You can, just create your own config.bmp with the layout you want open it in sC4T and start terraforming

There is a tutorial on the omnibus about creating config.bmp

Hello, If anyone has an answer, I just have a quick question:

I just started a new region and have only terraformed several cities so far. Once all of the cities in my region have been terraformed (using SC4 Terraformer), will the game still ask to reconcile the city edges once I open a city to play in this region? In other words, does the SC4 terraformer remove the need for city to city edge reconciliation once the whole region has been terraformed? Thanks for any help with this!

No it won't tell SC4 to not reconcile, but you just have to say 'no' in SC4 as the edge are already reconcilied ( even if SC4 does not know that fact )

I have thoroughly read the readme and the thread, and have an issue which I believe to be as yet un-addressed.  I just got a new computer, running Vista, which has Directx 10.  I've read that there's no backwards compatibility for previous Directx versions.

When it comes to running the SC Terraformer on Vista, are we just S.O.L?  Looks like a great program, would love to use it.  Thanks for your time in developing and supporting!

I reinstalled the latest SCTF, had no other programs running, and it didn't work.  So far it looks like SCTF in Vista is a no-go.

Anyone else running Vista out there have a different experience?  Please advise! 4.gif

A newbie here... Do not in any way, shape or form want to appear rude or ungrateful to all the gifted contributors to the SC4 community, but have done all the steps outlined in the README, and the support forum, and SC4Terraformer still fails to run. Updated DirectX as of last night. Found 'msvcp71.dll'. Have 'MS .NET v1.1.4322'.

Have tried both Terraform v0.7c, & v1.0c. Error log for v10c shows the same as others, as follows:

    Traceback (most recent call last):

    File "SC4Terraformer.py", line 1, in ?

    File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 78, in load_module

    File "SC4TerraformerApp.pyo", line 3, in ?

    File "zipextimporter.pyo", line 91, in load_module

    ImportError: MemoryLoadLibrary failed loading tools3D.pyd

All the files you describe are in my Win\System folder. Adding the 'msvcp71.dll' file anywhere TF can find it (sytem, sytem32, the TF directory) aborts the error.log process, and gives me a Windows 'illegal page fault in msvcr71.dll '

    Does TF require a particular location? ..\Simcy4? ..\MyDocs\Simcity4? ..\ProgramFiles?

Can I get a definitive answer from the programmer? Will it run under Win98SE? The 'wpxpopen.exe" file would indicate it does. Many of us out here are still using older OS's, and dial-up connections. Minimum OS requirements on the download info page and in the 'readme' would be nice.

Anyhelp from anyone who has fixed this on their installation would be appreciated. I really do want to try this program.

Apologies... Haven't figured out how to format my 1st post here. Just figured out I have to format in html.

    What? Me, worry?

Do not in any way, shape or form want to appear rude or ungratefulquote>

You prove you have tried every bit of infos available to you, so no problem. You're welcome

    Does TF require a particular location? ..\Simcy4? ..\MyDocs\Simcity4? ..\ProgramFiles? quote>

No, nothing, but it requires SC4 to be correctly ( as in legally from the installer ) installed in your system

Can I get a definitive answer from the programmer? ...quote>

I can't tell you if it works for other than WinXP as it is the only system I can test and fix things

I know some others members can't run some of my others tools on Win98, so I doubt SC4TF can run on it especially due to the fact that I'm not sure DX9.0c is Win98 compatible, I don't think so

Many of us out here are still using older OS's, and dial-up connections. Minimum OS requirements on the download info page and in the 'readme' would be nice. quote>

At the time of the writing of the readme, noone complained about possible Win98 problem and Vista was not available. That is why there is nothing written about that

    Sorry

    Take care

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know I'm doing everything right, and still getting a wrong result. Though I haven't tested it in all circumstances yet, the current (April) install of DX hasn't given me any proplems, and MS says in the download info page that win98 is supported, so that's probably not an issue.

On the subject of OS's: I respect that you, as the programmer, have crafted what appears to be an excellent and desired tool for the community. My point was that many of us may not upgrade our OS for a long time, and a simple "WinXP required." on the download page would save many a great deal of time, including yourself, as it might eliminate many of the "It don't work!" posts. Thanks anyway, I'll keep the download for the time in the far future when I finally upgrade.

    What? Me, worry?

Maybe the image viewer you're using in not 16bit png aware ?

Try to create a new region with an exported 16bit png, if the new region is exactly the same, then there is no problem in SC4TF, just change your image viewer 4.gif

Only photoshop CS and maybe elements are able to read/write 16bit png, irfvanview and Gimp are able to read 16bit but it convert them to 8bit,

hi, i have a problem. i can't play sc4tf . i had done all the things that i read in the readme and i don't know what to do. when i try to play it , it appears the readme and no the sc4tf. i renamed the 'readme name' but this doesn't work because it apears me a notice that say : ''no readme found, i hope you have read it ! '' and a lot of other words i don't remeber now but they are not important. It also appears me in the SC4TerraFormer.exe document a message that say this: IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'datas/mask.png' , what does it mean?. I have the directx version that you wanted . Maybe i'm wrong, because i don't know what aplication i have to play ; you know , there are about 3 aplications of SC4TF , or the icon is similar , anyway they don't work. It's important where i have download the zip file? did i have download it in an especific folder?, please help me , i wanna play it right now! x)

Hey guys, not sure what the problem is, but after importing the Three Rivers Region (full), some of the squares in game contain no terrain, as in, they are empty - just blue water. Any ideas? Thanks.

Michael => if you mean in the region view, just check you're not in 'show transportation network', if in city, just chekc you have not a special terran mod

simongd=> sorry, no notification and I was in holidays last weeks, so make sure you have the unzip with the fodler structure

Hello wouanagaine - can I congratulate you on the excellent SC4 Terraformer, as a first time user of the program, it is really great.

Anyway, re Windows Vista, I can confirm that SC4 Terraformer DOES work on Windows Vista (I'm using Home Premium Edition).

To do this, I extracted the v1.1 file as normal, right clicked "SC4 Terrafomer.exe", and on the Compatibility Tab I told Windows to use compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, and to run in Administrator mode. I don't know if you have to do this, but as the program has been designed for XP it seemed to be the right thing to do.

As far as I can tell, all the functonality works correctly.

(PS: SC4 Mapper does not work under Vista, even with the compatibility stuff above enabled).

I hope this is helpful, and many thanks,

    IAP

Thx IAP, this is a real good news ! I wasn't sure of the avalaibility of some of the DirectX9 components in Vista

The bad news is that SC4Mapper works well on my Vista machine without any compatibilites issues. Have you tried downloading the msvcp71.dll and gdiplus.dll from dll-files.com ?

No. I don't partucularly want to add custom DLLs to Vista. All the functionality that is in SC4Mapper that I use (ie importing maps from .sc4 files) is in SC4 Terraformer, so there is no need for me to do so.

    Anyway, glad to help,

    IAP
