Here's another spontaneous update. Welcome back to Bandar Sabah, the capital city which never seems to stop growing. Today we will take a closer look at one of the construction projects in the city. Welcome to the Holladay Park Plaza hotel. Once one of the most prestigious hotels in the city, boasting riverfront views and a high (for that time) panorama of the city, it now sits in disrepair. Completed in the early eighties, it was a landmark to construction on Borneo and set Bandar Sabah on the map for the first time as an optional vacation getaway. There isn't much time for reminiscing here though. The new corporation promises a gleaming tower to help revitalize this side of the CBD. 3...2...1... Success! With only a few people minority injured from the implosion, and with the rubble cleared up, construction can begin. And just like that... Done! Thanks for checking it out!

@kschmidt: Thank you! Could you clarify the question? Which road lots? Most of the Japanese stuff is from obscure websites that I got a long time ago. A lot of what you see is from Somy. @simlink: Thanks! Much appreciated! @Schulmanator: Thanks friend! Good to be back (on and off at least)

After a hiatus of... well, too long from Simcity, I have decided to crack open some of my very old projects (at least for a time). So, without further adieu, welcome back...

Oh, the message that I get is just a random advisor message "Mayor is a giant of governing gifts..." once I closee it, the game crashes. For a moment, I thought that sc4terraformer would be a way to terraform over the building and save it t destoy just the area I terraformed, but then I realized that it either converts the whole tile to god-mode, or it saves it without destroying anything. So, basically there is nothing I can do, just revert the city to god-mode?

So, I have an interesting CTD issue. I recently downloaded a custom building, tested it to ensure stability, and then proceeded to place it in one of my cities. Unfortunately, this building ended up being not so stable (Im 98% sure that this building is the issue), and now I am experiencing CTD when loading the city. The odd thing is, is that I can get into the city, and I can see the building in front of me. An "advisor" message prevents me from doing anything, but it also prevents the game from crashing. As soon as I close out of the advisor message, the game crashes. It doesnt give me enough time to bulldoze the lot or anything... My question is: Is there any way that I can bulldoze this lot (or even destoy a small section of the city where it is located) from outside the game? Any other help would be much appreciated Thanks!

hmm, any suggestions for a permanent fix?

Really? AFAIK, there's no difference in graphics quality between hardware and software rendering. If you use software rendering, you also won't be able to use any HD terrain textures or other HD custom content. (that is, anything that doesn't look pixelated at the zoom level that's closest to the ground) Well, technically, I just assumed that it was because of the hardware rendering. Basically what happens is that it looks fine when I enter a city, but with time, and especially if I scroll the screen, the colors start looking off and it gets kind of pixilated. If I zoom out or in, it goes back to normal. If this isn't because of the hardware/software rendering, what could it be? If I can find a solution other that trying to get software rendering to work, then that'd be great. Thanks for the help.

I have the same problem!-Its because your trying to use software rendering. Whenever I try and run the game under software rendering, I just get a black screen, but with music and interaction in the background. I too am trying to figure out the solution because hardware rendering provides for lower quality graphics...

Running the Windows version of Simcity 4 on Mac in a virtual machine
Sky Guy replied to haap303's topic in SC4 Mac Users
If you do a right click -> Properties on the shortcut that you use to open the game, in the first field, target, after the ...\SimCity4.exe", you can enter a space and then any of several startup commands to modify how the game is displayed - i.e. custom resolution, force software mode, disable the intro video, etc. More info here. FYI, I've posted the flags I use a few posts above. You might want to at least try the "-d:software" and see if that does anything for you. Personally, I never had an issue running software with 3D acceleration enabled. You may want to eventually explore running the game in Wine, which will give you the benefit of being able to run "natively" under OS X. One of the disadvantages I have with Wine is that I can only run in software mode, actually. Oh, gotcha. yeah,I actually did that, as well as the -d:software extension and got the same results. I have considered wine- and maybe I will look more into it, but considering the fact that I payed for parallels, I would like to be able to use it for all my windows, etc needs. -
Running the Windows version of Simcity 4 on Mac in a virtual machine
Sky Guy replied to haap303's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Thanks, yeah I can delete the simcity4.cfg file and all is well, but that just bumps it back to default settings (hardware rendering). I would like to find a way to keep it on software rendering, if I can ever find the solution to the black screen. On parallels options, I disabled 3d acceleration, and it solved the black screen, but it was so choppy and slow that it was unplayable, so I set it back to DirectX10. Also, which command line string? Parallels, mac, windows 7... sc4? Im not very tech savvy, although I try to be...
