football_fever, the waterfall looks awesome. This shot is nearly pefect except the graphics don't look right in the canal in one of the diagonals 9.5/10

gabry85, Looks busy, I don't like the way the overpasses look, there to sharp in angle. I'd also consider upgrading the street to a road. 7.8/10

metasmurf, To dark, not enough lighting for a night shot 6.2/10

suplado, not much into the whole desert scene but it look nice 8.1/10

Shadow_prophet, Very nice, I like the photoshop lighting very real. Decent harbor 8.6/10

football: wow! talk about grand! the city is beautiful, and that terraforming is insane! i don't like the space ships, but i know that's because of your futuristic journal so i won't pick on that 8/10 4.gif

gabry: quite nice, the only thing i don't like is the palm trees since they look a little plastic, but this would make a great journal! i really like the borders you put in your picture, it has that 'widescreen' effect that a lot of movies and t.v shows have now days, great work! 9/10

metasmurf: a bit dark, but your town looks great! nice use of that curving road aswell 8/10

suplado: awesome! i love that new ploppable water and it looks great! the only thing that i must pick on is that it's over the base texture which makes it look kind of funky, but a beautiful mosaic, i like your photoshopping! 9/10

shadow_prophet: looks pretty good, a bit quiet though for such a large city. the rocks in the water look a bit odd aswell 7/10

amerikaner: awesome city, the photoshopping is a bit dark though 3.gif i want to see the details of that beautiful city! 3.gif 8/10

football: I love the waterfall and cliff face, truly lovely 9.5/10

gabry: not sure about the palm trees, but overall looks good 7/10

metasmurf: good use of curve, overall not bad 7/10

suplado: lovely image indeed, would echo the water over the base issue, apart from that 8/10

shadow_prophet: very very good, adore those marina sets 9/10

amerikaner: a bit dark but effective and a lovely city 8.5/10

seahawk: love the rain and the light from the tower, looks fab 8.5/10

one from me.....taken from my most recent update

Thanks guys for the comments and crits, i'll make the necessary adjustments based on what was pointed out as well.

Ratings first as usual:

Amerikaner: Dark but at least details are still visible, 8.3/10

sEAhAwk fAn121: Okay but some details can't be seen very clearly, good affects.8.1/10

belfastuniguy: Spectacular fireworks display. 8.7/10

I wanted to create a waterfall, so i thought i'd give a try. Any suggestion on how to make a visually pleasing waterfall is most welcomed.

Here is what i cooked up so far:

Waterfall.jpg

Before anyone asks why doesn't it fill up and overflow, Underground river. thank you

Shadow_prophet: Excellent terraforming and spectacular waterfall! Where can I get it? 9/10! 44.gif

Really? never noticed when i visited Oslo. I usually see a lot of people walking about everywhere most of the time. More pedestrians than cars i guess. 4.gif

But hey who am i to say, was going up mountains most of the time.

Shadow_Prophet: the best thing you can do when making waterfalls with free-flowing streams is to plop the stream at the top, then use mayor mode terraforming tools to lower or raise the terrain until it looks right. Add more flows to the top if it needs it. Keep adjusting until it looks perfect...don't settle for anything less than perfection.

Wow. I fell extraordinarily humbled posting after that beast of a photo! Amazing work 10/10

Here's a part of my latest. Experimenting with more GLR, including in avenue:

Heraldsmothcentral.jpg

I'll get some wider shots once I'm happier with more of the city.

Seahawkfan:  One of the better rain effects I've seen put on top of two of the better Bat's I've ever seen.  9.1/10

Belfastinguy:  Really cool fireworks effects.  No, no, I mean it, really cool.  9.4/10

Shadow Prophet:  That's some great terreforming.  I don't really care if it's realistic or not, it's awesome.  The fact that it dwarfs the skyscrapers makes it that much cooler.  9.2/10

Exil3:  not bad... just not exciting in and of itself.  7.3/10

ejc:  Wow, there's more details in there than you could shake a stick at.  Not that I ever quite understood where that saying comes from... eh, anyways.  Seems like every time I look back at it there is something new I missed the first time.  9.8/10

HuskerDude:  While there's nothing inheritly wrong with the pic, it just seems to lack a sense of focus.  7.4/10

C0ckatoo-210893:  Whoa those are some cool skyscrapers.  The lighting really makes the picture, and the rather free-flowing park paths at the bottom just put the icing on the cake.  9.6/10

The_sanderson:  hmm, part of me says it really cool, and part just isn't as pursuaded for some reason, though I can't put my finger on why, so I'll meet myself in the middle.  8.5/10

sepsis:  It's got a real wispy, solumn feel to it.  It's part the graveyard and part the colors.  On top of it, I like how all the base textures and sidewalks match up, shows a lot of effort put into getting the right effect.  9.4/10

Penguin007:  Some aspects look cool with the blurring, in particular the streets and area right around them, but the pond really detracts from the scene with it's repetitiveness.  7.8/10

Wwetom1:  While the building itself is cool(except for the cloud textures on it,)  the setting fails to be impressive.  6.5/10

Here's a bridge I made recently over the new transparent ploppable water, with a little perspective editing.  I rather liked the results despite the simplicity of the scene.

bridgeovermuddywatersmlfd9.jpg

oh yea, and don't mind the trees in the water, the river's just up a little bit over normal2.gif

belfastuniguy, Looks sweet 9/10

Shadow_prophet, not sure how I could tell you how to make it look better, but it looks unnatual. 9/10 for effort 7/10 for quality.

ExiL3, not bad looks like something I'm working on 7.5/10

E.J.C 8O wow, that is some awesome stuff. 10/10

HuskerDude, not bad I like the idea, can we see how you have worked in the stations. 8/10

C0ckatoo-210893, Now this is what I come to expect, great and beautiful tall buildings 9.8/10

The_sanderson, That's a nice design, well done. 8.6/10

sepsis, It looks good but it seems a bit washed. 7.9/10

penguin007, Not sure what I'm looking at, looks like a dream 7/10

wwetom1, ?? 4/10

Alien_397, awsome concept I'd love to know the link of the water 9/10

patfirefghtr, Looks really nice, I also like the walls, would like the link for the dam and walls if you don't mind 8.3/10

Ah, that would be Jeronij's new gift to SC4 available at SC4Devotion: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1227.  I highly recommend it44.gif.  (for those who don't know what I'm rambling about here, smstevenms asked about the transparent ploppable water in my previous pic)

Well done Pat.  I think it'd be better if it wasn't up against the side of the map and a little more care could have been taken on the edges of the water I think though.  The dam itself is nicely done.  8.2/10

Here's a small ditch running through a rural town I'm working on.
