I recently got back to the game and continued with this region with 803 733 residents. Two largest cities have about 200 000 residents, but are having the usual problem with too long commuting times and no customers. The hole in the middle was caused by a game crash and is now considered a great tourist attraction. :)

...Hey, that's actually kinda cool-looking. It balances flatland for building, with elevation diffrences for variety. I might hafta go try that now.

A region I just started three days ago. I am still opening the city tiles so it shows the terrain, and not the Terraformer colors.

It's named Alpena in my regions folder, but it is the Somewhere in the World #1 map by blade2ks of the NHP team.

Let's go to somewhere that's less populous--allow me to present you the Emeraldian Madagascar region! This place is actually a slightly modified version of the that will house elements of the Emeraldian Isles (fictious country of my making--houses the precursor dragon nation). As for what it has different, I added various rivers and worked in greater detail the shorelines, to make them more city-friendly. I had it since a while ago but I decided to overhaul it a bit to start it with just about all the land already fixed:

Not truly related to SC4, this is a map I am working on, it's still unfinished. It's a map of a part of the fictional country where most of my SC4 regions are located. I've posted a similar map earlier in this forum, of another part of that country, but this one has lots of mountains (lots of work). The land is located around a shallow sea with some tidal inlets. To the north are hills, and to the east and northeast are high mountains. In this mountain region is a large and very deep like, a bit like Lake Baikal in Siberia. To the south are more low lying areas, with some dune rows near the coast. The southeast has some large lakes on a flat area that is above sea level.

The grey lines are borders, light grey is of Provinces within a country, dark grey is of the countries themselves. In the mountainous area, some lines are missing because I want to redraw them to fit the water drainage divide, many borders in the real world follow these divides.

I now have to keep filling in all the hills and mountains with colour to finish the map.

Feel free to use the colour scheme I left in the middle for your own maps!

Thanks! Region is New Haven, your creation if I recall correctly. A great map, kudos for sharing it! I use the Appalacian mod (spelling?) by Lowkee33, which can be found on the LEX.

Thanks man! Appreciated.

Hi Wiecher,

Izi

I used MS Paint and a colour scheme I got from a weather site, and then I just started drawing, line by line, pixel by pixel.

I started with the outlines of the lowest elevations and worked my way up through the colours.

PS I find it strange my post is in this thread since I am fairly certain I originally posted it in the Show us your maps thread... Some moderator moved it?

Well, I don't plan on making a region out of it, but some regions I have are located somewhere on this map. The scale is approximately 1 pixel to 250 in game meters, so this map is an area of about 400x325 km.

Some alpine regions are located in the mountainous area, regions featuring hills and a coastline are along the sea and island regions are, what else, the islands. But I have 1 other (finished) map like this, and plan on making 4 others to cover the whole country, and many other regions I play with are located on those as well.

It's not completely accurate, the regions and their location on this map, but the basic features are the same, locations of seas, lakes, rivers, mountains etc.

I just like to make maps and when I start a new region, I look for a place on the maps it roughly corresponds to, and then maybe adjust the map a little.

I play almost 50 regions, some more often than others, but I always give them a place on my fictional world. Most are located in the country the area on the above map is part of, but some are in other countries, which have their own maps, though not as detailed as this one, yet.

This is a small, not detailed map of the country, you can see the area where the above map is located.

There have been a few border corrections I have not yet changed on it.

15me4gh.jpg

1zph7gh.jpg

Where I originally got the idea from, a kind of satellite image of a fictional area. It's from an artist conception of a terraformed Venus, found here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/b/b9/20091124022816%21TerraformedVenus.jpg

The other countries I spoke of are located somewhere on this planet, mostly on the continent with the large ice sheet, just as my main country.

As you can see there are a lot of clouds above the area that is on the map, so I could make up a lot of the landscape myself, but you can see the blue of the lake through the clouds.

Look for the Region View Program in the LEX, that's what most use here to show the regions without the region view buttons blocking the sight.

Started a new 8x8 large tiles region about 3 months ago. Not using any add-ons or plugins, hence not posting a CJ.

Currently ~330k population. Working on everything simultaneously and just having fun. 4.gif

Update:

Population > 1 mio.

Next update about 1 year from now with 5 mio. population. ;)

Here's a region I'm working on using the NHP Ventura-Oxnard map. For a sense of size, Its about 5 or 6 city tiles, and a real world scale is that each square in the grid is 1 square mile. It is currently just over 1 million in population, and still growing.

So, there isn't a way to get your entire region? I have a region with probably about 150 or more cities in it.
