    LOL, thanks... I guess I did. 18.gif

Well, it never hurts to practice... so if you want, go ahead and finish creating your own version. 19.gif

Hi Mallow, at first I must say that I really love your great maps! They are wonderful and really true to scale!
Now I one wish. Could you please make the Region of Long Beach , but Long Beach near Los Angeles (CA)? It would be very nice if you could do this! Thanks!

Thank you for the comments. 29.gif I would love to do this map for you, but there is already a long list in the requests thread. Maybe after I finish Lafayette, LA, I'll look in to Long Beach.

And Airmale, I do very much appreciate that comment! The Gorge is one of my favourite maps, and there's really not all that much interest in it. So, I'm glad you said something. 9.gif

EDIT: Lafayette has been released and is slated to show up soon!

Nice job with the map but you might want to make an updated revised version with Pier 400.  Other than that, its pretty accurate.44.gif

Mallowthecloud. I've got a question: I saw your tutorial on creating international maps, and it's great; however, I wonder if there's a way to create custom maps of the same quality (i mean fantasy maps). Right now I'm terraforming maps ingame, and the larger the region, the more time it takes. Besides that, you don't have a nice overview of the region, since the regionview in SC4 is somewhat limited (especially on very large maps; for example 16x16 large tiles)

I was wondering: is there a better, faster way to create the stunning maps you do, but this time of fantasy-regions?

Utora: Unfortunately, I don't know any way to create fantasy maps except either by hand, by editing real world terrains to your liking, or by using images like clouds.

Sorry I can't help you more than that.

SUICO: You are very welcome, and I truly appreciate all the work that you and the other moderators at http://www.simcitybrasil.com.br/

And, Wizards Coast has been released, and is slated to show up soon!

Just downloaded your Ann Arbor map and plan to use it in the morning. 1.gif Looks terrific and rendered in less than five minutes on my desktop beast! Woohoo!

I do have a question, though. Should the 500m.dat file remain in the plugins directory AFTER rendering or should it be removed?

Thanks again for your hard work. Your maps look absolutely terrific.

The 500m.dat can and should be removed from the plugins folder. Especially if you plan on rendering another map afterwards. 29.gif

I like your work, I looked at the Portland map and I recognize the terrain.  Although, it looks like Sandy Blvd. is a chain of small lakes. 9.gif I went to high school there, and my family lives in the Mt. Taybor/Rocky Butte area.

I would like to see a map with the Tri Cities (Pasco, Kenniwick, Richland) somewhere in the southcentral part.  Maybe with Spokane on the northeast corner, including La Grande and The Dalles.

BTW, would you be able to instruct me on how to change the city boundaries in the SC4 Deluxe standard custom region.  I dislike the small cities, as I like to connect my cities with water.

    thanks,

    First, thanks!

Second, Sandy Blvd is actually a bit further south, and aligned SW to NE. That chain of small lakes is actually the Columbia Slough. 2.gif

Third, there is actually already a map of the Tri-Cities... it is in the US Map Pack, I believe.

Fourth, a map that includes Spokane, Tri Cities, LaGrande, and The Dalles would be far too big. This area is probably (just an estimate) 200km by 200km... unless you wanted it scaled down by a factor of 5 or 6.

And finally, unfortunately, there is no way to change the city-size-layout (config.bmp) of an already-rendered map without deleting most of the data.

Thank you for the response.  I didn't find the map you refered to, only a map called Walla Walla, which I think must be close to the Tri Cities, as Walla Walla is pretty much land locked.

As for the size of the map I was interested in, you can tell I am not much at relating scale to SC regions.

I did find I could get the city size I wanted by recoloring the config.bmp.  All I really wanted to do is get rid of the one pixel cities and most of the medium size cities.

    Thanks again for your consideration.

BTW:  I meant no umbrage by the Sandy Blvd. remark.

Date: 8/20/2005 2:13:06 PM Author: MallowTheCloud Oh, the Tri-Cities map is IN the Map Pack. So... you have to look up something like 'Map Pack' on the STEX. 29.gif

    Thanks again:

For anyone interested there are map packs posted at:  STEX>textures.

EDIT:   I finnally have the Tri Cities region rendered, it is a really big region.  It took almost 14 minutes to render.  I rendered with the original config.bmp, then I deleted it and added 16 medium cities with the config file and redid it.  When I did this a funny thing happened, in the SE corner the medium city shows clearly a couple of clicks below the other elevations.  But when you reconcile the city, god says the borders match.  Do you have an idea why?  I have uploaded a jpg of the offender.

That's pretty strange... try loading the city, saving it, then exiting back to the region. That fixes issues like that sometimes. 19.gif

Nice job with that map. I'm not using it, but it's a VERY accurate rendition of Newy. I should know, me and my mates managed to get lost in Newcastle's CBD!
