I haven't seen this mentioned, sorry if I missed it.

The terraformer worked fine last night, and I saved the region I was working on. Today it won't load the same region and says "maybe it is too large for your RAM".

If I try and open it in the game, it's all screwed up, only parts of it there.

If by DX you mean Direct, the answer is no.. all its graphics are processed in the DirectX environment. It does not have to be version 10 though unless Vista forces the use of that (which it may well.. as I recall you can only use it if your video card supports DirectX10..but this has nothing to do with SC4T)

I have Vista and thus far everything has worked fine, but SC4 won't launch.  I read the readme (what I could understand of it--I'm not very computer literate) and since I've had no problems with the Terraformer I think everything is allright at that end.  Can anyone help me?

Since I have a similar "problem", I'll stick my question in here: Duplicated a region, terraformed it, although not too much, saved it with SC4TF, then went to open it in SC4-RH: the image below is what I got. Odd, n'est pas?

That's odd.. I have XP SP2 and it just recently started doing a SIMILAR (at least in the sense that it is "patchy" and affects only the regional view)  .. Here's a pic:

transportmapiq7.jpg

I wonder if there is some odd conflict emerging in some new lot or something? It only affects the "transport view".. all others are "normal"

BTW this started suddenly on an old load. I had just added a beta NAM traffic mod and I put a couple of new lots in.

When I get a chance, I'm going to try to unravel if whether the changes caused the problem, but I've not taken the time yet. to remove the recent changes. Of course since its a not very critical and I'm busy with other things, I've ignored it for now.. hehe

I loaded other older regions and they are ok, and I THINK that when I open a new city tile it "flips" to the "glaring zone" view only if I make a save.

Dunno if this effect has been seen on other people's stuff or if this is fairly new.

PS: I'm not trying to "hijack" this thread. If this is not seen by others generally, I'll be happy (or a moderator is welcome) to move it.

EDIT: I eventually found the answer.. it is the "UI Transparency" setting.. it must be ON

I have been trying to get sc4mapper to work with vista premium, been reading through the forum and have not been able to get it up and running.  Anyone have any ideas?  I dl'd the dll's, tried changing the .exe file to operate as xp, none of this works.  Any help would be appreciated.

No, it simply doesn't work with Vista.

How are you supposed to download this program?

I've checked the readme, but I couldn't find the info.

SC4TF support is pretty much abandoned here.. go to SC4Devotion site and you will find a forum on "tools" down the forum list.. the SC4TF threads are there.. good luck.

wrt SC4 running on Vista, many people have it running fine (but I don't know about if you have the 64bit version). You might search the ST forum for "VISTA".. there have been many posts on the issue.

In regards to SC4 on Vista, I tried every single solution that I could find on SC4Devotion to no avail.  I tried downloading the .dil.  I tried running it in XP compatibility mode.  I tried this, that and the other.  After two hours, I gave up - the only conclusion I can draw is that it doesn't really work with Vista.

I'm sure it's a fine program and I salute the folks who put the effort into it.  I can just wish it worked with a newer OS than XP.  I understand why someone wouldn't try to redo it - after all, SC4 is now getting on 5 years old.  I just wish the guys at SC4Devotion would post their regions using the old-fashioned .bmp files so some of us newer users could actually use those regions.

is there a way to resize SC4M maps? I export an image of the region and I can load it in mapper fine, but if I resize it, it will come all water in sc4 mapper.

I just downloaded the TerraFormer and it unzipped into a folder named distv10C.

I have a bunch of icons in the folder but there isn't really anything that allows me to "start" the program. I'm so freaking confused, shouldn't there be an easier way to import other regions........I find it ridiculous that Maxis only puts 5-6 regions in the game and you're forced to run with it. I need help my friends........

To all of the valued readers of this thread, I can no longer respond to repeated questions concerning issues with DirectX.  It is EXTERMELY IMPORTANT that you completely read through the ReadMe file included with the SC4Terraformer application.  The ReadMe file has detailed instructions as to what DirectX version is required as well as links on where to find it.

It is very possible that by using the below self-help methods, you may be able to get an answer to your question.  Please ensure you have used the below methods for getting self-help:

1)  Ensure you havedownloaded and installed the latest version of SC4Terraformer.  As of this post, the latest version is 1.1.

2)  Ensure you have the correct version of DirectX.

3)  Ensure you have COMPLETELY read through the ReadMe file that is part of the SC4Terraformer download package.

4)  Search through the posts in this thread for answers to your questions.  There is a wealth of valuable information contained within this support thread and many answers to your questions can be gotten by search through the posts in the thread.

When, and only when, you have completely exhausted all avenues of self-help concerning a problem you are experiencing, post a detailed explanation of the problem.  I, or someone I designate, will attempt to research your reported problem and reply back to you when time permits.

I want it to be very clear that support for the SC4Terraformer application is NOT being abandoned.  Valid problems will continue to be researched and, if possible, solutions will be provided.

In closing, I wish to reiterate the importance of reading the ReadMe file.  It contains valuable information that, in many cases, will answer your questions concerning SC4Terraformer, DirectX and using the application.

Take care!quote>

Hello wouanagaine,

I tried to download the latest version (1.1?) - got a link to the Simtropolis Modds/Downloads section - which gave me a zip of distv10C.

Is distv10C the same as version 1.1 - or just where else might one look for the latest version?

-NetPCDoc

No detail is too small to be micromanaged.

You can find a download link for SC4Terraformer, version 1.1 on Page 28 of the SC4Terraformer, a tool for regional handterraforming thread, the 8th message on the page.

Once you've downloaded the application and have it installed, you might want to check out the OmniMaps -- Mapping and terraforming Information section of the Omnibus for information concerning usin the application.  Finally, you might also want to reference the Terraforming Your World CJ for some practical information on terraforming with the application.

Regards,

Vandy

When I try to install the Terraformer, it says that "The folder seems not to be a valid region". What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

I Downloaded SC4 Terraformer and i cant get it to work. I have searched the forums so much i think my eyes are going to bleed but i still cant figure out why it wont work. I have all the .dll's that are needed in the system32 folder at least I think I do. I have updated my directX. I have read the "read me" file over and over again. In the SC4Terraformer.exe.log it says "ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading tools3D.pyd". Can someone please help me?

If your video card is below an ATI 9500 card or equivalent, It means just that.  An example would be any integrated graphics chipset made prior to 2 years ago or all chips made by Intel.

After just reinstalling WinXP, I get this error when I try to run it:

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "SC4Terraformer.py", line 1, in ?

File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 78, in load_module

File "SC4TerraformerApp.pyo", line 3, in ?

File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 91, in load_module

ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading tools3D.pyd

Good thing a logfile was implemented. And I get the same result from downloading the file fresh from the server.

File "SC4TerraformerApp.pyo", line 2077, in onCloseWindow

AttributeError: 'SC4Frame' object has no attribute 'timer'

Useless...

faileg9.jpg

Even with aero disabled it fails to run. I know there are no other applications running that could be using DirectX. Also, the log file it creates is empty. 28.gif
