It really nice!  What's some of your cities names?

Assuming you are referring to city tiles (which I consider like Counties) mine are not very exciting at all. Since this is the largest region I've ever played and I use my generated topological map for region wide planning I've just been naming the tiles spreadsheet style. *

Topo Reference Map:

Corillion - Topo.jpg

^ To get the full effect one needs to click the image and then download the full size version so you can zoom in. *;)
Each large tile is 256x256 pixels in that map for a one to one relation to the number of cells in the game. (Full image size is 3523x3473 pixels.)

So, I've moved the region and have my next tiles ready to build in and it looks like this with Names and Grid showing:

img3507.jpg

^ You might notice I'm Mayor Dot. I simply use the period character as my mayor name so it takes up the least amount of space in this view.

Once I start naming actual towns within the city tiles I'll reuse some from my last region such as:

  • Amo
  • Boring
  • Coriville
  • Cranky Corner
  • Dipsy-Doodle
  • Gnaw Bone
  • Hop Bottom
  • Maux Ferry
  • Mosquitoville
  • No Name
  • Ridge
  • Round Lake
  • Twig
  • Two Egg
  • Uncertain
  • Zap

The way I'm playing any given city tile could have several towns and I can use the in game Signs for those.

I love your planning strategy and innerregional-grid namjng structure!  i will use this method for my next project.   ive developed Stepford Region since SC3 days of 2006 then carried over in 2008 when i finally updated to SC4.  Now my region is practically filled from single tile to single tile in 2018.   i like your city names.

I wasn't very satisfied with my original Bel-Air map cause it was 4X4 large cities and i felt that i need more space for the development so i've made a larger 6x6 region so i can put all my ideas and themed areas in a natural organic way. So i present you La Salle

General view

La+Salle+%257E+Motor+City+1.png

Cities borders on

La+Salle+%257E+Motor+City+2.png

my plan is to build one city to rule them'... ehem... to cover the entire map with some suburbs and stuff

Latest development of the San Louis Obispo/Morrow Bay Ca. map.  A series of day and nighttime pictures of the most populated tile in the region so far, plus the close up of the developed areas of the region so far.  6 tiles simmed up to 250 years so far, working on a 7th which will complete 1/5 of the region to that date.  Region population so far is 528,153, Ind 232,000 and commercial at 1.68 million.

The close up regional area developed so far...

Darn it, just lost all my text I just typed out....errrr.  Anyways, update on the Drangon Mouth region.  Four cities became five, Brimstone Bay (28 large tiles), Cauldron Hills (18 large tiles), Hell's Gate (18 large tiles), Paradise Heights (16 large tiles) and Thunder Valley (14 large tiles).  There are also 6 water tiles, all large.  Image below showcases city limits and placenames designating which city is which with arrows.

EDIT:  Did a little freeway layout for the city of Thunder Bay (in black) and what's planned for the rest of the map so far (in red).  Only Thunder bay's borders or drawn in this time.  Also took my small images of Interstate highway numbers ,shrank them down and pasted the numbers on their designated freeways.

After logging into my account for the first time in over a year (maybe close to two) due to a lack of free time and moving back to LA, I finally got back to finishing my pride and joy, Kellan. I've been making some surprising fast progress so far. Also, I'm going to update Kellan's City Journal for the first time in a while so stay tuned!

November 2016 (last region shot I've taken before recent months despite the fact I was still working on the region every now and then)

S1bDcWu.jpg

January 2018, not many changes obviously. I would say only about 5% of the changes took place between Nov. 2016 and Jan. 2018. The rest happened in the month of January alone.

hiuu6cP.jpg

January 2018, Political Map View (the unnamed city has been named to Berkeley Highlands after nearby Berkeley btw, got the idea from Issaquah and Issaquah Highlands in Seattle).

ibxLdsS.jpg

May 2018, most of the progress (like 70%) actually took place in the first two weeks of April. Airport still isn't finished either, it was supposed to be loosely based off of SeaTac in Seattle but I've gotten kind of lost.

Looking forward to seeing the full growth!  Isnt it something how SC preserves in time from the last time the region was loaded?  Whats your current population?  Remember that Interstate project a group of us were passing through regions? that was "CoolwiththeCool!"

I am making a region using the Maxis god mode tools only, and I think it's looking pretty good. There's more information in my CJ 'Welcome to The Flatlands'. This is an updated region shot since the first post, including heavy terrain updates to include a south-western mountain range, and a harbour on the southern border of the region. The region terrain is probably about 1/5th completed, and about half of that is developed/in development.

It's been a few weeks since my last post and now that I have the missing plugins issue fixed, I've been a little busy expanding the city of Thunder Valley on the Dragon Mouth region.  The city now boasts a population of just over 126,000.

The region overview as it currently stands.5afddb4ece061_DragonMouth0006.thumb.jpg.48d3cd6d531b745b6c914216ce213d7f.jpg

The region road map as it currently stands.  The I22 freeway is now called the Angry Mozart Expressway in honor of fellow SimTrop member Angry Mozart.  A new interstate has been added to the mix, I322 which runs north-south and the I122 south of the cloverleaf interchange has been redesignated to the I622 which loops (when finished) through the city of Cauldron Hills which borders Thunder Valley to the south.

Thanks.  Much appreciated.

The 14 large city tiles have now been developed up to 25 Sim years.  So far, all 14 'districts' that make up Thunder Valley have a combined 408,000+ residents and raking in over $6,300,000+ a year a profits after expenditures.  Going to be building the freeways in the two cities that cover the southern portion of the region, Cauldron Hills which is directly south of Thunder Valley and Paradise Heights to the south-west which cover 34 total tiles.  Then I'll snap some images of the road map and region views.  For now though, here's Thunder Valley City Center West, the economic powerhouse of all 14 districts.

Last update for awhile.  I finished building the main freeway system on the southern portion of the region, but had to split the road map in half.  For the next several weeks, I'll be developing the south-western corner of the region where the I1 and I901 run through.  The area covers 16 large city tiles and is named Paradise Heights.  After that, I'll probably move onto the south-eastern portion of the region and begin filling that in with development.

The Thunder Valley, Cauldron Hills and parts of Paradise Heights road map....

Thanks.  I started drawing road maps when I was 12 back in the late 70s  after my dad gave me a Rand McNally road atlas, back in the days when more than half the ineterstate highway system was still under construction.  One of the reasons I got hooked on SimCity from the first one 30 years ago and hooked for life on SC4.  Now I can build the cities as if drawing map and seeing what it looks like as it grows.  Just wish I had an entire set of Interstate highway markers to go with the game.  I've also been thinking about doing a CJ... of a different kind.  Not so much a story, if one at all, just updates on the region with region/region map/city photos, freeway development and other pertinent information.

Have fun resuming your region if you decide so.  *:thumb:  I'll be posting again with regional updates in a few weeks again.  Should have a lot done in developing the second of five cities in the region.

UPDATE: the region has grown to a population of 37.6 million, surpassing the population of Canada.

I apologize for the low quality picture. I couldn't figure out how to get the picture smaller than the 4mb limit so I had to resize using paint. I'm not particularly knowledgeable with this kind of stuff. If you have any suggestions how to get high quality pictures down to 4mb, let me know. I use Region Census to get these shots then off to MS Paint to edit. 5b0ef2b7d2bcf_Humboldt4.thumb.png.94eebe77e0f1a27a6da49d7aebacb99d.png

I use Irfanview to resize images without them looking all funky when shrinking them down from their original size.  Hope this helps you out.  Here's a link to their main page.  https://www.irfanview.com/
