Small wonders. 21.gif Thery're two of about ten in the neighborhood. (For some reason, my town is against four-way stop signs... But what do you want from them? They have 3 traffic lights in a row that are all pedestrian crossings and go 30 ft from busy intersections without lights. 47.gif)quote>

There are a lot of roundabouts like this in Oregon, Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis in particular.  They are used on small neighborhood streets.  The purpose isn't to help traffic flow efficiently.  Just the opposite.  They are there to discourage drivers from using side streets to avoid clogged arterials, and keep neighborhood traffic down.

Here is a roundabout from Melbourne, Australia at the point where Peel Street, Elizabeth Street and Flemington Road meet.  Trams also cross the roundabout at five points.  The crossings are marked in a reddish brown colour.  The trams have right of way and signals flash when a tram approaches.  I think the roundabout is called Haymarket Circus officially but not many people in Melbourne are aware of that.

New York City has roundabouts too!

This one is Columbus Circle, it's located at the SW corner of Central Park.

nyc1.jpg

This one's pretty cool, it's at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn. I've never been there in person, though.

nyc2.jpg

And this one is right near my house, in New Jersey. It's like Duke was saying, where one road has priority over the other one. Problem is, people would always ignore the "Yield" signs and there were accidents every few days.

nj1.jpg

It's since been remodeled. the actual circle is smaller, and there are bypass lanes so people going from top left to bottom left or bottom right to top right can skip the whole thing. But people STILL don't know the right way to go around it, once I saw an old guy going around the wrong direction!

after seeing the complaints about the magic roundabouts, i decided to make an 8-way magic roundabout, and here's the result, with the normal roundabout in the center so you can see the difference between a regular roundabout and a magic roundabout!

Ok that Magix Roundabout is just ridiculous... haha

Roundabouts are so awesome! Gives everything a very centric feeling, and then everything just branches off from it.. I don't think Toronto has any...

Well, my home town has no roundabouts, rotaries, or traffic circles. There are some in the state, but they are rare.

I did however want to correct an error most of the posters here have made... A Roundabout ether has entering traffic yield or stop, whereas traffic circles have traffic control on the circle (either the traffic in the circle has to yield to entering traffic or it has stop signs or traffic signals).

From my experience, Mexico usually has Traffic Circles, as does New York City, whereas everyone else usually has roundabouts.

Also, the junction mentioned in Portland, OR is technically a traffic circle, as it has transit stops in the lanes of the circle.

This Interchange in Portland is an elongated Traffic Circle (due to two stoplights on the circle) that wraps around the junction of I-5 and I-405 in Portland, and connects I-5 to US-26, OR-43, and Downtown Portland via OR-99W.

Just a few images of some roundabouts in Belfast.

Firstly what is known as Broadway. Linking the Westlink to the M1. Currently under re-developed removing the at-grade junction between the two major routes with a new underpass. The new roundabout will have a new sculpture placed in the middle also.

What it did look like

They did decide to put one in Fargo, ND, where it doesn't do any good. It's in the middle of a new residential development with practically no traffic.

Ireland has lots of roundabouts. The problem is a lot of them were built when the country was poor before 90's and they can't cope with the unexpected volume they have today (also the Irish Government seem to be allergic to building things for future needs and not current needs)

This is the Phoenix Monument in the middle of a roundabout in the largest enclosed park in Europe, the Phoenix Park.

Phoenix_Monument.jpg

The next two are on the M50 , Ireland's busiest motorway. A lot of the junctions are currently being upgraded or are going to be, bye bye roundabouts 18.gif The first one is going to be upgraded, the second one isn't.....Oh and yes that is a train and canal running on bridges through the middle of the junction and a river, pedestrian bridge, and sewage pipe to the north & south of the roundabout.

And last, but not least, is the sometimes scary Walkinstown Roundabout.  May not look like much but it's usually full of people driving quickly, I dread the first time I'll have to use it 8.gif

Its art (Well in somebodies eyes) Also im surprised you Americans dont have many roundabouts (which are completely different to traffic circles) As you do have ALOT of vehicles...

Here's a few from my city Umeå, north Sweden. We have tons of them.

E4/E12 interchange. Notice the slip lane.

roundabout1fm1.jpg

Roundabouts around Teg's Centrum, connecting to E4. Confusing? Very much so!

roundabout2om4.jpg

Another one on E4, connecting to the suburb "Haga" and "Regementet", a closed military regiment, now functioning as an office park.

That has to be the most evil roundabout i've ever seen. Look more like five intersection squished together.

EDIT:

traffic light tree

Scratch that this is the most evil roundabout i've ever seen.

Do I go yet? How about now? lol. That has more streetlights on it than my entier town.
