Wow Mallow, great work! Having been to Ottawa myself, I can tell you that it is very realistic and should net plenty of downloads!

Keep it up Mallow, looking great! That NYC is very close-up, I couldn't even tell it was NYC for a bit, but I suppose it was requested that way.

Your mapping really is amazing Mallow. You're the biggest contributor to the Mapp Squad so far as far as the amount of time you've put into these maps. Your recent maps look excellent, along with your older ones. You've also taken the bulk of the requests, and I appreciate that as well. Making those scale maps is really hard, and so many of your maps are to exact scale. Great job on all of your maps. 3.gif

The only thing I saw that wasn't completely accurate on your maps is on the NYC map, with the amount of lakes there. That, and I didn't see the Palisades (Cliffs) in NJ on the Hudson River. As for the lakes, some of them do exist, probably most of them. But some of them, like the Central Park lake, are a bit too big. Not that you should update the map or anything for this, because it's not much of a problem at all. I've had too many lakes on some of my maps too. But other than that, the NYC map looks really good.

Good luck with your future maps. You've become one of the best mappers out there, great job Mallow.

Thanks to everybody for all your compliments!!! 43.gif

And thanks for the information, comdude.

The way SC4 imports maps, it makes the waterways just a bit bigger than they should be. I usually try to resolve that by making the waterways a touch smaller in the greyscale... but the smallest waterways (and lakes) I can't do that with, because they are already only one or two pixels wide. 1.gif

And, the cliffs are kind of my fault. When I transfered the water template I accidentally made the waterways too wide. So... it's kind of hard to explain... but what I did made it to where the area bordering all the water is low elevation, completely cancelling out any cliffs.

However, the issues can be pretty easily resolved with a little bit of terraforming... so I hope that people don't mind it too much.

I actually had the lake problem on my Burlington, VT map as well. It's not much of an issue at all, and a lot of it can be attributed to rendering too. As for the cliffs, that's alright. It's more important that the Hudson River is accurate as it is on your map.

I forgot to say that this is one of the best NYC maps out there, much better than most of them that I have seen. Ottawa looks awesome as well. 10.gif

Yeah, the one before that was north of this map (mostly). They overlap just a bit, but I can assure you they are two very different regions. 19.gif

I am attaching a different version of New York City. Some people requested that Manhattan Island be aligned north-south rather than diagonally to amke it easier to build cities on in SC4.

So, here it is, attached to this post.

The new maps look great. BTW, you don't have to post both of the requested maps on Saturday anymore. You can post them whenever you want, as long as you upload no more than four maps per week. Just checking that you're aware of this, because it would work better to release them on different days probably.

Again, great job on the new maps. I look forward to more.

Yep, I knew I didn't have to release them, but I had said previously that I'd release them today... so I did.

This will, of course, not happen in the future. Thanks for the comments!

Portland looks great! If I'm correct, that's your hometown. Looks like a cool place to live.

I hope it's alright with you if I release Redhawk River tomorrow morning. I had no idea that you were making this Portland map, but still, I don't want to impact it in any way at all. It's a great map.

    I don't mind at all!

And thanks! Yep, you're right. That's where I live.

I wanted it to kind of be a surprise, and I don't mind at all that you are releasing Redhawk River tomorrow. 29.gif

    Thanks.

And yes, I know the regions are giant... but I don't like just including the downtown area, or the main part of the city.

Thanks for the information about Zeeland... I get my data from here . But, they are not DEM files, they're related .hgt files.
