About This File

Hi everybody, this is my very first foray into 3d modelling and by extension BAT.

The Grand Villa is a luxurious seaside residence that has 591 apartments made for only the wealthiest of sims. I would continue this description in a more creative way but I'm lazy.

4x3 lot, both R$$$ growable and static lm.

Growth stage is 6

Pretty much the rest is standard.

Please leave some constructive comments in the comment section as I've just started and I would love tips to make myself better.

I'm not very good at lot editing or modding the buildings, so if anyone wants to relot it and make the stats any better and reupload it, they can feel free as long as the give credit to me for the model.

Now I'm certainly no BATting/Lotting guru, but I'd say for a first BAT, the modeling is pretty good. The textures however, are not as good. They look very plain and unrealistic. I agree with Kart_Hadasht that the scaling is off, but not by that much. The lotting is also unrealistic.

Overall, I think you did a pretty good job for your first time. You should consider opening up a BATting thread so people can see your work and provide constructive criticism so you can improve. 4/5 :) Keep it up!

Scaling is totally off. It looks like the upper stories are only 4 to 5 feet wide. A building like this would look better at least twice as big and tall. The textures aren't very good neither, needs a lot better ones. You said you were lazy....hm....sorry to say this, but it shows :ohyes: . That model is not bad at all, but if you would have spent more time texturing and scaling it, it would have been a darn good looking model.

The building design is very good :) , but it's too small and the textures makes it look like a plastic toy ^_^

Not a bad first effort, the modeling looks quite good to me. :)

However, since you are apparently well aware of some areas where you still need help and experience, I don't really understand why you upload first and then ask for opinions on what you could have done better. Wouldn't it make more sense to open a BAT thread, get and implement feedback first and upload the tweaked and corrected building afterwards?

In any case, I hope this won't be your last foray into the wonderful world of BAT!

very pretty ! perhaps it could have more trees, for a deluxe residential ? And the bat texture is a bit too ,er (non English-native speaker, here) ungrainy for my taste, too slick, too smooth, ah, smooth, that's it:)))

I have to agree with all comments regarding to the textures and scaling, but nothing can take away a very nice first time modelling attempt. You have great potential. I actually do think that newbie uploaders with potential can definitely make use of the STEX first to upload their first content as long as they don't look too shabby, then afterwards you can start a bat thread, so that you get people's notice, and people will have interest in following your progress and give advice. I think you can't be faulted for that. My honest advice is to try bat some basic models with basic details at first hand as they are more manageable, because I'm sure you need far more details to make an effective upload if it is R$$ or R$$$. A 4/5 for encouragement. Good luck!

Just fyi, I'm redoing this building. I have a thread going in the BAT open discussion forums. Just be aware that there will be a significantly improved version coming in the next few week the few of you that are going to download it.
