Settled in the Vrbas river valley, just after the river exits from magnificent Vrbas-Ugar canyon lies Banja Luka, the capital of Repulika Srpska, entity of the Bosnia and Hercegovina. This region is brought to you thankfully to Mr AnaratkovicSC4's request.
Known as a spa since ancient Roman times ( Banja Luka or Бања Лука in Serbian means Spa of Saint Luca ), this town has been very important trade and government center for more than 19 centuries. The town was seriously hit in two hard earthquakes in 1969.
It is home town of boxing champion Marjan Beneš and Ivan Ljubičić, Croatian tennis player.
Region shown here is consisted of mountains Kozara, Manjača and Čemernica, lower part of the Vrbas canyon, wide valley which opens to the Sava river in the upper right corner.
One interesting fact for guys: It is statistical fact that in Banja Luka male-female ratio is 1:10. That's why it is known as "Boy's desire town". ![]()
