About This File

The region you've all been waiting for! The Eaton terrain map is finally here for your downloading pleasure! This is a hand-made region.

NOTE: This is a pretty large region, SO GIVE IT TIME TO RENDER! Also note that the attached config is composed of all LARGE cities. You can always tweak this to your liking. ENJOY!

When I bring up the CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R and try to open the gray scale map ) in JPG format, a mesaage comes up saying "the file is 2049X2049 should be 1025X1025) and that's it. Can't open it. I am using Windows 7. I also cannot directly save the "gray scale map" in the sub-folder i created in the Region folder. Had to save it somewhere else first like Desktop. Any help is appreciated.

Remember that on this pariticular region is nothing more than a grayscale image that you need to save to your computer and then use with a config.bmp to render the region in SC4. Consult the OmniMaps portion of the Omnibus for the tutorial entitled "Installing a Region Downloaded from the STEX" for instructions on installing and rendering the region.

1. Start SC4 and create a new region (no matter the type - water or land) and call it Eaton (or as you prefer)..

2. Quit the game or reduce it to an icon and go to C:\Users\your name\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\Eatone.

3. Copy both files that you've downloaded (config and eaton map) in that folder and return to the game.

4. Get into another region and then returns to the newly created (so that the game will load the file confing). << * Skip this step if you exit the game.

5. Hold down CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + R, go to the folder C: \Users\your name\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\Eaton and select eaton_jhipolito.jpg.

6. Wait few minutes and ... It 's all! :)

AHHH! The wonders of Photoshop. I originally open up a map with mountains and a variety of terrain. I then create a blank map, sample mountains and hills from other maps, and paste and blend everything together. It takes me some time, but it's well worth it and realistic! Thank you all :)
just a question but how do u blend the map and the config.bmp files correctly

Andr Mendes and everyone else: It says that the image is 2050x2050 and it needs to be 1025x1025. How do i change it?
Installation instructions would have been nice, not everyone is a pro. After wasting 20 minutes googling and navigating around dead links I figured out how to deal with it.

I got the size error at first too. I fixed it by creating the region, named it Eaton, loaded to another region. Alt Tabbed and copied the 2 image files to the region directory in the \Users\Username\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\Eaton folder. Went back into the game, swapped back to that region and pressed TRL+ALT+SHIFT+R then navigated to that same folder and selected the .jpg. It then went into creating new city mod, and took a good five minutes to complete.
