  1. Show off your cities! (Screen Shots)

Here is my city königlich (king like, or royal). I just started it the other day so the population right now is around 40k. Lastly my mega city, Lincoln (after the capital city in nebraska). These images are from when the city was at 1.7M people. It is now just over 2 million.
  2. How to run SimCity 4 on Linux

I got it working. I had to edit the 'Graphics Rules.sgr' and tell it B&W cursor. The game ran fine then and all I had to do to get speed was to set the game to software render (as fedora 10 has no nvidia drivers that work it seems). Their are slight graphical errors and the mouse kinda skips around but nothing real bad. Next to install all the patches and import my plugins folder from windows.
  3. How to run SimCity 4 on Linux

I got simcity 4 to install and run and it looks great (no graphical errors I can see) but I do have 2 problems. One is I have no mouse cursor in the game! Kinda hard to play without one. Another problem is the game is running at like 1 frame every 3 seconds. Sure this box is low end but it should be plenty to run simcity. AMD Sempron LE-1150 (2ghz) 2gb ram 80gb hdd Nvidia geforce 8600 gt 256mb Fedora core 10 x86_64 wine 1.1.7 simcity 4 deluxe (no patches yet, pristine install) I'll tinker around with the video drivers as they may be my problem.
  4. I have an HD4670 and have the exact same problem with my card. Switch to software rendering and that will fix it for now.
  5. Skyscraper Commerical City

You are going to need a huge population to support a city of nothing but Commercial skyscrapers. I have a region of over 2 million and it's only now becoming a skyscraper city. Also what size is the city? A small tile can be filled with a population of a few hundred thousand while the largest one (the ones I use btw) Takes millions. I'll post photos of my downtown when I get home from work tonight.
  6. region-sized city

You don't need a mac to get that much ram. You just need an os other than XP (as boards are out that support up to 32gb of ram). Although that much ram is going to cost a lot be it mac or pc.
  7. region-sized city

just think of the ram you would need. Wow. The best you can do is have a city of all large tiles. If you grow slow and plan it can take days to fill just one large tile (or about 15 minutes with little planning). Perhaps in the next version of simcity we will have an area large enough for just about any city (and to think I though sc2000 had a huge map ).
  8. Here is the largest one in omaha, ne. I know of 3 others but they are about 1/2 the size.
  9. Show Us Your Suburbs

Here are a few of my nicer looking neighborhoods. I've always before built my cities like hong kong (pack em in as tight as you can) so this is a bit of a change for me.
  10. Azul's MAX Money

Just because you don't want to use it you think others should keep away! Sure it's unrealistic but sometimes thats the whole point. And for it crashing sc4 it has not yet for me. Just sounds like a scare tactic to keep people away. Another FEATURE of this mod is Super high income from taxes.
  11. Oahu Hawaii

good map but the water line needs a little work. really going to like this map.
