very nice W2W set, I could remake my old downtown, maybe you could mix a couple of 6 to 10 story buildings in there too, maybe for corners35.gif40.gif

Hi, SG.

First of all, I want you to know that I am absolutely SALIVATING over the thoughts of being able to use your W2W store block.  They are WAY COOL!

I would like to echo what DT said about the textures and the facades.  As the store block is, it reminds me very closely of my home town downtown (I was born and raised in Russell, Kansas).  Russell is an old town having been founded in 1872.  It's downtown buildings are still very much early 20th century and their facades are very close the the ones you have on your store block.  The main difference is on the weathering of the building material and the cornices, peaks, rails, dormers, etc. that you see along their (front of the building) roof lines.

These are great, SimGoober, and I really am looking forward to your finishing them.

Thanks again for sharing your creativity.

Regards,

Vandy

These are really great, but I agree with Dusktrooper-they look too fresh.  Age those walls and they'll look amazing.

I hope this question didn't get asked before or that I don't get flamed if it has.

I recently d/l'd a couple of lots (trailer parks, movie theater and a couple of others) *and* the other needed files for these lots.  Now there are these four lots in my parks menu:  FloraPack Test Lot Seasonals, FloraPack Test Lot, Large Park Green and Large Plaza.  I'm guessing these were installed as part of the props packs' installs.  Do they really need to be in the menu choices?  If not, is there a way to remove them?  It's not a big deal, but I'm one of those super anal retentive types who doesn't believe in unnecessary clutter.

thanks for any info and for the beautiful additions to my game.

Oh, I am full of surprieses, huh?

I actually have a few more lots in my pending folder to clean up and upload.  Several that I made over time, but got distracted from, and never completed.  The Prentiss Textile Mill I just uploaded is one of those.  made it as I was developing the canal set, then got distracted....

Here is a better picture of it.  it is very large, so does not show well on the STEX shot.

Hey, no problem.. I don't mind requests, just don't expect me to make them is all. I make some, when the mood strikes, or when something just looks too neat not to. I have tinkered with a design for some more urban shops (street level, with apartments or offices above). In fact, I'll go get a preview render of the one I started last week in some spare time... may need to start making it again... 1.gif

Obviously, it's still a work in progress, but I was thinking of making the building in a few variations, with the storefronts as separate props, so lot of variations could be possible...

oh,yes yes yes! I am making a city not with towers but with more 3 and 4 level apartments with cafes, book shops and little mom n' pop stores along the lower level. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing I am seeking. I want to have a ' old main strip' lined with old shops and buildings and then fill in with offices and govt buildings around it.

I hope you follow through. I love the 90 floor towers people make but they don't work in my 125,000 pop (real life pop) type cities/big towns. I love making citied where the tallest building is 10-15 floors and so these will fit in just right.

SG, you've been quite the release machine with all these factories and hotels.  Great work, but a special great job for that large mill, it's awesome.

    Hi SimGoober!

I wanted to compliment you on your excellent BAT collection. It is gamers like you (and your works)that made me realise how wonderful SC4 is.

I also was wondering whether there are any Burger King, Dominos Pizza, Subway Sandwich and KFC outlets on your drawing board for now.

Date: 8/4/2005 11:22:48 PM Author: SimGoober I decided to play with this concept a little more, and made a 1 tile wide version, a little more upscale.  I hope to make a few varieShop%2001.jpgties, and set them up to compete with my 'restaurant row' ones that grow a little too well.. 3.gif

    Hi SimGoober

first I'd like to thank you for your efforts - your bats really change the game! Keep up your wonderful work.

I have a little problem with some lots. In my new city, suddenly brown boxes appear - all labeled with your name. These are uxbridge grove, surbiton grove and watford drive. I guess, I'm missing some props here. Now I searched my own folders because I always keep all read-mes. Then I searched STEX. Still, I couldn't find the original download. Can you perhaps tell me which files I miss. It would already help if you could help me with the name of the download.

    Thanks in advance.

If the Lots giving you a headache are BSC then everything you need is in the Read Me.BSC is very good a writting those Read Me files that are with all BSC Lots.

Now if after Reading the Read Me and you followed the directions in the Read Me still have problems then you might have missed a update from Simcity.com.Goodluck1.gif

you probably need a prop pack, but those are gascookers creations and by the sound of the names his latest suburbia pack. best thing is to search his name on the stex and find the lots and see if you missed a dependancy, they can be a pain in the !

thanks for your fast reply SG! I already thought that these might not your lots. something went wrong with the query window or someone else might use your query.

@Blackbeard - thanks for trying to help. but this IS indeed the problem. as I do not know WHICH lot it is, i do not know which read-me to read and therefore I do not know which props I need.

you see, there is a lot with a big brown parcel. the lot is called uxbridge grove and the query says it is a lot from simgoober. but as he said - it is not from him and I can't find it in my plugin files.

    have to search further...
thank you frogface - you were exactly right. these are made by gascooker (very beautifully by the way!) and I missed a prop-file. I found it, downloaded and now everything is fine again 44.gif
