really work). Could you describe the problem ? or use the PM if you prefer.

    I have a few ideas for yards but rail car props need to be made first.

    Love the CP Trolca, and I don't even live in Canada.

    Anyways, I'd also like to see some Burlington Northern. They're the primary carrier up here in Washington state and I'm sure the West US.

    In the SimCity 4\Plugins, not the folder in My Documents. What I did is make a folder inside the Plugins folder named Trains.

    BN and BNSF are on my list as well.  I've already made the BNSF texture.  But, as ilive mentioned, I'm having problems with FSH files at the moment.  I did send an error report to you, ilive.  I guess it was lost somewhere along the line, as you suggest.  I'll PM you with the details.

    anyways, could u fix the latest copies of the trains into later posts? It's hard trying to find the latest non-RH train sets through the seven pages and hundreds and photos.

    The TrokaTrainsRH pack in the Mods section only contains the Bay Line Train Set that is for some reason double zipped. Does any of your Pre-RH train mods still work with RH? If so, would you please list the mods that still work and/or include them in one large updated RH Train Pack?

    I'm not sure why its double zipped. I sent in for it to be updated. After that it should have the Bay Line and CP Rail sets. Those are the only sets made for Rush Hour. Most Pre Rush Hour cars should work. The older engines wont behave correctly but will still work somewhat. I plan on converting most of my pre Rush Hour to work with Rush Hour.

    Here is something different. Its the first of an Odd set I'll make some day. The ID is 10A1F0.

    Trolca's train set usually has more then one set. So as the set expands, like the CP Rail addition, it gets added into the Zipped Troca's Train Set RH.
     
    Rather then re-setting the counter for the downloads, we are adding any new sets to the Train Set modd.
     
    The Trolca's Train set now includes the new CP Rail...
     
    Good work Trolca!! (It is a beautiful set)

    trolca, would it be possible for you to make a train that was all the same car? say the intermodal cars that show up in SC4 sometimes, so that the train would look like this one? I think that would look cool traveling through my cities.

    I think what you mean is unit trains? What I call trains that all the cars are the same type, like all ore cars. To do that, another transportation set would need to be made mirrored from the freight train set. It

    I would love to see trains of all the same cars as well. When I first read the above post I thought you were unsure of what an intermodal train was, so I found a pic. But then when I reread it, thats not what you were querying, but I'm going to post it anyways because lo and behold, theres a BN engine at the front 3.gif If you do make this set, heres a different livery for you, on one of those locos (not sure what they are called) you did for the Conrail set....

    And a little something else I wouldn't mind seeing....a slug 11.gif We don't have them in the UK, but (I may be wrong) theyre used in and around freight yards, I presume to give extra brake pressure (like I said, I'm unsure on this), as I don't see there being space in there for an engine. So if this goes onto the list, it would need to be treated as a freight car (one that come directly after the engine come to think of it)... I don't know if its possible or not...
