Here are two shots of the city I'm currently working on. I aim for a style similar to cities in the south of the US, especially Houston. So it's just a lot of low density sprawl...At some Point I want it to have 500.000 inhabitants, but transit times are already killing me...

This is about 3 months of work as I try to get it as realistic as possible..

@ ReschNicolai: You can get textures and custom trees here on the stex (cycledogg's trees are really good! ). On the left side of the STEX, click on "modd files" or "texture files", you should be able to browse through some excellent modds for trees, etc. You can also go to the BSC Exchange.

Amazing regions everyone.

Heblem, yours is absolutely fantastic! I tend to shy away from developing on large hills like you did, but it looks great! I suppose it takes skill to make hillside developments look good.

Mr. BrightSide, your region looks like it's developing quite nicely too. I like the planned transportation networks.

Timmystwin, I love that map you've chosen. Plenty of nice scenery for those sims to appreciate.

ReschNicolai, I can't imagine how long it took you to develop that region. I would hate to drive in that city with such a dense population!

I flew into Salt Lake recently and this looks VERY close! Absolutely fantastic region view, and the snow is just a magnificent plus.

I absolutely love it, 12231989! It could easily be mistaken to be anywhere in Norway in the winter as well. So realistic! Great work!

apart from looking plain awesome, could it be that this map is sort of turned 180°?

That Salt Lake City recreation is looking absolutely gorgeous, I love the sprawl and the way it accomodates the landscape..great job 12231989

I made some progress on my sunbelt region which has now (using residential halver) some 470.000 inhabitants, and with the adding of two more minor business centers San Jacinto and Richmond Beach capacities for more than a million. I find it really difficult to get an appealing regional view as well as an individual style to each tile. Whatever, I'd like to know what you guys think.

So here's the latest shot I took from my region. A lot of progress, NOT! 3.gif I haven't had any time at all to play SC4 recently. Actually I'm going to delete this region and start all over again using the same (awesome) map as soon as I have time for it. Might be pointless but it's starting to generate issues (some tiles won't load anymore - don't have backups since my external harddisk which had all the backups on it is broken) Also I've kind of changed my mind on which way I'm going to develop it.

I'm still working on it in Terraformer and haven't even opened it in game yet.

A lot of the land in the area is so close to sea level, some even below sea level, so when I edited the DEM files into grayscale images and then loaded it into Terraformer it thought a lot of the land area was under water... and obviously the mountain tops have been chopped off, so I'm going to edit those areas to have a more mountain range look to them.

The area is Metro Vancouver in B.C., Canada... most of it anyway, I cut off a bit in the north. I was just going to make a small portion of the area rather than the entire thing, but I decided I'd go ahead and make this... it's 75 km from East to West and 60 km from North to South.

overview-2010.jpg

A few on the center of my own simNation - the insular realm of Inishmore. My grandest SC4 production so far, with over 4'000'000 people, and I admit, a high focus on transportation and realism. There is Sedona - down to the Canal and L. Elbe Airport - on the down right hand corner, and a 500'000 inhabitants arm up to the Rathlin-Hajira conglomerate (600'000 each). To the south lie some more minor islands, while the bulk of agricultural and industrial strength comes from a mainland from the north (on the top right hand corner).
