Smaller Civic Lots  1.0

About This File

I made all of these a looooong time ago, but never thought to upload them.

In the ZIP are several sc4lot files of SC4 civic buildings modified from the maxis originals

Since I care more about saing space than about realism, I just made the lots as small as I could and still fit the buildings on:

Landing Strip: 2x2 (3 lots, 1 for each stage)

Municipal Airport: 3x3 (3 lots, 1 for each stage)

International Airport: 4x6 (3 lots, 1 for each stage)

Seaport: 1x2 (now goes entirely on land)

Library: 1x2

Police Station: 2x2

Fire Station: 2x2

Medical Clinic: 1x1

Large Medical Center: 3x3

Elementary School: 2x2

High School: 4x2

Museum: 2x2

Large Plaza: 2x2

Disease Research Center: 4x3

Advanced Research Center: 2x2

Cemeteries: 1x1 (3 lots, 1 for each)

Mayor's House: 1x1

Country Club: 3x2

Army Base: 2x2

Air Force Base: 2x2

Resort Hotel: 3x2

Tourist Trap: 1x3

Private Schools: 2x2 (3 lots, 1 for each)

Houses of Worship: 2x2 (4 lots, 1 for each)

Toxic Waste Dump: 2x2

Missile Silo: 2x2

Water Treatment Plant: 2x2

Also, these lots will likely replace the original ones, so keep in mind that if you already have any of these structures already placed in the game you will cause visual voids where the lot used to be but no longer is. However, that is fixable by demolishing the old one and replacing it

International Airport: 4x6 !!! wow ;) well considering simcity offers a huge region to fool around with, I see this pretty useless.BUT! Obviously you needed it somehow, and went into trouble in modifying them so I am giving 5.

I'll remind you that I made these soon after the Lot Editor came out.. about July of '03. It's been months since I've even played SC4. Don't expect any more outta me anytime soon. ;)

Right, but taking that into account, why the dreadful picture? It doesn't make me want to download it, and clearly it's not just me 'cause right now you're sitting on 36. 5/10

I think this is a really good idea. It would be great if you could use these lots in conjunction with the existing ones, so you wouldn't have to have one of everything for every large city, but still have the convenience of your smaller lots. I'd also like to see something for the zoo (I didn't see that in the list). Thanks for your work.

Honestly, I have no idea if you'll read this. Or if I'll pop back to see if you replied. But I wanted to say that I'm posting this because I just saw your post about finding your file being easier now. :P

Good for me, I always go for the smallest counties in game because of my computer....

Also: for me, they don't replace the original lots, they sit beside them. They look good -- so far, it just seems the parking lots have been removed -- and work well when I have limited building space (like, those annoying coastal tiles in the San Francisco default region). Excellent work, 5/5.

If the seaport goes entirely on land now and still functions as a freight dump, then it will be very useful on maps you cannot/ do not want to connect you industry to the neighbouring tiles - although it will still pollute I think?

And it should be a nice trick to circumvent the crime bug for large lots, will try this one out!

These look good at first glance - but on closer inspection they are a mess.  All objects of the original lots have been taken and crowded into spaces where they don't belong, or the same prop is copied multiple times.  Buildings are set on top of parking lots with cars parked through the walls.

For instance, the elementary school has 5 or 6 identical tetherball game props, some of which are embedded partially into the building and in one case in such a way as to look like the kids are jumping in and out of the roof.

Since I have to go into the lot editor and/or SC4tools to clean them up anyway, I've ended up just creating my own from scratch.
