Looks amazing, outstanding job !

one thing though, will it be in the (awful) sim city highway texture or wil it be in an asphalt texture ? or both ?

Please tell me you're going to put in lane lines... Imagine the mayhem during rush hour with millions of people trying to use one wide lane!

Otherwise, it looks very nice

yes, lane markings will be painted when this is near completion.  It's part of the above 10-step TODO list 4.gif

New pictures of little work i did over the weekend... I was going to upload yesterday but for some reason simtropolis' DNS servers seem to have gone down for more than a day (do you guys need secondary dns service? pm me if you need help).

The Charlestown Exit is now completed.  Again, lane markings will be done later as the whole model reaches near completion.

As you get on the exit:

Signs are now going up and being installed, one by one:

    wonderful work.

ehm... ok, this is a recreational project, so this might be a little off-topic, but what about some colored nightlighting?

Again, absolutely stunning...truely a beautiful work of art!!  29.gif

blahdy, please tell me that for a living you make conceptual drawings and such to provide to architectural firms or something like that...if not, you should SERIOUSLY consider starting your own firm to do some sort of stuff like that...it would be truly amazing!!

And to think...after you model something and send all the conceptual pics off to the perspective buyers, you can then export whatever you do and upload it to the STEX!!  2.gif  9.gif

    Great work...great work...keep em coming...  44.gif

No freakin' way. I can't believe what I'm seeing! (goes to wash out his eyes with visine...) Nope, still there. You have got to be THE best transportation BATer I have ever seen!! Can't wait to see it finished!

    ETA: July 22, 2006

That means that: 48 days from June 5th, it will be done. A bit excessive don't you think?

Are there more things that need to be done before first release?

    Thanks all!

aldara6166:  Nah, this is just all hobby 2.gif  But hey if you know anyone who needs modelling work, feel free to ask 2.gif

kippis05:  There are other components in the project that need to be done.  the on-off ramps need to be revised, and modding is not even started. july 22nd honestly is an optimistic date right now.

simzebu:  yup.... as said above, there are still many elements behind the scenes that need to be done unfortunately... but we're getting there.

I've pretty much run out of creative ways to say how astounding this is!  I guess I hadn't used "astounding" yet, so there it is.  It just looks so real... it could be an actual picture from a crappy digital camera if I didn't know better.

    lol thanks all 2.gif

sorry for not much update lately; been doing other stuff..

    here is a weekend update:

    All light-poles are now installed!

    zakim190.thumb.jpg

Signs are mostly completed, about 80% done.  Once that's done, we can get started on the most boring segment of the modelling project: lane markings.

    zakim191.thumb.jpg

a cool-looking picture in the driver's view, as you approach the highway thru the Leverett connector on-ramp.  I drove thru this on-ramp a couple days ago, and it's quite amazing how similar it looks to the real one 2.gif

The bridge is almost ready for lane painting work.  Most components are completed.  signs in the tunnel transition area need to be completed, opened gaps between concrete barriers, etc need to be capped, and some defacts need to be fixed, which are just little minor details 2.gif

    zakim193.thumb.jpg

Another picture that's worth saving for city journaling:

okay, all defects in the super structure are now corrected.  Furthermore, the open gaps between concrete barriers in tunnel transition approach area have been capped.  We can now move forward with completing the signs and lane marking/painting:

    thanks guys 2.gif

glad to see some nice CJers visiting here =)

new update: working on the electronic message boards as we try to complete the work on the signs:

    1. Since the underground highway in SC4 will technically act as a subway, trucks won't be able to go thru it (which is no problem really, who has industrial traffic in downtown).  So we realistically let the Sims know as they drive into the tunnel:

    zakim200.thumb.jpg

    2. Electronic msg board greets drivers on their way into the Central/Artery Tunnel System, as they transition away from Maxis/SC4 elevated HW:

    zakim201.thumb.jpg

    3. Electronic msg board on the way out to SC4 elevated HW:

    zakim202.thumb.jpg

    4. Electronic msg board on Charlestown exit off-ramp to streets:

    Very nice! That looks amazing!

Click it, or ticket. We have that same campaign here in Albany.

There's this one commercial that says:

"You know that seatbelts can help save lives. Blah, blah, blah. Cops everywhere are cracking down on seatbelt violations..." And so on.

    "So click it, or ticket."

Great job so far. However, if the tunnel will act as a subway, will that mean that buses can't go through either?
