This map was inspired by Skippydam's wonderful rendition of Portland. I decided to make the most accurate Portland map yet, to include many suburbs to scale, and to make sure the rivers/lakes were in place where they should be.
Anyway, I hope people enjoy this map. It is 40 by 40 km. Have fun!
Instructions: (VERY important note below)
1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods.
2) Create a new folder called Portland in your ..My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory.
3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder
4) Download the portland.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to.
5) Run your SimCity 4 game
6) Open the Portland Region
7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box
8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded portland.jpg to, find "portland.jpg", and open this file.
9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 30 minutes and 3 hours.
