I finally found out how to properly render downloaded regional maps for SC4RH. This is my first try at rendering a regional map of my own. I hope all the dimensions are right so you can see the picture...
Here's how I did this map:
I used a software called Terragen V0.9 to generate a map. Then I edited it to look like a few islands, and saved it as a .RAW file. Then I used Photoshop Elements 3.0 to make it a greyscale, resize the image to 1025 x1025, and adjust the lighting. Then I saved it as Big Island.jpg.
The Config.bmp was remade using MS Paint. I used the 16 x 16 dimension, but I guess any square size would do.
It took about 15 minutes on my PC to render the map on SC4. After it was rendered, I went to do some city-scale sculpting, particularly with the mountains. As you can see, I did work on some cities, and I'll do the rest as I go along.
This is my first shot at this, so I welcome all comments!
