Radius Doubler Mod  1.0

About This File

Installed the NAM with a 10x speed traffic plugin, yet still stuck with police stations and schools that have radii of half a kilometer?  This'll solve your problems.  This is somewhat a replica of a previous set of mods, but it does everything those do in one file.  The following buildings have their coverage radii doubled:

  • Elementary School
  • High School
  • Large Elementary School
  • Large High School
  • Branch Library
  • Police Kiosk
  • Small Police Station
  • Large Police Station
  • Deluxe Police Station
  • Small Fire Station
  • Large Fire Station
  • Fire Department Landing Strip
  • Small Clinic
  • Large Medical Center

If there's anything I left out, feel free to tell me.

I like yours better than the other one i uninstalled the other one just because of how it was laid out... GREAT job. Dont mind what others say... they may not know how it supposed to be used or how it is used...

I tried this but my game crashed when I put a small police station. Does this work with Simcity 4? (no expansion and not deluxe)

Great mod, makes the game much more realistic and manageable. In the city I live with 600,000 people there's 3 police stations (with a new one built just last year), not one every square kilometer.

The suburbs I grew up in had elementary schools all within a half-mile or so of each other, seriously. Close enough so that kids could just walk to the nearest one.

But thanks!

So yeah, I'm WAY late in coming to this mod but I'm going to give it a shot! I see some concerns about capacity and what-not but I don't think they'll be a big issue. I never get my schools anywhere near capacity unless they're serving denser populated areas and even then as time goes on the number of students dwindle to next to nothing. I've used mainly custom schools in my game for the larger coverage areas because it's always seemed more realistic. I do use some in-game police and fire stations, though.

It's always driven me nuts in SC games that you need so many police stations, etc. I live ten miles from the nearest fire department, twenty-five miles from the nearest hospital (there is a clinic ten miles away), and ten miles from the police station annex (it's actually part of city hall) that serves this area. Our largest city had two hospitals to serve roughly 250,000 people for ages and only one city police department. When I was a teenager I lived in a small town and we were bussed ten miles to the only high school for that district.

Good....but, one realistic thought, the bigger the radius, the bigger the capacity and funding i suppose.
And this mod still lack of those elements.

I would really love this to work with Colossus (CAM) , but it doesn't seem to. I installed Colossus Extended (InvisiChem) .  It was working before that, but not after :(

None of this makes sense to me. I downloaded SC4 dat packer from LEX and i dont have a clue what's going on. I want to futher edit the radi of each building. I have no idea how to figure out what building is what and what each parameter means. Where can I get started? do you have a guide for us?
