great idea makes sense for a very present topic

Anyways, I can see how it might increase education (I almost always tune into interesting and educational things when I smoke, especially discovery channel and the internet), but as for health, only thing I can see is reducing pain, calming effects, eye related problems, and helping cancer patients (saw a documentary where a cancer patient on chemo did MJ since she couldn't eat without weed because of the effects of the chemotherapy knocking out her appetite)

Anyways Ill be grabbing this and Ill be smoking up with my sim's in no time (lol.... no time)

History has proven that by making Marijuana illegal has created more crime than necessary.

Does this really decrease my Mayor rating? I want it on all the time, but I think it is adding to my not perfect Mayor rating.

Omg, I was making 10k from the marijuana licence, but it KILLED my mayor rating. I had no idea why it wasn't over 60 points. Turned off the mod and now its soaring into the 80's. I love the mod but the negative mayor rating doesn't make sense to me :(

CPR ordinance is by far much more realistic and important than this one. Anyway it doesn't make sense education gets higher with that ordinance...

No offense to the ordinance, but really? It is really effective in building a city, but all I have to say is that it leads to health consequences in the body, such as the lungs and the brain, and don't forget how bad it was in the 1970s. It "feels" good, but it will have a serious impact on the actions you take. Sorry, but boo for me. :noway:

The responses on here are incredible. Very uninformed opinions from both sides. Thats ok, its understandable, just hate to see everyone judge each other and see any separation over stuff like this, especially when there actually is a middle ground. I read and have read and listened to material from the left, right, center, the extremes, and authoritarian perspectives for a decade.

Marijuana is not the cure for cancer, though it can help alleviate pain and increase appetite after chemotherapy, and it could help reduce cancer spreading in conjunction with a healthier lifestyle.

Marijuana does not increase Physical health, especially through means of smoking, although it can be conducive to a healthier lifestyle. Arnold smoked marijuana to lift weights and become a multi mr. olympian body building champion for example. Sam harris, a neuro-scientist/psychologist/philosopher /Podcaster has used marijuana and psychadelics and has suggested with proper care these could all benefit someones life tremendously. 

There is still a black market for marijuana due to its prohibition status on a federal level, which causes all kinds of problems like illegal pot farmers in the middle of the woods who poison local water streams, and damage the land tremendously because they simply dont care what they do. Much like moonshiners. There needs to be regulation put in place to stop things of this nature from happening. Also concerning lack of regulation is how people can currently purchase extremely harmful kinds of thc products. Marijuana has never killed anyone ever in the history of knowable man, however the envelope is being pushed further and further because of lack of regulation. Not to mention we have to keep shady drug dealers around which can lead to tampered adultered marijuana.

Marijuana does not cause psychological problems, unless you happen to be the small minority of people who are predisposed to mental health issues. Marijuana can help people break through a myriad of psychological problems including existential crisises, and other types of depressions, anxieties, and ocd conditions.

Marijuana doe not make people lazy. This comment is anecdotal, but lazy people are lazy people. Marijuana just helps you be the lazy person you wanted to be. Its a focusing tool actually. This is why you are seeing a vast number of young adults making money gaming.

Marijuana for me personally helped me breakthrough in H.S. and turn my D-F average grades my freshman-sophomore years, into c-b and occasional a's my final two years as I played catch up with my credits. All this when I didnt know I had adhd. I couldnt focus on anything until I learned how to effectively use marijuana. I stopped using marijuana in my early 20s and have started again when I turned 34 for the past 3 years now. Marijuana is not addictive as I routinely smoke for 1-2 months, and then take 2-4 months off. It can become mentally addictive, I will give anyone that. But so can fast food, cheeseburgers, little debbie snack cakes, and sitting on the couch watching tv. Its a mindset that you ultimately control. If you do not practice self control, then anything can become a mental crutch. I Never use before or during my job, I never drive when I am stoned either. When I do use marijuana for the 1-2 month sessions, I am far more productive at home. Ive done all my home renovations (Major renovations. completely gutted my current 1923 home, rewired everything, moved all my plumbing fixtures and ran new plumbing, moved gas lines, and hvac ducts within walls. Demo'ed a non load bearing wall, blew open 2 entry ways between 3 rooms, increasing the load bearing weight the headers had to handle, replaced all my windows, and currently in the process of finishing my basement, and making it more efficient for laundry, storage, and workshop use. Ive done all this following code, and have passed all my inspections, with minimal suggestions and ALL BY MYSELF! No help from anyone. Because I didnt want it. Because I am focused as F*** when I am on the marijuana.

I could go one for several hours on the topic. But I am not trying to convince anyone. Believe what you want. believe that marijuana is the cure for everything, or believe it is the demon of the world. Your ignorance is all you have to contend with in the end.

 

As for this ordinace. I would like to see an update. This was a nice addition it seems for the time 9 years ago. I commend the creator for a novel attempt at this. After seeing what legal marijuana looks like now in a good portion of the country, I would say the revenue brought in is probably more accurate than not. However I wouldnt say education and health would increase. I would leave them normal. I can see the argument for the 2, however A mass improvement on the 2 categories without mass proper education on the topic is realistically not going to lead to positive effects. Also dont think the mayor rating should decrease, especially considering the expansion of commerce and industry, less victimless crimes and prisoners as a result of a ordinace like this. 

I am not complaining. Again for the time this was released I feel like this was a great addition to the game and I will download currently regardless of what I think about it. Thank you for the content and the opportunity to clear the air... and replace it with marijuana smoke...
