Sorry if I haven't responded earlier to anyone.  I am on the road for a few days and my laptop is on the fritz.  It is overheating and shutting down after aout 5 minutes.. should be able to get it fixied at home on Monday....

Just FYI, I am partially back up to speed.  I am home with my PC, but it has very little SC4 related stuff on it.  It's new, and I hadn't copied stuff over yet.  I have a couple newer lots ready for upload, but they are on my laptop, and will have to wait until it is fixed.  Hopefully, that will be today...

Here's a couple pictures of a project that has been, well, very long term for me.  I actually started with it back in October... played with it here and there, and have been working on it more the last few weeks.  The lot still has a lot of development left to do, including a couple outbuildings.  These will give the overall idea though.

This has been my baby all along.  It's more a matter of design than anything else.  The first couple attempts I wasn't happy with, so had put it aside for a while.  Then we were trying to figure out a few neat modding ideas, that took a while, and still wouldn't work in the end.  And of course, I'm not known for my attention span... lol... I see something else that looks neat and start off in that direction....

This whole thread reminds me of a funny joke that Maxis put into Simcity2000: if you typed in certain cheat codes, you could get money. However, if you typed in a 4-letter swear word, it would instantly cause millions of churches to pop up all over your city, making it hard to get any population, as the churches de-zoned land underneath them.

Why doesn't someone make a super-mega church - a perfect compliment for these awesome strip-mall buildings. I would just try to get them to grow up next to the other crap.

OK SG - I love what I've seen of the mall so far, how big are you planning to make it and will it have large parking spaces or will you scarafice this to make the plopable more workable. I'm also wondering if there will be many external details as most malls are effectively giant boxes of concrete with little details apart from shop names plastered on the outside.

The above pictured lot is, I think, 18 wide by 11 deep. The main buildings are finished as shown; there will be a restaurant (under construction) in the blank area out front, and maybe another smaller building as an out parcel on the back side.  Depends on how it looks when I tweak the lot a bit more.  Due to the size of the lot, and limitations on the number of props a lot can hold, I won't be able to put many more smaller detail props on the lot.  I want to put some more plants here and there, but it will be pretty open.  The parking lots will probably stay as pictured; maybe a few minor changes, but not much.

Are you planning on doing a gun shop to go with the other argusment starting buildings from a few pages back? If you do I have some great ideas for some,like an outdoor firing range. It would be great if you made one. By the way I support your great looking work, no matter what it is.

as a small request..could you modify the Hecht's to a Kaufmann's, thats Pittsburgh's version of Mays (Although they are all soon to become Macy's).  Not for the Mall, just as a stand alone.  I have been wanting a Kaufmann's for quite some time.

Right now it's a landmark.  I guess I could make it a Reward if there is interest in that.  I am doing final tweaking to the lot now; should be ready later this week.

Hey Simgoober I was wondering is it possible you can make like a road/highway sign for the Mall? It would be great and very realistic. Just wondering.. I am going to have to go with Reward... Great simgoober on those Bats you took out on the Stex! They are very Nice! By any chances will you remake your Best Buy, Toys R Us and all those other huge Shopping Centers you made just like that? I think it would be a very neat Idea. Great work as always!

Great job with the mall. It reminds me, though, just how much we need one that goes over a road or avenue. Most of the major shopping centres here in Sydney do go over a major thoroughfare.

You should consider a modular version, with a series of lots. Would allow you to have more props. Would also make it easier to add sections later. Just an idea.

I vote for reward. Personally, I really enjoy rewards, and will probally not download it if it is only a landmark.
