About This File
This is the first of a series of at least 12 region maps of Indiana. I intend to have most of them released by the end of January.
I am starting this project out with the region of Indiana where I live - Southwestern Indiana.
Owensville, the town where I live is located at the west central part of this region. It also features one of the largest 100% diked lakes in the country - Gibson Lake - the cooling lake for the 2nd lagest coal-fired power station in the country - Gibson Generating Station. I have worked for plant security out at Gibson Lake for only 5 months and already tell that the place is almost a birdwatchers' disneyland with at least 5 high-level endangered birds nesting all over the place.
There is one county located in the south central part of this region that is a tourist trap - Spencer County. Indiana County # 74 is home to the Santa Claus Post Office (47579 if your'e curious), Lincoln Amphetheatre, Lincoln Boyhood State Park, and most of all the increasingly popular Holiday World/ Splasing Safari Theme Park, which seems to get bigger every year.
