About This File

Ardnox Comprehensive School

Originally opened in 1963 as Ardnox Secondary Modern, this school was built in the typical 1960s panelled style.  By the mid '70s population pressures forced the education authority to bring in portable classrooms to deal with the extra pupils.

This school lot is 8x6 and has a capacity of around 750 pupils.  It is a high school equivalent and I have extended the coverage slightly.

Thanks go to deadwoods for the bike models (sorry they're not more visible) and to gascooker for his texture tutorials.

danurve and dhamp - there are technical reasons why there are no sims in the rec areas. Plus if my lots are lacking it gives people an incentive to learn lot editor and make their own.

Great, nice to see more UK lots. I have spent half my career as an architect adding extensions to these schools and bringing them up to modern standards, typical british 60's architecture!!! Nice and realistic.

In answer to cowcorns comments, yes in most towns and cities in the Uk at least one block of their high schools will have this style if built before 1980's (which is still almost 80% of all schools int he UK.

rp2005 - an excellent interpretation. I think the ratings speak for themselves, however if any school is like my old one, the grass would never be in such prestine condition.

I'll mirror some previous comments. The first decent suburban school I've seen! Not just UK but in the States too, buildings like this are all over the place, from the post-war construction era. Very useful!

This is really, really good. The first school that genuinely looks like a UK schooL!! This looks like most of the schools round my area. Awesome stuff!!

Very Nice school for suburban setting or outer fringe of the city. Kweesenart, I think the green areas are not windows, but wall panels. If you look close you can see the glass above the green areas.
