First off I love all of your work, you're the best out there.

Do you think it would be possible to design a few different parking lot BATs to match your different buildings and possibly make them transit enable or something to that effect

Was there a 'Dennys classic diner' included with that lot? I noticed one had appeared in my landmarks when i installed the mall.

Hey Goob, I just wanted to say how AWESOME your new version of Toys 'R' Us looks!  I absolutely love the old style building and can totally remember shopping at a few of them when I was growing up.  It made me start thinking a bit about growing up and I was wondering if you might consider doing a Bob's Big Boy Restaurant as one of your next projects.  They used to be all over the place when I was growing up in So. Cal. and now they've all but disappeared.

Mr Goober

I don't tend to post anywhere for anything but I love customising SC4 especially with your buildings. I have had the privilege of living in both the UK and Canada so like to get an eclectic mix of the both in my SC4 cities. I used to do a small amount of BATting? with SC3000. Serious time limitations and that thing called 'life' has meant I havent even looked at any of the funky SC4 stuff that is around for customisation of buildings etc let alone actually playing the game. I was hoping to put forward an idea that sort of crossed my mind today (I have already put this to mikeseith the king of automata). Being a fan of modified cars (I can hear the groans) I thought of this...

A tuner garage! In reality every town and city in the world has modified cars of some description cruising the streets. Be it the super chav novas of the UK, the japanese import tuners of LA or the muscle cars of Detroit. I live in a city centre and the constant noise of sports exhausts using the one-way system as a race track (funnily enough by a police station) is music to my ears. I believe you could create a tuner garage that spawns tuner cars based on principles already in place with your hotels with what yourself and Swamper appear to have done. E.g. Your Super 8 Motel spawns Super 8 motel shuttles.

Just a crazy idea of mine.

Thanks for listening!

i try to avoid any plops in my menus of this sort, but i might be fighting a losing battle and change my mind. i have downloaded almost all the simgoober brand name lots, but have been taking the plops and moving them to a seperate folder and keeping them out of play.

in regards to the mall and its department stores, is this a bad idea?  does the mall use the plop lot or the grow lot.

in the the long run i may allow all the simgoober plops into my menus, but they will have to be organized and i am not sure if they are yet.  anyway, let me know.

The mall obviously cannot grow, its too big.
SG orders his lots so that the resturaunts appear together, hotels together, shops together, etc. The item order numbers he uses (usualy in the 30s) are relativly unique in that few other stuff on the STEX uses them.

The occasional SG plop is out of place, but its really not hard to fix with iLive or DatGen, speaking of which, use these to order the menu yourself by controling the item order number, give all stadiums the same number, all shops the same number, all plopable office towers the same number, etc. Not that difficult and well worth doing if Rude boy's mod looks scary.

Thanks all.  The Item Order thing I think I have gotten a little sloppy on, and will try to rectify.  Bascially two things have happened:

    1) I generally don't use plops, so delete them after testing. So I don't have them on my system to compare to the others.

    2) I changed my record keeping recently, to use Andreas' database system.  Without thinking about it, I also lost track of which Item Order numbers I had been using, and am sure a few of the recent ones are probably out of place.  Still in the same general area, but not necessarily where they would have been if I had kept up everything.

As to the Mall, it doens't use any of the actual lots from the Dept stores; it uses the DAT file.  The DAT file contains the models, exemplars and a few other things that put the building into the game.  On all my stuff newer than say 6 months, I keep all that stuff in that file, so any lot can be deleted without affecting the others.  I didn't always do that before that time, so some of the older lots may have problems if one or more of the individual lots are deleted.  Learned that as I went... lol

Of all the stores youve done, did you ever think about or have you done a Big Lots or Odd Lots store?

Also, for the rest of your old old lost (like best buy etc.) are you going to be re-releasing those over the next few months?

If its of any help SG, you usualy assign item orders as follows:
    Hotels - 34
    Shops - 35
    Resturaunts - 36
    Suburban offices - 37
    Plop-a-shop - 38
    Sainsburies - 39

Costco-Distruibition (IM) is 38, and the Eon (sp?) centre is 35.

Granted i don't have all of your downloads, but i like to think i have most of them. I think i had to fix the odd shop, one of the suburban offices (was appearing with the plop-a-shops) and the holiday inn, but otherwise you're usualy spot on. Indeed it was your lots that initialy inspired me to start organising my menus by types of building a while back.

To Pheonix Rising: If I'm not mistaking there is a Big Lots in one of the Plop-A-Shop Packs Simgoober released a while back. Hope this helps.

Shoot, I was just browsing the STEX and noticed all the new lots you pumped out in the past two weeks... holy cow.  Seeing that Uno's makes me want to drive 2 1/2 hours to Rochester to order at the one down there.

And someone else already said it, but that split building it indeed a work of art.

I work for the US Army. I go places, visit mean people, and kill them.

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

Well, I just felt like brainstorming a bit, and decided in case you needed a few ideas for more commercial thoughts, why not share some ideas.  I think a few people have uploaded similar lots, but it's hard to compete with anything you churn out (if anyone knows a GOOD lot of one of the following let me know)

So here's the list of various stores to look into:
    Chinese Buffet restaurant
    Mexican Restaurant
    Large Post Office
    PetsMart
    Drive-through Banks
Car repair shops (I know there's a Jiffy Lube, but there so many others)
bland Burger and similar fastfood restaurants (small little type stores)
    Car Dealerships
    Barbershops
    Saloons
random supply specialty shops (such as hot tubs, scuba gear, beds, speakres/TVs, etc)
    Pier One Imports

Well, that's just some suggestions, I'm sure you can come up with ideas on your own just fine (and I love everything you've done) but in case you hadn't thought of something, there ya go.

    Hello,

i've just a request (if isn't the right thread for request, just remove my post and you will receive my apologizes35.gif)

I like to build large suburban areas on my cities and i play with custom garden to plop made by a Simtropolis member ( I forgot his name).
It's possible to do a collection of modern 1x1 suburban house with front garage? They will replace the ugly wood bungalow or trailers you may find in your residential areas.

    In advance, thanks!
    44.gif

Ps: i would like to thanks simgoober for is amazing work on the Stex.

    greetings from Lausanne, switzerland.35.gif

I believe either Kevdev of Jawood has made a Mexican resturant too, just try searching for their names.

just for fun, I uploaded a NIMBY lot I have been experimenting with for a while. It's pretty tame, just a little humorous, but does have a negative effect on the surrounding area, that is really close by.  AND it will lower your mayor rating.  Get enough of these to grow, and you may actually see riots in your cities... 3.gif  Use caution with them, and don't be afraid to bulldoze if you get too many....

I have a few more like this in the works; I may upload some more in a couple weeks. The other one seems to grow rampantly, so I am going to make a few other buildings to give it some variety.  Maybe even a couple that are actually good for the city as well.  Makes for an interesting game dimension...

Wow, nice idea Simgoober! I hope i get riots easier with that. It really creates a new dimension to the game. 1 question though, can't you make a ploppable one??(or is that already requested?) So I have more control about where the riots start. I hope you would consider this option.
