    The problem you are getting is a result of SC4 not recognizing that the 250m.dat is in the plugins folder.

    Make sure it's located here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\250m.dat

    If it is, and you still have problems rendering, let me know.

    It's okay, use. Sometimes little problems can cause the whole thing not to work. It can be frustrating.

    For Lisbon and Rome, I believe you should just have 1000.dat, and not import.dat, in your plugins folder.

    Hi there Mallow. I have a question about your height mods. I wanted to start using some of them for map ideas I have in the works and need to know is what RGB setting ]for MS Paint] is sea level for each of the 12 heights? Also, what is the "import.dat" file for, and do I need it to use your mods while rendering maps? Thanks.

    Where meters is the total amount of meters (height above sea level plus water depth, which is 250m)...

    meters/255 = ImageImportScaleFactor ==> x

    Sea Level = f[x] = 250 / x

    Total Height Above Water = g[x] = x(256 - f[x])

    Height ASL ... ISF     ... Sea Level

    100m       ... 1.3725  ... 182

    250m       ... 1.9608  ... 127

    500m       ... 2.9412  ... 85

    518m       ... 3.0000  ... 83  <--- Default, no height plugins

    1000m      ... 4.9020  ... 51

    1500m      ... 6.8627  ... 36

    2000m      ... 8.8235  ... 28

    2254m      ... 9.7832  ... 26  <--- import.dat

    2500m      ... 10.7843 ... 23

    3000m      ... 12.7451 ... 20

    3500m      ... 14.7059 ... 17

    4000m      ... 16.6667 ... 15

    4500m      ... 18.6275 ... 13

    5000m      ... 20.5882 ... 12

    Hello.

    You need to include the config.bmp in your region folder. So, for example, for the Long Beach map...

    * Make a region folder called Long Beach in C:\Documents and Settings\Mallow\My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\

    * Place the config.bmp file that comes with the Long Beach map in the new region folder

    * Try to render the map

    To render the map...

    * Load Sim City 4

    * Load the new Long Beach region

    * Press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R

    * Find the greyscale.jpg map you downloaded and load it

    For the Montreal map, do the same, except with a folder called Montreal, and the Montreal config.bmp file, and the Montreal greyscale.jpg map.

    In advance, I apologize if this is the incorrect spot to make a request, but I couldn't find another thread to request maps from you specifically. 43.gif

    If it isn't too much trouble, I'd love to get an accurate scale map of Calgary, Alberta, CANADA from you.  I've been incredibly impressed with the detail and accuracy of your maps and think you'd be the most qualified map god to create it for the community.

    Please and thank you!

    I'd be more than happy to take up these requests (Calgary and Hong Kong). I just ask for some time, as I have school and a job to worry about as well. 9.gif

    HabLeUrG; it's no problem. And if you'd like to help, please do! There's a thread called "Official Mapping Community Requests" with LOADS of requests just waiting to be fulfilled. Pick whichever ones you want to do. 4.gif

    Hello Mallow!

    Name is Alex.  Thank you for doing the Okinawa region.  I live in Okinawa and have been waiting a long time for someone to do the region.

    I see that the map is 1/2 scale.  I understand a full scale region would make a map over 6000 pixels in size.  That is way to big for me.  Anyway,  in making an effort to produce a full scale version of your map I cut the island in half and then doubled the size of each half.

    Using the NE250.dat and import.dat files in my plugins folder, I rendered both maps.  The scale as far as distance is almost perfect but there are elevation rendering issues that bother me.  Okinawa is full of extreme elevation changes and very rugged terrain.  There is a limited amount of flat land anywhere on the island.  These elevation changes show up just fine if the land is near the ocean but do not show up very well in the middle parts of the island.

    I am think this is because of the editing I did in my photo editor but want to get your opinion on this.  Any help is definately appreciated.

    Yeah, that, and the resizing, probably made the resolution pretty bad. If you'd like, I could make a more detailed version of the map in sections (2 or 4?)

    Mallow,

    As long as it is possible to do a full scale version that would be great.  I think 2 sections, north and south would be perfect.  If you can cut the island in half at it's skinniest point while not cutting off the eastern or western portions I would owe you forever.35.gif

    Let me know if that is possible.

    Alex
